Story
We met Jaina at the Humane Society. She had been surrendered in a suspected hoarding situation, and she was really struggling to feel safe. She was unable to be handled by potential adopters, and was slated for behavioral euthanasia. We knew that she deserved a chance, and so we brought her in. She has flourished with us, and is now welcoming and receptive to petting and holding, when she was adamantly against it at first. She's 11 years old, and will be 12 in October. She loves spending time with people, though she's not too much of a lap dog if she's not actively cuddling and being pet by you. She tolerates our cats for the most part, and can be quite curious about them, but is not a fan when they enter her space. We believe she lived with other small dogs in the past and are not aware of any issues between them. I would not recommend having her around children, she can be quite snappy if provoked, and needs an experienced owner with time for her.
