Story
COURTESY POST: Diesel is a 5 year old, 25 pounds dog who is 1/2 Rat Terrier and 1/2 French Bulldog. Diesel was adopted a year ago. He was a neglected country dog covered in ticks, but he immediately took to having a family and a warm home. In fact, he often prefers to lounge in his crate instead of go outside. He is an excellent squirrel dog, likely from having lived outside for much of his life. Diesel is a very sweet, loving dog. He would do better in a home with children over 6. We are a RESCUE GROUP, not a shelter, and all of our animals are in foster homes. To start the adoption process, email us at adoptions@earstexas.org requesting an application. Submitting an application does not commit you in any way, but helps us make the best match between people and our available dogs. Your current or past dogs must be inside dogs who have been spayed/neutered and are on heartworm prevention. All of the dogs in our program are inside dogs and are completely vetted including all vaccinations, spayed/neutered, free of internal parasites, microchipped, heartworm negative and on prevention before adoption. Our adoption process includes an application, check of vet records or personal references, interview, neutral site meet & greet with the dog and your family, and a home visit.

Story
Niko is a true lap dog with a lively interest in being outdoors. He was spotted multiple times running the streets before his rescue.  Ideally, he should have daily walks and a very secure backyard since he still seems to hear the call of the wild.  Niko also enjoys looking out the window and going to dog parks, is cooperative getting his harness on, can be left loose when you're out, is good on car rides, and is not a picky eater. Niko is generally low-maintenance with some high-maintenance moments.  He seems okay around respectful children (about 6+), and dogs of all sizes (favors larger dogs), he is playful, and has guard dog tendencies of barking at people/noises near your windows and doors.  He lunges towards squirrels and rabbits, but with bicyclists he ignores some and barks at others.  He alternates from walking with a confident, princely gait, to intensely following a trail nose down, to stopping and sprinkling multiple objects, to galloping towards a desirable tree. As energetic as Niko sometimes can be, he is a deep sleeper who loves to snooze on a dog bed with comfy blankets or get under the covers on a people bed.   Niko is chock full of personality, but the sort that is especially endearing.  He is a charmer with an independent streak.  But most of all he is a loving little guy who needs a loving home. ##2280678##

Story
How does a young, beautiful, and super sweet gal like Missy find herself homeless? That's the question everyone was asking when she turned up in a neighborhood in good condition but clearly afraid and on her own. Her finders report that she was anxious and shy at first, not comfortable being handled, and even snappy with strangers wanting to reach for her, but once she gets to know you and feels comfortable, she wants nothing more than to love and play. Missy is 1 ½ years-old and an accomplished toy fiend: balls, ropes, puzzles – toss her a toy and she is ready for action! Outdoors, she likes to chase birds around then sunbathe in a warm patch. Time for a walk? She loves that! And nothing seems to get her more excited than car rides. When she first came into her finders' home, she seemed unaccustomed to being patted and caressed but it didn't take too long for her to discover that affection is a good thing and she has added cuddling on the couch as an item on her 'favorites' list! At just 16 lbs., she is the perfect size for that. Unsurprisingly, Missy has some anxiety about being left alone, but when crated she is generally quiet and calm. She has made great progress with her house-training, and has become quite reliable when she gets ample opportunity to go outside. While her overall anxiety has decreased since being taken in, she still gets very shaken at loud noises or any type of raised voice, and doesn't seem comfortable around brooms when they're being used. Unpredictable young children would probably be too much for her, but she would likely do well with older kids who are interested in a dog that is clever enough to learn some tricks! Currently she knows 'sit' and 'back', but she is eager to learn more. One thing she is NOT eager about, however, is other dogs and cats, who cause her great agitation, so she is seeking a new adoptive home where she can be an only pet. See more photos of Missy in her online album at https://imageevent.com/newrattitude/missyBeginning March 1, 2025, our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs or $300 for puppies under 6 months old. If you are interested in adopting this dog, PLEASE READ THE DETAILED ADOPTION PROCESS information on our website at www. NewRattitude.org/adopt/  From there, you can access our adoption application or contact our Adoption Team for more info. March 20, 2025, 5:21 pm
