Hello there, I'm Toby! I'm the Einstein of dogs, minus the crazy hair. Now, how did I end up here, you ask? Well, I was chasing my tail, as one does, when I took a wrong turn and ended up at the shelter. I figured, why not stick around and make some friends? I'm a bundle of joy and goofiness, always up for a game of fetch. I'm also a certified cuddle expert, my snuggles are top-notch! I'm brave, loyal, and always ready to protect my human. I'm looking for a forever home where I can share my love and energy. So, if you're in need of a loyal friend and a good laugh, I'm your guy! This pet is eligible for the PETS FOR PATRIOTS adoption program. Adoption Process If you are ready to meet the pet, please fill out an online adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your internet browser: https://www.petstablished.com/adoption_form/10666/generic Once your application is submitted, we will contact the vet reference provided. If you do not yet have a vet, please provide three personal references – these could be family and friends who can attest to your pet parenting skills. A volunteer will schedule a phone interview with you. The interview and application help our fosters find their forever home by ensuring a good match.   The Louisa Humane Society does not have a brick and mortar facility, so all of our pets are in foster care. Once approved, the foster parent will reach out to arrange a visit. The foster family can tell you all about her likes, dislikes, and little quirks.  The application and visit do not oblige you to adopt, but if you’re ready to take the pet home as your furry forever friend, the adoption fee is $150. ##2182225##

This handsome 4 year old Plott Hound mix came in as a stray, we were convinced someone must have been missing him as awesome as he is but sadly no one ever came for him! Dayton may have started off as a stray, but he's now ready to find his forever home. And let us tell you, he's been working hard on his leash walking skills and is doing a paw-some job! This active boy loves to go on adventures and would make the perfect companion for someone with an active lifestyle. But don't let his busy schedule fool you, Dayton is a true best friend. He's affectionate, charming, and loves to cuddle. His curious and intelligent nature makes him a quick learner, and he's always eager to please his humans. Dayton has done well with the dogs he has met here at the shelter! Sure, Dayton may still be learning some household routines like potty training, but we all have our quirks, right?
