Story
Danger is almost 8 years old and very loving - he enjoys sleeping on or around you at night and when reading or watching TV. He likes to play fetch with his little rubber lizard toys and is great around other cats and children of all ages. He's pretty mellow and likes being picked up and petted or carried around. Looking for a loving home for him due to a family member's allergies that haven't improved with medical treatment. Will include his toys, food and litter box if you would like.

Story
Jiya is a sweet, 2-year-old lady who may be small in size but huge on personality! At just a fraction of the size of a typical cat, she’s what we like to call a perma-kitten—tiny, cute, and packed with charm. And while her funny, wise old man face might make her seem like she’s seen it all, don’t be fooled—Jiya is all lady, full of sweetness and grace. She loves to hang out in the back by the desk in the adoption center, cozy on her favorite cat tree, where she keeps a close eye on all the activity. Whether it's watching the other cats play or observing humans as they pass by, Jiya’s keen gaze doesn’t miss a thing. If you’re looking for a quirky, petite companion with an adorably wise expression and a whole lot of heart, Jiya just might be the perfect match for you! Come meet this sweet, fluffy lady at the adoption center and let her steal your heart. DOB: 2/7/2023 Come meet me at the cage-free Adoption Center! All cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and tested for FIV/FeLV. **If interested in adopting me, please fill out an online adoption application at https://colonycats.org/adoption_app.html to expedite the process. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application Dusty is a strikingly handsome Tuxedo cat with a commanding presence. Large and well-built, he carries himself with quiet confidence, his sleek black-and-white coat always impeccably groomed as if he knows he’s a gentleman among felines. Background: Dusty was abandoned outside and spent some time surviving the street, where he was possibly harassed by street dogs and other cats. He was rescued by a good Samaritan and has been settling well in his foster home. From his habits and demeanor, it is evident that he is not a stray cat. The vet estimated his age to be 5 years but he acts more like a 2-year-old. Personality: Dusty is the embodiment of kindness and serenity. He moves with a graceful ease, always observing the world around him with calm curiosity. He loves to play and will play with feather toys on a string, and crinkly balls. He has a gentle soul and likes to be petted. He loves to be around his people without being too demanding. He will sit with you, watch TV with you, and will prefer to sleep in the same room as you (if not in the same bed). Dusty will do fine if left alone for a few hours a day (and more if he has other cat friends in the home). Dusty will do great with other friendly cats if introduced properly. However, he is terrified of dogs and must go to a dog-free home. He is fine with older children. At his foster home, he has never had a problem with litter-box usage. To thrive in a new home, Dusty will need a quiet space to decompress. Too much stimulation at first may make him retreat, so patience is key. Once he feels safe, he becomes a steadfast, affectionate companion who brings warmth and peace to any home. Health: Dusty is up to date on vaccinations and has been examined by a vet. He had a few damaged teeth removed, likely from his time on the streets, but this does not affect his ability to eat dry or wet food. He is otherwise healthy, agile, and athletic. Dusty’s adoption fee is $200.00. This includes spay/neuter, FVRCP Vaccine, Rabies Vaccine, Combo test (neg/neg), dewormer, flea prevention, microchip and wellness visit. For more information, please contact Maine Coon Rescue at: adoption@mainecoonrescue.net DOB (approx): November 22, 2019 Location: Columbus, Ohio 43209 Available for Adoption: NOW Dusty is available to be adopted within 2 hours of Columbus, Ohio. Story
Noni is a sweet, independent and laid-back 2 year old cat. He loves staring in the window, playing fetch with his favorite spring toy and late night cuddles. He loves to play as he is still very young. And if there’s a fly in the house, rest assured he will be determined to catch it. I rescued him as a stray during pandemic as a friend for my dog during the days I had to work. He’s good with both dogs and cats as long as he is gradually introduced, he will adjust over time. He’s easily persuaded with food and treats. He HATES being brushed and will try to bite the brush. But he will let a groomer touch him so no worries there. He’s up to date on all of his shots. My boyfriend is allergic and the medicine he takes is starting to not work anymore. Plus since we moved from Cincinnati I had to take a lower paying job so affording him and my dog had become a bit much for us. We are looking for someone who can give the proper cat love he needs.

