Story
Jack is a soulful, loyal, and goofy 2-year old, 75 lbs., plott hound mix. His foster family loves him and the 3 human children in the house (ages 9, 10 and 14 years old) always play with him. He is also pals with a 55-pound female pittie mix. Because he is food motivated, he has been easy to train. Jack knows the following commands: "no, sit, down, paw, leave it, wait, no pull, potty, and come". He walks well on a leash and really enjoys his outings with a harness and retractable leash. Jack can be left outside his crate when his family goes out without any issues. His favorite hobby is to couch-potato.
Personality: Jack starts shy but will quickly show his loving and dedicated nature. Female dogs LOVE him! Jack will need slow introductions with dominant MALE dogs as he can be very submissive with his male counterparts. Girls tend to love his dark puppy eyes and his cuddley ways. Jack enjoys chewing on toys, playing tug of war with his ropes and fetching. When playing, he can get a bit rough but this may have to do with his foster siblings also playing competitively. This pup enjoys couch cuddles with his foster family and likes to watch TV or snuggling his foster sister pup.
Ideal Home: Jack would thrive in an active household where he can get plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. He would do great in a home with a sweet medium/large FEMALE dog. He is great with children age 9 and above. With cats, Jack can be curious but won't go after them. The only thing is that he can get a bit nervous if the cat is aggressive towards him. Jack would benefit from some training because he becomes a but nervous with dominant dogs.
Jack's rescue story: Jack was dumped in a new development neighborhood as a very young pup. His foster mom found him in early January 2024.

• All information is accurate to the best of our knowledge as of the posting date.
• Unless explicitly stated, Sandy Paws Rescue does not guarantee the breed of any dog. Breeds listed are educated guesses made by shelter staff, volunteers, or veterinarians. Many of our dogs are mixed breeds, often with pit bull-type genetics, resulting in a wide variety of physical traits and temperaments.
Our dogs come from various situations, such as kill shelters, owner surrenders, or as strays. It is likely both parents were mixed breeds as well.
Sandy Paws Rescue does not have a public shelter in Massachusetts. Our dogs reside in private foster homes or boarding kennels in the South until adopted. Many dogs are spoken for prior to transport or release from state-mandated isolation.
