**Meet Maximus; Your New Best Friend!** Maximus is a 7.5-year-old AKC registered Rottweiler with a heart as big as his energy! This friendly, loyal, and loving boy is looking for his forever home where he can share his boundless affection and enjoy plenty of playtime. Maximus has been a joy to be around, and hs known for being great with both other dogs and kids, making him the perfect family companion. Despite his age, Maximus still has plenty of energy and loves to be active whether going for walks, playing fetch, or simply being by your side. His loving and kind nature makes him a wonderful addition to any household. Maximus is house-trained, well-behaved, and very easy to love. Unfortunately, due to my medical reasons, he is looking for a new home where he can continue to thrive and be spoiled with love and care. Story
Meet Bumblebee, a busy bee of a young dog who is eager to explore the world! She is curious about everything and loves to run and play with her toys, tossing them about and entertaining herself, while occasionally checking in to see what the humans are doing. She has a blast playing with other dogs and would love a home with a compatible dog or two to wrestle, chase and be chased, and to show her the ropes of being a dog. Bumblebee keeps a clean kennel and always tries to potty outside. Bumblebee knows sit, and with an active mind and a desire for high-value treats, is a great candidate for further training and possibly even agility work. She may also make a great running buddy, as she loves the outdoors and running! If you`re looking for a loyal, intelligent, and playful companion, Bumblebee is ready to buzz his way into your heart!

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.NOTE- ROSA IS LISTED AS A COURTESY FOR ANOTHER RESCUE ORGANIZATION.  PLEASE SEE CONTACT INFO BELOW. Rosa is a mature adult Rotteweiler who may be 7-9 years old and weighs about 90 pounds. Even though Rosa was missing some hair and hasn't been taken the best care of, someone taught her how to sit and shake hands. She's a sensitive girl who was been upset by losing her family and is comforted by the presense of her foster mom. She would even happier in her very own home with a new family!Rosa is a strong girl who will need a physically capable adopter as she can pull pretty hard on leash. She has been reactive to other dogs and cats in her foster home so being an only child will set her up to be the most successful! We know there are so many great people out there how love rotties! We just need to find one that will give Rosa the happy ending we want for her!A reduced adoption fee of $100 does apply for Rosa, our seniors, special medical and behavioral needs dogs and other 'slow to adopt' dogs!Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. Story
Hey there, I am Xavier, a 4 year old with a heart as big as I am! I may be large in size, but I promise I`m just a big ol` teddy bear at heart. I am crate trained, so I`m pretty well behaved inside (even thought I`ll always be up for some fun adventures outside!) I`m friendly with most dogs- after all, a dog`s gotta have his pack right? If you are looking for a loyal companion to be your sidekick, bark when someone is at the door that I don`t know, and shower you with affection, I could be the one. I may be big, but my love is bigger! Let`s go on walks, play fetch, or just hang out. I am ready meet my forever family- could it be yours? We recommend submitting a general online adoption application and then heading to the Baltimore Humane Society`s Adoption Center at 1601 Nicodemus Road, Reisterstown, MD 21136 during our normal adoption hours (Mon: 12-4pm and Tues-Sun: 12-5pm) to meet our adoptable pets. DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Athena is a serbian rottweiler, is 7yo, weighs 75lbs, is spayed, is not up to date on her vaccines, and is not microchipped.  Athena knows the following commands:  sit, stay, lay down.  Athena dislikes/fears the vet, being approached aggressively; some men make her nervous.  She is kept in the home during the day and sleeps in her crate at night.  She loves car rides, as she gets excited and loves the windows opened.  Athena's guardian adds:  "... extremely loyal, fast learner, eager to please and loves affection.  We have had a dog behavioralist (Tony) take her almost every weekend for the past year to help socialize her and ease her anxiety.  If you have an interest in adopting her, we ask that you meet with Tony so he can make sure she is a good fit for your home.  We will provide all the supplies you will need to take care of her. A kennel, dog bed, leash, collar, dog food container, brush, dog hair vacuum, ect." Athena's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome her:  "We can no longer take care of her." Lunge incident:  on 1 September 2003, Athena lunged at a neighbor's cat; there was no contact; animal control was not involved.  Athena's guardian explains:   "She never touched our neighbor.  I had her on a leash out for a walk.  He came around his car and approached her aggressively.  She was barking at him but he still kept coming closer.  She then lunged at him when he came within 2 feet of her.  He backed off after that.  I have had a dog behavioralist take her every weekend since then." Athena's guardian states the following regarding children:  Athena lives with young children, ages 2 and 4, so her guardian doesn't recommend her living with smaller children, stating...      "Athena is extremely patient with small children. My two children have played with her ears, grabbed her from behind, grabbed her face, played with her paws, cuddled her in her bed, given her treats, etc. Her only downfall is not realizing her own size. If she is excited to get outside and the children are in the path, she might graze them and knock them over with her shoulder."     Athena's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Although Athena has lived with dogs, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with dogs, stating...      "Athena has lived with a small Shih Tzu and a Black Lab mix in her first home. She has also been introduced to a few different dogs in the past year and been totally fine with most of them. There have been a couple times though that she does not get a long with another dog and can become aggressive. If the new home does have another dog, an introduction would need to be done to make sure they get along." Athena's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Since Athena hasn't lived with cats, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with cats, stating "She chases them and tries to grab them with her mouth". Athena's guardian describes her as: Playful Affectionate Protective Nervous House-Trained Crate-Trained Athena's guardian describes her ideal future home:         "Athena would do great in a chill home environment, she is a bit of a homebody, she loves to cuddle and get a lot of love and affection, a nice yard that is fenced in would do great for her excercise as she loves to play fetch and sniff around the outdoors, it doesn't take much for her to get tired out though and after a few throws she will be happy to chill next to you and enjoy the company."
