Story
Meet Sam!
Sam is a 4 year old Portuguese Water Dog. He is on the small size for his breed and weighs approximately 45 lbs. Sam is very timid but loves to be petted.
Sam's real personality shines when he interacts with other dogs. He becomes more brave and adventurous, and loves exploring his surroundings. He is great in a crate overnight, but he also does well without a crate. Sam is not fully housetrained but has minimal accidents with regular outdoor breaks. Sam did have a tendency to mark objects that are "his" when he first came into foster, but he is improving on this behavior as he becomes more comfortable in his surroundings.
Sam enjoys soft treats and regular walks outside. He also loves playing with other dogs, and gets along well with cats. If you are looking for a sweet boy who loves attention, Sam might be your perfect match!
Sam is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. His adoption fee is $450.
Sam is a Patron Pup. Patron Pups have higher adoption fees due to varying reasons and are adopted quickly, even with these higher adoption fees. They may be purebred, a highly desirable breed, small in size fully grown, etc. These fees allow them to act as patrons to other pets in our care who may not be as adoptable, or have ongoing costs for medical care, contributing to a longer time in rescue, and therefore a higher cost for us to care for them. Patron Pups allow us to continue rescuing these other animals and give them a better chance at finding their forever homes as well.

All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.
