Story
Maverick is a 1.5-year-old male Pug and Chihuahua mix. He is full of energy and loves to run around the yard, and in the house, at top speed. He gets along well with other dogs. He thinks cats are his friends and tries to play with them, they may or may not appreciate it. He's the light of the party and is just fun to be with.He is a young dog, and therefore he chews a lot. He will need a lot of chew toys, and things that he should not chew, should be kept out of his way until he grows out of this, including wires. He will also chew on furniture so he needs to be supervised. He loves to chew on hands and feet, so if you don't like that, he'll gently need to be encouraged to not do so.Maverick is not potty trained and will need to be taught how to ask outside to relieve himself. He is learning, but is not ready to be left unsupervised yet.He sleeps well in his crate at night.Maverick has a big dog personality. He loves to play with the foster family's large breed dog. They chase each other around the yard and wrestle. Maverick would do well with another dog in the family. Although Maverick loves to snuggle with his person, he's very energetic and needs lots of exercise every day. He'll do best with an active person, or family. He'll need a yard to run around in and/or daily walks of probably a couple of miles a day at least. He'll be a really good walking and hiking buddy. He does need to learn how to walk on the leash, as it appears he has not done that before.Young dogs can be very active and need a lot of teaching, supervision, kindness and patience. Maverick is young and needs this too.Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $200. Story
Sawyer is a “Pocket Bully” born in September 2018 with a cleft lip, cleft palate, and spina bifida. He is currently eating and drinking safely on his own and we don’t believe his cleft lip/palate will require any surgical intervention. Sawyer will always need a little extra supervision to make sure he doesn’t eat anything dangerous for him, and will never be able to safely eat wet or goopy foods like canned food, peanut butter, yogurt, or any other liquids other than water. But otherwise he is expected to live a long, healthy life. The spina bifida causes Sawyer to be incontinent and to have some weakness in his back legs. He can walk and get around very well, but he will be in diapers for the rest of his life. He is a very happy, spunky pup and is friendly with humans and other dogs. He needs a committed home willing to give him the extra care he needs to thrive. Sawyer has been neutered, is current on vaccinations, has tested negative for heartworm and is also micro chipped.
