Story
Murphy is a 3.5 year-old male (Beagle/Aus Shepherd mix,45-50lbs). He had his shots and has been neutered. He was originally adopted from Michigan Humane in 2021 (chipped). Was found as a stray in Detroit Palmer Park, apparently the original owner did want him anymore. The couple that found him could not keep him, so he was adopted by my family in April 2024. He was found to be heart worm positive and has gone through treatments in May and June. He is now in the 120-day waiting period before retesting. We had every intention of keeping him, but after treatment he became bigger, stronger and a lot to manage. We have two other dogs that he does not get along with well. Positives: He is very smart, trainable and lovable. Negatives: He is easily triggered by surprises, especially loud noises such as landscaper equipment, hair dryers, vacuum cleaners etc., which may result in aggressive behavior. He would be good for an adult home (maybe older children) with no other pets.

Story
Max is a great dog! Listens well, gets along with my other dog and toddler, house trained and crate trained. Got him from the humane society, so I don’t know what breed he is, but my guess is Shepherd mix. He’s 9 months old and 50lbs, so he will be on the bigger side. LOVES to snuggle and give kisses, and will need a fenced in yard to run and play fetch! Please give this sweet boy a home where he can love on you forever and be the best guard dog!

Story
He is a good dog if you already have animals he seems to just need a couple days to get used to them, but he doesn’t do well if you bring in new animals that are smaller then him. He would be a great companion if he was by himself. He is ok with kids, my son (4) thinks it’s fun to pick on him so he would be better with older kids.

Hello, my name is Magan Crutcher, and I am contacting you to see if I may surrender my 2-year-old dog Rio. She has become aggressive to my cats and snapped one of their necks and ended up killing it. She is not aggressive towards people but can become territorial over food. She is not aggressive to other animals when there is no food around. She loves dogs and gets along with the cats normally. However, the cat killed a rat and the dog went after the cat. I cannot take any chances. This is the third time this has happened in the last 6 months, and it ended in my poor cat losing their life. Rio is sprayed and up to date on all her shots. Rio should not be around small animals. I do not want to put the dog down, but that may be my only option. I am very sad about this. She is housebroken, knows commands, goes to doggy care a few times a month, and loves it there. She is a 50-pound mix who was rescued from Mexico at 5 weeks of age. She has always grown up with animals.

Hello! My name is Monkey and I am a stray that no one ever came for. When I showed up with Animal Control, I was pretty beat up. My neck and face had a bunch of healing lacerations. I had an ear infection and I was very dirty. I am Heartworm positive which is why I am listed as special needs. The treatment is being covered by the shelter, but if I go home before I'm negative, I must return the 26th of each month to receive another treatment. I am docile, independent, shy, and loving. I just need a place to call home.