Story
Star is in search of his forever home! I'd love to have him rehomed with his best friend, my other cat, Draco who is also listed here (Though not necessary) They've been together Star's whole life (7 years). It would be ideal for their sake/hearts/happiness. It would also make the transition for Star so much easier. This sweet cat is **severely afraid of all men & dogs**, and most other humans. **HE REQUIRES AN ALL FEMALE HOME** (It may be because of the horrible situation he was in prior to me rescuing him?). PLEASE *NO* home with dogs or men for Star!! He's super afraid and it'd be absolutley miserable for him (Please don't think your dog or male companion may be the exception, for Star's happiness/well being, please I beg, thank you). Please *no smoking or vaping of any kind*!! He's indoor only, but absolutely LOVES to look out the windows at birds!! Once he trusts you, he's super affectionate and will want to cuddle on your chest

Story
We adopted Princess as a kitten and have had her for over 7 years. She will be 8 in May. She is sweet and sassy, liking cuddles in the evening. She has IBS and gets medicine daily and she eats a prescription food. She likely needs a different medication as the transdermal isn’t working well. She isn’t happy with our busy lifestyle as a family of 5 and we can’t give her the best care she needs. She would do best with no children or other pets.

Story
Our family adopted Maddie when she was left after boarding at a vet clinics. She is about 9 years old. She’s fairly shy but likes to spend time nearby when the home is quiet. Would be great for a senior though she tolerates children. She’s not gotten along with our dog at all and would do best without dogs in the home.

Story
Marshmallow is a sweet, three year old blue-eyed girl who has very poor eyesight and pretty dilated pupils (this is not new for her). Her tail is on the fluffier side and her fur is more of a medium length. She can track light but not a whole lot more. She is extremely friendly and likes people & attention, but she is very afraid of other cats -- she does need to be an only pet and would do best in a quiet home. Marshmallow has no trouble finding her litterbox and seems to hear just fine. She was attacked by a dog in her previous home and is TERRIFIED of dogs. She has a $100 adoption fee. All cats adopted through our rescue are age appropriately vaccinated including rabies & FVRCP/Feline Leukemia vaccines, dewormed & free of fleas, combo tested (negative unless otherwise noted), microchipped and spayed/neutered before adoptions are finalized. If you would like to adopt, please fill out the application through the link or the website at -www.whiskersofohio.org - please note that the "I'm interested" tab on Petfinder does NOT act as an application, this should only be used for specific questions before committing to an adoption. You will receive an email confirmation when your application goes through. We make no breed guarantees; we are a rescue, not a breeder. Please only apply for a specific kitten if you are committed to adopting! Our workers are all volunteers and it takes time to process applications. We are a registered, volunteer run 501c3 non-profit organization. Free transport is regularly available to Wayne/Holmes County areas! We do have the ability to fly a cat or pair of kittens via Southwest's SWATT program to any location served by Southwest Airlines. It isn't free but has been a great way to transport animals in a timely manner.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Morgan is a pretty tortie who has lived almost all of her life in her foster home. Morgan wants attention on her own terms. She will sometimes sit in her foster daddy's lap. Morgan loves pate canned cat food and has had all her teeth removed because of gum problems, but can still eat dry food a little. Those problems no longer exist and she is feeling a whole lot better!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application today at https://fflah.rescuegroups.org//forms November 4, 2024, 7:02 pm

Adopting a Scottish Fold

Frequently asked questions about acquiring an Scottish Fold - the pros and cons of adopting versus going through a breeder, and associated costs.

The easiest way to adopt a Scottish Fold would be through a rescue that specializes in Scottish Folds. A great place to start would be by starting a breed search on Adopt a Pet. The search will show you all the available Scottish Folds in your area.

A Scottish Fold cat costs around $75 to $100 when adopted from a rescue or shelter. If you buy a Scottish Fold from a breeder, it can be expensive, typically between $1,000 and $2,000 or more.

Scottish Fold fun facts

Fun Facts:

The folded down ear gene is dominant, which meant it was quite easy to propagate the breed, given that about half of each litter had folded down ears.

The Scottish Fold was initially referred to as the Lops breed (named after a lop-ear rabbit).

Though their ears may be folded, they are fully functional and can still move around to listen and react to their surroundings.
