I like to eat when I want (self-feeder) and like an egg cracked over my food. Mom gave me her country cooking leftovers on my kibble sometimes and it was special. Think of me for an addition to your home. Available dogs are met by appointment only and pre-approved adopters ONLY.Our dogs are currently in a foster homes which can answer your questions better than anyone else. We promise our fosters that we will qualify all potential adopters before we ask them to communicate with potential adopters.The application is the first step. We are 100% volunteer powered. Volunteers process the applications and need time above their personal needs and full-time jobs to process the apps.Please have patience. Russell Rescue dogs are fostered in the Middle Tennessee area. We do not ship/transport our dogs, so the approved adopter must be willing to travel to Tennessee. SOOOOOO how many people remember Starsky and Hutch?? Probably not too many! But if you DO, please don't prejudice us with the "wildness" of our namesakes'! OK, we are a LITTLE wild and cute cute cute! Found in a neighborhood together at about 2-3 months old, we could have had a very different life.... however, we were found by a couple of high school boys who immediately drove us to the rescue to see if they would help at 5pm on a Friday evening. AND IT WORKED!!! We are a couple of cute boys, we are barkers and that is part of the breed- Rat Terriers are busy and smart and active and they bark! We are cute when we bark though :) We do not have to be adopted together, although we love each other and have been together our WHOLE lives.... but we can be adopted apart. We may be nervous at first if adopted separately but if you follow the 3/3/3 rule, it will take us time to adjust in our new home anyway!! (you will find a copy of the 3/3/3 rules in our medical record if you adopt one or both of us) We are waiting for the right family/families to come along and we hope that we find you or you find us soooonnnnn!! Local adoption fee is $250 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $550 (includes transport to your area)

Jake is probably about 3 years old. His father was a full blooded Rat Terrier and his mother was a Rat Terrier/ Jack Russel mix. He is a very good/sweet dog and loves to hunt and chase critters. I moved way out in the middle of no-where about 10 years ago so I could let my dogs run free. Unfortunately there have been a couple of people move in close to me and they don't want my dogs on there property. I have 13 total Rat Terriers and I need to find homes for about 10 of them. Some of the dogs are good squirrel dogs. The father of Jake was the best Squirrel dog I've ever seen.

Mr. Fox is just the sweetest Rat Terrier boy who is young at just 6-8 months of age and a small 9 pounds. This doll baby loves everyone and he gets along with all the other dogs who are even bigger than he is. Not known about cats but he is so easy going that we know he would be friends with them too! He is so playful and charming all at the same time. He loves to cuddle with you and will sit on your lap all day if you let him. He adores being with his human. We think that older children might be best for him unless a young one has been around small dogs in the past. Mr. Fox is crate trained but needs a little more time to work on house training. He loves to go for rides in the car and he is very good on leash walks. This total package of a loving small dog is refreshing to offer. He has not been emotionally damaged and shows no shyness or traits of abuse from his past. We think he would flourish with another dog to play with in a fenced yard or a dog park.
