Story
Junior is a sweet, snuggly, 8-year-old 19 lb. terrier-chihuahua mix. He arrived from the shelter with a fractured pelvis that seemed to heal on its own, just a bit crooked, but he went from guarding his left leg at the shelter to being completely weaned off any meds while in foster care! Even though he probably had an unfortunate encounter with a car, he has normal musculature on both hind legs. Junior's confidence continues to increase with lots of daily walks as his physical therapy-- he can walk 2+ miles at a time and has just started using the wood stairs inside with stair treads! Junior is happy to be getting two meals a day, so much so that his prey drive is greatly reduced. He will love to snuggle next to you on the sofa and delights to go on walks. While walking, if you keep a brisk pace, he will keep up with you, but if you slow down, he might just take the opportunity to roll in the grass- especially when it is warm outside.  Junior gets along with his foster siblings but can still be a bit unpredictable when meeting new dogs outside. He might bark outside when he sees things ahead (people or dogs) but is easily redirected and is learning that many neighbors give scratches and he will sit politely at their feet taking it all in. Junior is still learning to play with toys. As a big bonus- he is almost completely house-trained! Junior's best home is one where he is the only pup, and his humans are home most of the time. He is crate-trained but would prefer not to be crated. He has been very good with children in the neighborhood, giving kisses and taking treats, but because of his injury, would probably be best in a home without small children. Due to his asymmetrical pelvis with some limited range of motion in his left leg, we are looking for a local adopter who is able to meet handsome, sweet Junior. You can see more photos and videos of him at https://imageevent.com/newrattitude/junior . Beginning March 1, 2025, our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs or $300 for puppies under 6 months old. If you are interested in adopting this dog, PLEASE READ THE DETAILED ADOPTION PROCESS information on our website at www. Want to meet ME?* Come to our adoption event this weekend: Sunday, March 9th from 11:30-1:30 Dulles Landing Petsmart, 24570 Dulles Landing Dr. #140, Dulles, VA 20166 Only Canines & Kitties Rescue pre-approved adopters will be able to bring a dog/puppy/cat/kitten home from the adoption event. Please apply a few days (or more) ahead of the event to allow time for processing. We hope to see you on Sunday!!! *Dog/Cat attendance is not guaranteed. Feel free to text the event coordinator to confirm a specific dog/cat's attendance: 703-447-4766 IF YOU ARE VIEWING THIS LISTING ON PETFINDER OR ADOPT-A-PET, please visit: Caninesandkittiesrescue.org to access adoption requirements, more information and pictures. Meet Oakley: Oakley is about 7 months old and weighs 18 lbs. We think she looks like a Rat Terrier/Feist mix (JUST A GUESS). Oakley is absolutely the sweetest pup ever. She is so loving and just wants to please. Oakley is great with other dogs, but we have no idea on cats. Oakley loves all people and while she is not in a foster home with children we think she would do just fine with children of all ages. Oakley is learning how to walk on leash so for right now she will require a home with a large fenced yard so she can get her exercise. Oakley has not had any accidents so far in her foster home. Oakley does well with being crated for 2-3 hours. Oakley would do best in a home where she is not alone all day and would love another playful dog to play with. Oakley will be spayed on March 17th. She is up to date on vaccines and microchipped. The Adoption Fee is $400.00 ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from CKRescue*** ***Note that puppy adoption fees most often help generate revenue that goes towards older, special needs animals that need our help. Surgeries, heartworm treatment, boarding costs and/or all things that often result in adoptable dogs and cats being left behind to be euthanized. So, adopting a puppy saves not just one life, but many! ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Vetting of current and past pets is very important to us, thus we will be speaking with the vet(s) listed on your application to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Our organization cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and/or the general appearance of the animal. **Please visit www.caninesandkittiesrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**

