She is a very well mannered dog who just doesn’t know how big she is around small kids, so she needs a home without small children. Dixie is a high energy dog who loves to play fetch but loves to play frisbee even more. She loves going on long walks, runs. She is potty trained. She knows the basics - sit, lay, off, place, shake. She loves to cuddle. She needs lots of room to run and play, she is scared of new people and takes awhile to get used to them. Dixie would be best as the only pet. Potential adopters are responsible for communicating directly with the pet's guardian. Malakai is an outdoor dog primarily. This is due to allergies causing oily skin and a pungent smell. If you have hard wood floors or tile, he really enjoys time inside, but he will ruin fabric or carpet. He is definitely more friendly with Women, being aggressive to unfamiliar men. We believe this is mostly due to high irritation, he's usually much more calm after a bath and mattes are trimmed off. Malakai doesn't go around children so it's not clear of his temperament around them. He will tolerate space with familiar dogs but will immediately attack unfamiliar animals. He does not like cats and will chase them. Malakai is very eager for trips and car rides, he loves walks and enjoys being groomed so long as you're sensitive and comforting. Malakai has issues, he's prone to ear infections, oily skin, and has some unknown bumps we haven't been able to get biopsies for. He's housebroken but won't tell you when he needs to go, which is why its suggested he's only let inside for up to 3-6 hours at a time, and he has a rough temperament to people he doesn't like. With all that said, if he likes you he is a really good dog, he's smart and has good manners. Nova is a big beautiful girl, weighing in at over 100 pounds. She was surrendered due to divorce with her sister Roxy. They get along well but they are not a bonded pair. Nova is the alpha of the 2 even though she is the younger and smaller of the 2. She does well with some dogs, but due to her size, caution needs to be exercised during the introduction. She is very enthusiastic on a leash and is a heavy puller. She is extremely sweet with people but is shy upon first meet and will often hide behind a mouth full of toys for security. Absolutely NO CATS.   If you would like to meet any of our pets, they are available for viewing, every single day from noon until 3:30pm. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Kanga is sweet as can be, crate trained, working on house training & commands. She also might be a little spoiled by her foster family. Miss Kanga adores everyone. She has the cutest floppy ears & underbite!Kanga & her littermates were dumped on the side of the road. They were found malnourished with Demodex mange & also had respiratory infections. We were able to find five fosters to save this litter. (Eeyore's foster sent in a DNA test. The results are in the photos!) Adopt this girl!   CARE's adoption fee is $250 for dogs/puppies and $100 for cats/kittens and an additional $150 neuter deposit will be required for any animals adopted prior to their spay/neuter surgery (and the deposit will be refunded when the approved adopter brings the animal to his/her CARE vet appointment in COLUMBUS, INDIANA once scheduled). All CARE animals arrive in their forever homes current on age appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, as well as microchipped and spay/neutered (or scheduled for the same).   CARE is an all-volunteer and foster-based rescue organization. We do not have a shelter facility and do not have any employees monitoring inbound applications and emails. Applications are reviewed by each animal’s volunteer foster home. It may be several days before you hear from this animal’s foster home. Online Adoption Application › Meela is a wonderful joy to have. She's fully potty trained, crate trained, great with other dogs, great with cats, great with farm animals such as chickens and goats. Overall she is a quiet, calm girl who can be shy at times (submissive around other dogs). She did have a dislocated hip that was fixed with an FHO surgery. Her other hip is fractured and healing well on its own. She gets around great and is happy to live her life.
