Story
Please read the pet description IN IT'S ENTIRETY before applying. Thank you for your cooperation. NOT YET TAKING APPLICATIONS – NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION NEW INTAKE 1/7/2025: Burrito - female - approx 8-10 years old - 18.14 pounds - Pug mix Reason for intake: Burrito was found on New Years Day at 2pm curled up outside of a fence off of English Road in Gloster, La. The finder did post her on social media and she did contact DeSoto Parish Animal Services and the dog went through stray hold with the finder as foster. Once stray hold was up, the finder contacted us to see if we could take her in and here she is! She is chipped. Prior to her arrival, the finder tried to make contact with the persons the dog is registered to but one phone number is no longer in service and the other was answered by someone who doesn't know who the registered owners are. We also called the chip company to find out more information. The chip was implanted by the City of Bakersfield in California. The dog was turned in as a stray. Her owners came forward. Prior to her leaving, the shelter chipped her and registered her to the owners on July 5, 2022. We called the City of Bakersfield and their attitude was "well, what do you want us to do?" Okie dokie... nothing, I guess. We also searched the names on social media, google search, etc. It was like searching for a needle in a haystack. Anyway, we and the finder did do our due diligence to try to get her back to her people but it appears that maybe her people rehomed her and then she was dumped or who knows? We have her now and we will find her a permanent home. She's heading to our vet soon for whatever she needs, which includes a dental. NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS: Many dogs, particularly breeder, hoarder or senior dogs, can have multiple medical issues that need addressed. Additionally, sometimes we take in young puppies requiring multiple vaccinations and/or quarantining. In this particular case, we are not yet taking applications either due to age or possible illness or some other reason. We will post when s(he) is ready for adoption. In the interest of fairness, EARLY application submissions will NOT be considered. Please note… we cannot respond to messages/emails, etc., on dogs that are NOT yet available for adoption. Please wait until the dog is available for adoption. We will post him or her on Facebook in our Adoptable Dog Album pinned to the top of our page which you can follow at this link: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.416768288349589&type=3 OR you can keep checking our website at www.roadtorescuela.org. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding. “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” ~ Gandhi Be responsible ~ Always spay/neuter, keep your dogs on heartworm prevention, vaccinate against disease... and if you bring a pet into your life, commit to that pet for life.