Story
Hi my name is Smokey.  I am a super sweet and very active 1 year old Rat Terrier mix who weighs 11 lbs.  I am so greatful to Critter Cavalry and happy to be in the care of my foster mom Dawn.  I have gone through a lot in my short life.  My original family adopted me as a puppy.  They did not have a fenced in yard and just let me run around wherever I wanted.  Well one day I did not get out of the way quick enough and got hit by a car.  The people just drove off.  Fortuately my family came to get me immediately.  I was so distraught as both of my back legs were broken.  My family spent a lot of money trying to get me well but could not afford physical therapy on top of everything else.  Soon my legs began to hurt and I had trouble walking.  A neighbor knew of Critter Cavalry and  that is how I got here.  I have had additional surgery and excelled in my physical therapy.  I am now ready to find my forever home.  I have a blast with the other 2 small dogs in my foster home.  They played a very important part in my recovery.  I want to keep my muscles strong and my hips working properly so I need a home with another small dog my age and size to be my exercise buddy.  No big dogs for me please.  I am scared of them and bark at them.  I am a great little guy who is housebroken to a doggie door and crate trained.  I love to go for walks and love to run around in our fenced in yard and play games in the house.  If you are an active family and already have one little active girl or guy then you are the family for me.  I have been neutered and am current on all my shots and microchipped.  To be considered for my forever family and to request an application please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (I am currently in Tennessee and can be transported to my forever home upon adoption.)February 17, 2025, 9:25 pm

She is just a sweet girl looking for love and a place to lounge around! Tammy is available for adoption with Saving Grace Dog Rescue of San Antonio. The adoption fee is $195 local or $395 out of state with transport. An adoption application and adoption contract are all required. Story
Ginger is definitely the most sweetest little girl you’ll meet! She weighs approximately 18 lbs and is about 1 year old. She has not had an easy life. She was found roaming the streets, sleeping wherever she could, and getting chased by male dogs. Unfortunately, she didn’t even make it past her first or 2nd heat before she was pregnant. She had 3 beautiful puppies. She spent the first few weeks of their young life providing them shelter and finding food so she could feed them. It wasn’t until they were about 6 weeks when a good Samaritan found her and got her and her puppies safe. We believe the puppies were born around mid October, and they are available for adoption also! 2 females and 1 male – Minnie, Millie and Milo. Ginger is such a doll. She loves to please her people and be around people. A complete lap dog and cuddle bug. Once you start petting her, she will roll on her back to get lots of belly rubs. She doesn’t care where you pet her, as long as you do. She’s SOOO happy. Ginger loves other dogs and gets along with every dog she has met. She was a GREAT mom to her little ones too. She doesn’t mind cats at all (please see video). She completely ignores the cats inside the foster’s home and gives them no mind. She would rather be looking at her humans than anything else. Ginger is leash trained and does great on the leash. Because she has limited house experience, she is learning potty training currently, so she does need a home that understands she is not fully house trained. We do believe it won’t take long to house train her with someone who is consistent and patient. Ginger does great with all ages, children and all people. There is no person she has met she doesn’t just melt into. If you’re looking for a super friendly, very sweet, people pleasing, loyal companion, smart, gentle, lapdog doggy – please consider Ginger today. All of dogs are fixed, heart worm negative, current on vaccinations, current on dewormer, current on preventions, microchipped and given a clean bill of health from a veterinarian prior to adoption. If you are interested in adopting, PLEASE fill out an application at www.pawsitive-impact-animal-rescue.org

Story
Millie, Minnie, and Milo are Ginger’s puppies that are ready for adoption! We don’t know their exact date of birth but we expect around October 20th, 2024 – which would make them about 5 months. Their mom was born outside and fended for herself her whole young life, until she gave birth outside to these 3 beautiful puppies. It wasn’t until they were about 6-7 weeks old that a good Samaritan found them and got them to safety. Until then, they relied solely on their also young mom to find them shelter, food and provide milk for nursing. These puppies only weigh about 17-19 lbs and we don’t believe they will get over 30 lbs full grown given their current age and weight. Their mom, Ginger, who is also available for adoption, is only 18 lbs, we do not know who dad is though. Millie, Minnie and Milo are beautiful merle/tri color puppies that are just such gentle souls, just like their mom. They are not super hyper like most puppies but do love to play. They are just learning what toys are and how to be puppies. They are very smart. They listen well and we know when they find their forever homes and get more one on one attention, they will thrive and show their true potential. Millie, Minnie and Milo LOVE other dogs and would do great with other dogs in the home or without. They would also be fine with cats with proper introductions. They LOVE children and would do wonderful with all ages of children. Quite affectionate when they get to know you (it doesn't take long!) VERY food motivated and will go for all treats. Millie, Minnie and Milo would love to go on adventures, explore new things and be apart of a home that wants to keep them forever. Adoption fee includes current vaccinations, dewormer, current preventions, microchip, and a clean bill of health from a veterinarian prior to adoption. If you’re interested in adopting please fill out an application at www.pawsitive-impact-animal-rescue.org
