Story
LEANER ALERT!! Rosey is a 2 year old Plott hound mix and she loves nothing more that to sidle up to her people, leaning on them while she gets her scritches. She is a playful pup who gets the zoomies once or twice a day with a sudden burst of energy, but she settles in quickly. Tug of war or fetch? Why not both?! Rosey is always up for either. She has done very well with house training with only 1 accident in her first two weeks with her foster family and she is crate trained. Rosey is working on her leash manners. She can walk nicely when calm until she sees a squirrel or bunny. This girl is as smart as she is beautiful and food motivated which could make training a breeze. While she’s done well with calm children, she is a mirror of energies and will reflect back the excitement level of the person she’s playing with. This can result in her getting overly excited to play at times. Usually quiet, Rosey saves her barks for when she’s letting you know someone new is nearby. Sweet, smart, and playful. She’s ready to be part of your family!

Story
Your sweet and calm companion!Cassie is a calm, loving 3-year-old girl with a heart full of affection. She arrived at Tara's House with two of her puppies, Frankie and Phoebe, after being rescued as a stray from rural West Virginia. While much of her past is unknown, one thing is clear—Cassie is a remarkable mom and a gentle soul. Despite a challenging start, she gave birth to eight healthy, robust puppies, and her care and cleanliness made her a standout mother. Now settled in a foster home, Cassie continues to show just how wonderful she is. She peacefully coexists with the resident dog and cat, and her low-to-medium energy level makes her the perfect companion for those who enjoy a relaxed atmosphere. Cassie is a people-loving dog who craves affection and enjoys snuggling up for quiet moments. Her calm demeanor makes her a joy to be around, whether you're lounging at home or out for a stroll. Cassie is well-mannered and knows basic commands like 'sit,' 'down,' 'wait,' and 'shake.' Her leash manners are impeccable—she walks calmly beside you, stopping and sitting when you do. And she's recently discovered a love for car rides! Though she once lived a quiet, lonely life, she now eagerly jumps into the car, fascinated by the world around her. Cassie crates well and sleeps through the night, though she'd much prefer to snuggle up beside you if you'll let her! She's a sweet, loving companion who would be perfect for a family looking for a loyal and gentle dog. Cassie is good with children aged 10 and up, making her an ideal fit for many homes. If you're searching for a kind-hearted, affectionate family dog, look no further—Cassie is ready to bring love and joy into your life. Apply today to give this amazing girl the forever home she deserves! Cassie’s adoption donation fee is $400, which includes spay/neuter, routine vetting and a microchip. You can apply for Cassie by filling out our online application, which is found on our website www.tarashouse.org.  Please email us at info@tarashouse.net with any questions.April 23, 2025, 1:28 pm

Story
Meet Goldie, an almost 4 year old pure bred plott hound. Her birthday is July 2021 and she is spayed. We are a family with children/ other dogs and are needing to rehome her due to food aggression and being aggressive towards our chihuahua, who she does not get along with at all. She has been good with our children the whole time with our youngest being under 1 when we got her. Goldie was 9 months old when we adopted her and has come a very very long way since her early days. She is very vocal about anything she may see but is also receptive to a bark collar. She is crate trained. We do walk her using a prong collar for her pulling and liking to go after other smaller animals. She is incredibly friendly with people and loves the attention from new friends. She does need to have a very large yard that is fenced and is free of dog poop. She will come with everything needed: crate, bag of food, leash/collars, food/water bowls, toy.
