This is a courtesy posting.  Dear DAVY urgently needs to find a loving foster or forever home.  He is OUT OF TIME at the Kern Co Shelter (Bakersfield, CA).  Davy has a zest for life which makes him very active and goofy.  He needs a person/family that enjoy being active and working with their dog.  He recently had a Doggie Day Out through the shelter and he did well and alot of fun.  Here are the notes they made about him: Davy is a GREAT DOG that has a zest for life. This zestiness manifests as hyperactivity and goofiness. He needs a home that can provide him the training he needs and the exercise he craves. He has such potential to be the perfect dog but someone needs to be willing to show him the way. He pulls on leash a bit, but he checks back in with you often which is amazing! Davy is very trainable and already knows sit and shake. He does great in the car and does well with other dogs. We did not have a chance to test him with cats or kids. He would likely be fine with older kids, but could knock down little ones. He saw some ducks at the park and didn’t mind them. Story
Gabe is a seven year old Plott hound mix that has been an amazing hiking and adventure companion for the past 6 years. I adopted him from a shelter with known behavioral issues including resource guarding, separation anxiety, and reactivity. With the help of an amazing behavioralist and prescription medications he still takes, we have been able to manage his behaviors and enjoy our life together. The behaviors will always be there, but with the right leader, consistent training, and safe environment, he can be a very loving companion for someone. My partner and I are expecting our first child in May, and do not feel Gabe is an appropriate dog to have around a newborn. We have made the difficult decision to find him a loving, safe home.
