Story
This is Bowie! We rescued her from ACCT Philly a few months ago and have been working on teaching her the ways of a dog. She is house trained, will sit and give her paw, knows to sit and wait patiently during meal times, pulls a bit on the leash, but is good off the leash and has excellent recall, even when distracted by a squirrel or other dog walkers. She loves zoomies, chasing tennis balls, snuggling on couches, and spending down time in a crate if needed. She is not a big barker, but will occasionally talk to you a bit. She is a chewer! But she quickly learned what she can chew (toys) and what she cannot chew (slippers). Need to rehome unfortunately: we have an older dog that has been in our family for 8 years and they do not get along. They are very sweet and cuddle and have no issues, but then unknown triggers will cause her to lunge at him. She is however been good with quick/short term dog meets that are controlled, but needs a single-dog home.

Hello, my name is Atlas. I am a very sweet and cuddly dog. I enjoy being outdoors and anywhere my human is. I get along with dogs, through proper introduction. I currently live with 2 other dogs I am very calm and great with children of all ages. I have a very sweet and loyal disposition. I have not lived with cats but have been around them and I like to chase them, so I would be best suited in a home without them, unless worked with. No adoption fee, just needs a good new home. Sam is approximately 7 years old. She ended up at HRA after her owner passed away. She joined us 7/2021. She had an ACL repair and is currently taking Trazodone twice daily for anxiety. Meds are no issue with pill pockets or similar. She enjoys balls, belly rubs, naps, chew toys. She walks well on leash (harness recommended); knows basic commands like sit, stay, house (crate), potty.  She does bark at people approaching the house (UPS, FedEx, etc). She is not a picky eater and has no known food allergies. She is housetrained and crate trained. She doesn't like to be left alone. Will rehome with collar, leash, harness, bed, small supply of food, toys. Looking for a home where she can get the attention she deserves.

Story
Beatrix is a sweet and beautiful midsize lady. She loves to run around with her stuffed animals and chew on her chew toys. She plays independently, but also loves when you join for tug-of-war or chase. Beatrix is house trained! Beatrix has done well with crating. She is crated during the day when I am at work and gets a potty break about halfway through the day. Bea is responsive to treats, and likes to learn. Her favorite thing is to run around the dining room table with her toy, or prance around with it in her mouth. Bea walks nicely on the leash. We are teaching her loose leash walking, and she is really picking up! Sometimes she will pull if she was scared, and usually it is back to the house. But in general, our walks are uneventful. Bea is snuggly on the couch. She likes head and neck rubs. Bea can be nervous around other dogs. We suggest an experienced adopter due to nervousness around new dogs/strangers and potential hearing loss.

Though he prefers to be with his humans, he doesn't mind a little quiet time in the crate when there's a tasty treat to keep him occupied. Shadow's love of pets is endless ❤️

Story
Riley is over 2 years old. We adopted him from BARCS in Baltimore City in early December. He has such a happy and friendly demeanor and a face everyone loves. At 30-35 pounds, he's small but mighty! Riley is quite strong and will need an owner that can manage his strength. He's unaware of his size and is a complete lap dog, always wanting to be by your side. The downside to this is he is experiencing some separation anxiety. We've been working on this, but he still gets quite anxious when we leave. Riley knows sit VERY well. He's a smart dog and learns quickly. He is housetrained. It's with a broken heart that we have come to realize that our home isn't the best fit for Riley. We very slowly introduced him to our two 15-year-old cats, and do not get the sense that they can all co-exist safely. Rileyown's interactions with other dogs is somewhat unknown to us. The shelter had mentioned some concerns with how he interacts with male dogs.
