Story
Meet Max Mailman! Little Max's mom fell asleep in her recliner and sadly never woke up. Friends of ours from the San Diego House Rabbit Society were called to her house, because her rabbits were micro-chipped to their organization. They retrieved the rabbits and offered to help place her beloved dog, Max, too. They called us, and Max became a Frosted Face on November 9, 2022. He is 14 years old and weighs 20 lbs. We've had a bunch of Frosted Faces named "Max", so he got the fun nickname Max Mailman because he is so friendly, and his ears are in the wind as he "rushes from house to house," more like person to person seeking pets in the yard! Like many seniors, Max is vision impaired, but he at least sees shadows. It doesn't slow him down either! Max Mailman loves going on our weekly FFF hikes, and he glides along the trails gracefully with his long legs. He acts younger than his years! Max is a super sweet, fun-sized guy who has lived with bunnies, dogs, cats, and horses! He has been living in a Foster home since December while he waits for his forever family. His Foster Mom shares: "Max is the perfect companion! He just wants to be close to his person. He enjoys laying on the couch with me, but he also sleeps in his dog bed. Max is very friendly with people and is always wagging his tail. He does so well in a home! Max seems to like all food and likes to be left alone while eating. He loves to run when he is outside to go potty. While he does sometimes have accidents inside, it's manageable by taking him outside frequently and using diapers. Max doesn't like my cats, because due to his poor vision, he can't always see when they're nearby. He will try to chase them if he sees one, but he's too slow for them though! Max is a great guy, very quiet and always ready to give kisses & tail wags. He just wants someone to love. He follows me around the house all the time. He loves hanging out in the kitchen. He enjoys napping most of the day and sleeps well through the night." Max Mailman has a great foster home, but he is still looking for his forever home. Might it be with YOU?

Story
Meet Yogi! In October 2024, we rescued 12-year-old Yogi from Baldwin Park Shelter, where he had been brought as a stray. He is a fun and quirky little guy that needs a family who will be patient and give him time to settle in and feel comfortable. Might you be the understanding forever family Yogi needs? Yogi has been thriving in his Foster home. His Foster Mom reports it took a few weeks for him to get completely comfortable with her. Now, they share cuddles and kisses, and he is her little shadow! She is continuing to work with Yogi to be comfortable with others, and he has come a long way, although he can still get a bit scared. Yogi is noww allowing others to touch him now without reacting, and this is tremendous progress! Yogi is great with other animals! He gets along well with the dog in his Foster home and with other dogs and cats he's met. Yogi has somewhat limited hearing and sight, but he knows where his bed is and even puts himself in his soft enclosure at night. He doesn't have separation anxiety. Because he has no teeth, Yogi uses his gums and floppy tongue, so he needs a bigger bowl for his food. He's a foodie who gets so excited during meal prep that he starts dancing around the kitchen! Yogi loves going outside, and as long as he goes out every few hours, he doesn't have potty accidents. He walks to the door but doesn't vocally alert you when he needs to go. He's the sweetest boy, who loves to sleep and eat. He does zoomies when his foster mom gets home from work. Yogi is ready for his forever home! A little patience pays off with this sweet dog who really wants love and attention. If you're looking for a quirky, loving companion who's come a long way, Yogi might be the perfect addition to your family. Yogi would thrive in a home with another chill dog. He needs a family that can offer him patience and time to build trust and feel secure. If you have a spot in your heart for Yogi, please email our Placement Coordinators at adopt@frostedfacesfoundation.org.

Story
Meet Yolo! Yolo entered Baldwin Park Shelter as a stray, and when he wasn't claimed, we scooped him up on December 16th to become a Frosted Face. Yolo is around 14 years old, weighs 17 lbs., and is very sweet. Shortly after Yolo arrived, he left on a two-week Frosted Fling for the holidays. We are so grateful to his Fling Family for extending their time with Yolo, so he could recover from surgery on January 9th to repair a perineal hernia. He was also neutered. Fortunately, Yolo came through surgery very well, did not bother the incisions, and was able to stop wearing an e-collar much earlier than planned. He is so much healthier and happier than he was two months ago! Thanks to Yolo's Fling Family, we have learned a lot about what he is like in a home setting with other dogs and the type of care he needs to thrive. They share: "Yolo loves a good cuddle. He is wonderful with adults, but because of his vision he does startle if someone approaches him without giving a verbal cue, but he has never reacted badly. Yolo prefers to eat with our other dogs but never guards his food (even when they steal pieces from him). He is a member of the clean bowl club, always finishes his food but does not try to steal the food from other dogs. He also prefers to eat his kibble from a snuffle mat instead of a bowl, plays with a food toy and shares it with his Fling "sister. Yolo's exercise tolerance is limited to less than 1/4 mile. Because of his visual impairment, he needs to be watched carefully, so that he does not bump into sharp bushes/objects or fall off curbs. He would do well with a halo harness. He does not do well on stairs (he "surfed down a few steps on his belly because he could not see the height/depth of the stair going down. He does not attempt to climb stairs, possibly due to some hip or shoulder arthritis. Mostly we carry him down anything more than 3 steps). We use baby gates to protect him from unsupervised stair surfing. Yolo would do well in a single story home or a home where there are few steps. Yolo does well with dogs his size, and has had no reactivity to them even when they are reactive or aggressive towards him. He just gets out of harm's way. He does want to snuggle with the other dogs when they let him. He is a little timid around big dogs because he can't see them so we limit his exposure only to big dogs that we know well. He does not join in barking even when our other dogs are barking at deliverymen. His only barking has been when he is hungry or when he needs to go out to potty. He rides in the car with our two dogs with no problem and sits in his place. Yolo is an excellent traveler, he makes himself comfortable on the van floor (of our Sprinter van, between the front seats) with his buddy or on the passenger's lap, with no fuss at all. He went all the way to Oregon, and back over a 2-week trip. Yolo was a perfect house guest, with no accidents or issues with a new environment (he liked joining in with his pals when barking at squirrels and quail). He loved exploring the yard, sniffing around the travel rest stops and exploring our Harvest Host wineries (being a French poode, he loves the cafe scene, of course, and was a perfect gentleman while we had our wine tastings). Yolo seems so much happier and healthier over the last 6 weeks. We really want to find a forever family who would love and appreciate this mellow little fellow." Yolo feels like a new man and is ready for a loving home where he will be cherished for the rest of his life. Might that be with you?
