I am just a baby and need'a home with a loving. dog-experienced owner who has the time and patience to teach me basic puppy skills and housebreaking skills. I am only 3 months old and I currently weigh 5 pounds, I already know how to walk on a leash, but I would love a fenced yard to run and play in. I'm hoping my new home has a doggie friend who has my energy level and wants to play. My humans said to tell you I am a Pomeranian/Jack Russell Terrier mix and might be a good agility dog when I grow up. Meet and greets for approved adopters will be by appointment. Surrendered to a small, overwhelmed shelter in rural West Virginia, Sassy's condition was nothing short of unimaginable. She had not seen a vet in over ten years, and her tiny frame was riddled with suffering - every tooth had fallen out from yeras of decay, her once beautiful coat was matted, and she has damaged, cloudy eyes that speak volumes about the pain she's endured. However, you would never know everything Sassy's been through! This tiny superstar is a professional cuddle connoisseur, happily sharing beds and snuggling up with her furry foster friends. And when she’s getting belly scritches? Oh, she’s in full relaxation mode ~ one long leg in the air, reaching for the heavens, living her absolute best life. Sassy is soaking up all the love and comfort her foster home has to offer ~ whether it’s curling up in her new favorite cozy beds or showing off her soft, freshly cleaned fur with a little extra pep in her step. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs. Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families. We have many sponsorship dogs. Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :) So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application.The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue. Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding. He was 78 and I was a puppy :( I had to be around really big dogs. By the time I was 2 I had learned that I needed to protect myself. My owner had realized he was to old to handle a puppy. To say it was a mess was an understatement :( My owners daughter started calling all around looking for help to place me. She told the people I was food aggressive, dog aggressive and only liked males so of course most rescues the SPCA included didn't want anything to do with me :(Lucky for me Lynn decided she wanted to meet me. She took my leash and we went for a walk. I just knew by the way she walked with me that she was in charge and I didn't have to be. She picked me up and carried me for a little while and I decided I liked it!She brought this big dog Millie into the play yard. Oh no I was scared but Lynn seemed to think it would be alright so I decided to see what would happen. Millie was very nice and she gave me my space hmmmm I think I might be OK with dogs. The next day I came for a visit at the ranch for the day. I met ALL the dogs and it was OK no one wanted to hurt me!! Now I run around the ranch and I am part of the pack and guess what I like EVERYONE! I'm even OK with female humans!!! Life is GREAT!! PLEASE if you are a senior be smart and don't get a young dog get a dog that is more your age and activity level and one that won't be left behind to start over when you are gone. Its not fair. Ashley came from Puerto Rico a couple months ago due to her previous owner not being able to take care of her anymore due to illness. Ashley is crate and house trained. She is good with other dogs. Kelly is up to date on all medical for her age and will come with a complete set of paperwork. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application.
