Story
had my son for 7 years. He is family friendly. He is good with kids but he just cannot control his strength so I put no as he does like to lean and play rough as long as you watch him he should be fine. He is house trained by me. He knows to sit, paw, play dead, he knows how to hold his food until I tell him so. Sometimes he slips and will eat anyways. He is good with just about everything never bit anyone. I will say he is my only dog so hes never had any other dog take his food and i realized when he did eat along with others he would become territorial. I recommend feeding him and just let him eat till he is finished to play with him. Currently I am moving away and can no longer take him with me. I'm sad to let him go but my new place will not let me keep him. I want to find him a home where he will live the remaining of his life loved. If anyone is interested i do not need a rehoming fee. I just want someone to love him and take him in as I can no longer do that. Thank you.

Story
Juju is a sweet and well-tempered 5-year-old dog we adopted from the Northampton Animal Shelter (North NC) to save him from being euthanized due to overcrowding. He has been an incredible companion and gets along wonderfully with our Husky, who is usually very selective about other dogs. Juju is down to do anything, he's just happy to tag along. While Juju has early signs of hip dysplasia and arthritis, he hasn’t shown any signs of pain or discomfort so far. However, he does have some behavioral challenges, such as chewing household items and occasional accidents, which is why he is crated when we’re not home or at night. Unfortunately, with my night shifts and my girlfriend’s demanding travel schedule, Juju spends far too much time in his crate. Given his condition, we feel our current lifestyle isn’t fair to him. Juju would thrive in with someone who works from home or has a consistent schedule to allow him more free time out of the crate and proper training.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Meet Atlas, a sweet and affectionate 6-month-old Rottweiler who’s ready to find his forever home! Atlas is already proving to be a great companion, with a calm demeanor, friendly personality, and a love for both people and other dogs. He’s the perfect combination of playful and relaxed—he loves to run around with other dogs, but he’s also just as content snuggling up for some quiet affection. Atlas is a gentle soul with a heart full of love. He’s affectionate, enjoys being around his people, and loves playing with toys. He’s calm in the house and has adjusted beautifully to a multi-dog environment, getting along wonderfully with his canine housemates—whether big or small. He’s also got a good sense of humor, often collecting shoes (but he doesn’t chew on them, just “collects” them). While Atlas doesn’t bark much, he will join in when his male Husky housemate gets vocal or when he’s trying to get his female Husky sibling to play outside. He’s definitely a fun-loving pup who enjoys the company of others! Atlas is crate-trained and has made great progress with house training. He’s been doing his business outside, but as a precaution (and in the spirit of fairness with the other dog), he wears a belly band indoors to prevent any marking competition with his male dog buddy. He’s highly food-motivated, which makes him an eager learner—he’s already picking up “sit” like a pro! With some continued guidance, Atlas will become an even more well-rounded pup. Atlas would thrive in a home with an active family who can give him the love and attention he deserves. He’s great with older kids and would do well with another dog to play with, or as an only dog with plenty of attention and playtime. While he’s doing well in his current home with three dogs, he’d also be comfortable in a quieter environment as long as he gets daily interaction and mental stimulation. Atlas is looking for a family that will continue his training and give him lots of love. He’s a smart, affectionate boy who just needs a little guidance to continue his journey into becoming the perfect companion!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 24, 2025, 6:12 pm

Story
XENA is now in a short-term foster home and living large! This adorable 1 year old has put on some much needed weight and looks amazing (she weighs approx. 67 pounds).. Xena is super sweet but slower to warm up to men. She appeared to be dog friendly at the shelter - we are going slow on introductions in her foster home. Xena is learning to enjoy a variety of new toys and seems quite pleased with her new choices. She does the cutest "happy dance" when it is her time for one-on-one time with her foster! Xena is current on vaccines, crate trained and has been accident free in her foster home. She will meet the vet this week (weather permitting) and get scheduled for her spay. She is being treated for heartworms (rescue pays for). *** ADOPTION DETAILS: Each dog is spayed, neutered, (unless medically on hold or too young), up to date on shots, dewormed, and microchipped. At this time, due to the size of our rescue, adoptions are limited to NORTH CAROLINA, SOUTH CAROLINA, VIRGINIA and +/-6 hours from Raleigh, NC. ADOPTION FEE: Our total adoption fee is $400, including a non-refundable $25 application fee. Fee can be paid using the "DONATE" button on our website (www.RottweilerHeartsRescue.org) - please indicate in the notes that it is for an application fee, and the intended dog. If you have any questions, please email our adoption coordinator at Rottiehearts@gmail.com!

Story
Hello there, I am Roxy! The shelter I am a 2 years old, but my friends think I might be a little younger because I am so puppy like! I am a Rottweiler mix that heavily favors the Rottweiler breed in looks and personality. My friends say I am very friendly and go up to everyone, but I’m also a little timid at first, preferring to get butt scratches until I warm up to you and become a cuddly sweetheart! I am also vocal and love to tell you about my thoughts, so wouldn’t be a good apartment dog. I am great with people of all ages, including little kids, but would prefer a home with older kids because I can be a bit timid at first and prefer a calmer environment to settle in. I LOVE other dogs and my ideal home would have a playful, spunky doggy friend for me, but it is not required. I want to play with every dog including the little dogs I have met. I am okay with cats, and believe I could live peacefully in a home with a cat with a slow introduction. I am crate trained, but vocal in the crate when you’re nearby because I want to be with the people. I walk fantastically on leash and know sit! I am working on learning other manners and tricks! Please come meet me at Petco in Wilmington on Saturdays from 11:00-3:00 or call Jill at 910-620-3783 . January 19, 2025, 8:19 pm
