Meet Donatello! This chill pup is looking for a calm home where he will get lots of walks and love. Donatello is a gentle and obedient leash walker. He loves a good treat but can sometimes get overexcited when accepting them. Donatello is more interested in being near his person for pets than playing with toys. He starts off timid but warms up quickly. Donatello loves trail walking and would make a great hiking companion. He is best suited for an adult only home or a home with older children. Donatello is a great pup! Come in and meet him today!

*Update 2.0- Dallas was again adopted and returned when he became "too dependent" on his people. *Update - Dallas was adopted but returned after a nip to the adopter. Acclimation to a new home and family (especially a Rottweiler) takes weeks to months. He needs a patient family to take their tome building a relationship and taking things slow as he adjusts. Ask us for more information on his learned history from the recent home and strategies to help him settle in.  DALLAS is a new resident at VBACAC. He is just about 2 years old and a big boy weighing at 100lbs. We even know his birthday, April 22, 2022. Dallas was surrendered through no fault of his own but instead housing issues. He has lived with 6-year-old children with whom he was friendly and playful. Dallas was allowed to roam free in his home when left alone. He also loves his own doggie bed. He is house trained and loves to play with any kind of toy, balls, frisbees, squeaky toys, and tug toys. He is used to being walked a couple times daily and enjoys car rides and adventures.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 30, 2025, 11:03 am

Story
This big guy is Judd! He was transferred to us from one of our partner shelters and is looking for his forever home! Judd has made his way into his adult years and because of that he has started to develop some joint issues so the vets recommend he stay on some kind of joint supplement long term. Due to his size we are requiring that children in the home be 6 years old or older. Also, if you rent, keep in mind that many properties do not allow Rottweilers or large dogs. Judd has had a recent entropion repair which our kennel staff can discuss, but thankfully the entire cost has been covered by gracious donor! Judd`s adoption fee has been partially covered as well, so all this remains is $100. If you have any questions or if you would like a visit with this gentle & handsome giant, please find a kennel technician and they will be happy to assist!

Story
Sanford is a very strong and bigger boy looking for his perfect family here at the beach. Sanford was previously heartworm positive and was treated at a local low cost clinic. His reason for surrender was no fault of his own, he`s a strong and big boy and this proved to be a little much for his older owner. While that wasn`t the perfect match, he`s previous owner did take good care of him getting his heartworm treatment done! Sanford will need a repeat heartworm test in April to confirm the treatment worked. He will also need a dental but our staff can go more in depth with his potential new family over this. Thankfully the cost of both his dental & his adoption fee has been covered by very generous donors! We would require children 12 and up in his future home and to meet any resident dogs to make sure everyone got along. We think Sanford would do best with a backyard and some space to run but if you do not have a fence it will be important you can handle this strong boy on walks. If you would like to meet Sanford or have more questions please speak with our kennel staff.

Story
Maxx is a two year old Rottie that was surrendered when his owner could no longer take care of him. Maxx is a big boy that exhibits typical breed traits. He does resource guard high value items like treats and toys. For this reason he is looking for an owner with Rottie experience and a home without children. Maxx loves playing tug-of-war and enjoys relaxing with his people. It does take him time to warm up to new people, but once he does, he is very friendly and loyal. If Maxx seems like a good fit for your home, he's accepting visitors Saturday-Thursday from 12-5pm.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 13, 2025, 10:52 am

Story
Spike is a purebred American boxer. He is territorial with food and bones, but he’s gotten better since I’ve adopted him. He’s pretty good with cats and dogs that are around his size. He is very affectionate and likes to be around his owner. He loves bones to death and enjoys walks. The SPCA informed me he has snapped at children and toddlers, he has behavioral issues and territorial issues. he needs someone who can be around him often and help him learn not to do that. I am away from home quite a bit and cannot properly train and give him attention. I need someone who is willing to adopt him and take care of him. Will need to transfer ownership through SPCA.
