Story
Howdy chums, it’s me, Laith! I am a short, fat Redbone Coonhound mix, who weighs about 55 pounds and I'm about 6-7 years old. Dangit, I’m ready for my forever home. After living in the shelter and in a foster home forever, I declare that it’s high time for me to curl up on my forever couch and chew on some of those tasty forever bones and toys. I’ve come a heck of a long way from my shelter days. My foster mom’s been showing me all kinds of house dog stuff and I’m proud to say that I’m not only house trained, but I’ve got great inside manners. I don’t crate all that well but friend, you don’t even really need to crate me; I mostly like to curl up and sleep while you’re gone. Now, I’ve gotta be honest- if you try and man handle me, I will be growly and grumpy (so please don’t pull me off your couch). However, if you got a treat and some kind words, I’ll do just about anything for you; all this simple hound needs is a little kindness and some bribery. After living in a great foster home with fenced yards and other dogs, I’m confident that I’d do best in a home with a fenced yard and another dog. My favorite things in the world are car rides and playing with other dogs. So if you’re looking for a copilot to keep that passenger seat toasty, buddy, you’re looking at me! A reduced adoption fee of $100 does apply for Laith, our seniors, special medical and behavioral needs dogs and other "slow to adopt" dogs! Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and are scheduling individual adoptions in the Waynesboro, VA area during the pandemic. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. Story
Sweet McKinley is a one-year-old Beagle/Hound mix with a heart of gold and the gentlest soul. This beautiful girl has had a rough start and is now looking for a loving home where she can recover and thrive. Recently, McKinley tested positive for heartworm and Lyme disease, and she needs a safe, quiet place to rest and recover during her heartworm treatment. Whether you're interested in fostering or adopting, McKinley would love to find someone with patience, kindness, and a calm environment to help her blossom. While very shy, McKinley’s sweetness shines through once she feels safe. She needs someone who can go slow, give her space, and allow her to build trust at her own pace. With gentle care, McKinley will reward you with love and loyalty. McKinley’s Highlights: - Spayed, microchipped, and on monthly preventatives - Needs a foster or adoptive home to recover from heartworm treatment - Very sweet but requires a slow and patient approach - Would do best in a calm and quiet home If you think you could be the safe haven McKinley needs, please reach out to us. Your love and patience could be the turning point in this sweet girl’s life. Help McKinley find the comfort and care she truly deserves! 💕

Story
Murray is 9 years young and ready to settle into his forever home—he just needs someone to finally notice him! He’s been with DDBBR for a year and a half now, and honestly, we have no idea why. Maybe he’s just too easygoing? Too friendly? Too perfect? Murray is our go-to guy for adoption events because he’s social, friendly, and gets along with both humans and dogs. He enjoys a good play session but isn’t bouncing off the walls—those days are behind him. He’s reached the wise and chill phase of life, where he prefers relaxed strolls, comfy naps, and good company. No need for a crate—Murray is housetrained and trustworthy when left alone. He’d do best in a home without cats but could happily live with respectful kids. He’s a laidback, overlooked gem of a dog, and we’re hoping 2025 is the year someone finally gives him the home he deserves. Could that someone be you? Don’t let this easygoing guy fly under the radar any longer! 🐶💛
