Meet handsome Lamar....this 2.5 year old plott hound/lab mix is 72 pounds of sweetness! He was picked up as a stray in St Thomas in February 2022 and spent months in the shelter where he shut down, not wanting to eat, walk or play. Neil, a volunteer at the shelter, fostered him and loved him until Neil left the island to work stateside. Instead of placing Lamar back in the shelter, the Pets With Wings Program brought him to Pet Search! Lamar loves other dogs and will thrive with a fur-sibling or two! and once he becomes comfortable, he will join and play, almost to the point of exhaustion! Lamar is very skittish when first meeting people and will bark out of anxiety, and will back away. After several weeks in foster care, he is warming up to his foster parents. Lamar needs time to adjust to new surroundings and will have accidents while feeling comfortable. He loves to sleep in bed or on a sofa, but is crate trained also. Lamar has shown no reactiveness to cats and would be a great playmate for older children due to his size and weight. Have you ever read a novel that has so many twist and turns that by the time you get to the last chapter, you have NO idea who won and who is the REAL good guy?? Well, I believe my life is like that. I came from somewhere, no one really knows where, and I ended up at the pound, somehow.... So i was actually adopted as a cute puppy from the pound..... and THEN 5 months later... I was saved at a busy intersection with a badly injured back leg.... no "family" around :( SO, luckily I was saved by a RESCUER!!! I mean, what are the odds?? So my name is Artie and now I am healed up and looking for my furever REAL family. I am a great sized pup, 30# of fun and love and all kinds of playtime! I love to run and play, tug of war and keep away I excel at and the zoomies too! I am great with other dogs, and kids and am ok with cats but require a good introduction and experienced dog/cat introducer with monitoring as I may chase a kittie if it runs. adoption donation : $599 weight 40 lbs Age: 9 months as of 12/20 Nacho is an absolute love bug and will make an awesome family dog. This sweet boy doesn’t have an aggressive bone in his body, he is all tail wags, kisses and wiggles! Nacho was found abandoned with his sister in a rural part of Mississippi and was taken into the rescue and quickly settled in, he loved to run and play with the other dogs and snuggle up with his sister in a puppy pile to nap. Recently Nacho arrived at his foster home in the northeast and has charmed everyone, he is friendly to everyone he meets, not a big barker, he is housebroken, loves toys, and adores playing with his foster brothers and sisters. Ideally, we would like a home for Nacho with another dog to play with, he absolutely adores every dog he’s ever met and would make a fabulous playmate for any size dog, right now his best buddy is a 14 pound Boston terrier. If he doesn’t have a companion, Nacho would really love an owner who was around a lot, who would take him on walks and hikes or just spending time together, Nacho just loves to be with his person. Nacho is just a silly, funny, goofy and loving boy. He could use a little training, he does get excited and still jumps up a bit, but he is a smart boy and extremely food motivated, he would be easy to train. Nacho is the ultimate family dog, he would love to be in a home with children he can give sloppy kisses to. Wags is a struggling 501(c) 3 where one woman in rural Mississippi takes care of about 150 homeless and stray dogs. Adoption donations are the only source of funding for the rescue.
