Story
STREET SURVIVOR WITH A HEART OF GOLD  DOB 12/23/18 Hey there, everyone! I’m Little George, a dashing 12-pound Chartreux mix gent with a cheerful demeanor that greets everyone I meet with a soft, rumbling purr and an enthusiastic nuzzle. My plush fur is medium-short and slightly wooly in texture like a purebred Chartreux, although a DNA test would probably prove otherwise. The first time that you pet me will be nothing short of magical because my velvety fur will feel like fluffy silk beneath your fingers. Characteristic to this rare breed, I’m a little “meow-whisperer” – when I’m hungry and try to meow, it sounds like a baby. Yes, the fella with the big round head, golden-globe eyes, and burly body has a surprisingly tiny voice! For about three years, I was the mysterious, silver-coated guardian of my future foster pawrents’ street. I’d cautiously watch them from a distance with wary but curious eyes. They never missed an opportunity to leave me a plate of food, which I eagerly gobbled down. Slowly, day by day, I began to trust them. My brave heart led me closer and closer -- until one chilly evening, I stepped into the warmth of the emergency feral-cat house they’d set up for me. Ah —this was my very first taste of what it means to have a home. It wasn’t long before they trapped, neutered, and released me. They had hoped that my testosterone levels would diminish and that my adventurous spirit might settle down, but, much to their dismay, I vanished for several days. Being the brave and loyal Ramblin’ Man that I am, I couldn’t resist defending my turf. So when I returned, they noticed a small, deep bite wound behind my ear. They rushed me to the vet, where I amazed everyone with my charm. While most cats would hide or squirm, I soaked up every moment of attention as I purred happily through exams and vaccinations. It was there we all learned that I’m  FIV+, but you’d never guess it from my confidence nonchalance. With cold weather setting in, they realized that I deserved so much more than a life of braving the elements. Since bringing me inside, I’ve become Foster Meowmy’s constant companion in the guest room. While I’m cautious of new things, like big, soft, warm blankets, I’m completely unfazed by loud noises like vacuum cleaners. Since I've endured the chaos of lawnmowers, passing cars, and street life, a little hum doesn’t ruffle my fur! Whereas I hissed the first time Foster Meowmy picked me up, it wasn’t long before I let her bathe me, clean my ears, and dry me off without so much as a fuss. My trust in her, although earned slowly, is unshakable. She recently whispered in my ear that she’d adopt me if she didn’t already have two cats with health issues and one cat who feels like he needs to protect his territory. I must admit that I want more in life than being confined to the guest room. I’m ready for a home where I’m someone’s "beginning and end." I dream of a family where every cuddle, purr, and curious head tilt is met with undivided love and attention. While initially I may be a little cautious of big changes, with patience and kindness, I promise to reward you with unending devotion and affection. You might even find me pressing my head against your chest, purring like a small, contented engine—just as I did with the vet If you’re searching for a companion to fill your home with warmth, gratitude, and endless love, I’m waiting to meet you. Sometimes the most extraordinary souls are wrapped in soft, silver-gray fur and come with a heart full of hope. Arrange to meet me today! By the way,  I probably contracted FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) from the deep bite wound from another cat. (Unlike Feline Leukemia, FIV is NOT passed on "casually" by sharing food bowls and litter boxes with other household cats.) Being FIV positive means that I should live an average life span as long as my dental health is routinely monitored and prompt attention is given to any urinary-tract or upper-respiratory infections. MEOW SOUNDS LIKE BALLOON RUNNING OUT OF AIR  DOB 11/1/18 Hey there, everyone! I’m Liam, a very friendly, ultra-easygoing Chartreux/ British Shorthair mix fella who loves to spend time with my hoomans – either sleeping snuggled next to them or relaxing with them as we binge on Netflix and Animal Planet. I love to be petted, especially when my hoomans scratch my ears, chin, and cheeks. I’m so laid-back that I’ve had to learn to get out of people’s path as they walk by. Who knows what my DNA ancestry would reveal, but I have the gold eyes shared by both the Chartreux and BSH. However I have the more tapered muzzle of the Chartreux, compared to the BSH’s abbreviated one. In fact, because my round head tapers at the bottom, it looks like I’m always smiling! Foster Meowmy says that my meow sounds like a balloon running out of air, and the Chartreux's surprisingly tiny voice is well recognized. My plush fur is medium-short and slightly wooly in texture. It is oh-so-soft and lush to the touch. Although at first glance I appear to be solid gray, I have pale shadows of tabby-stripes that show through in my coat. Foster Meowmy is the neighborhood “cat lady,” and she finds all the strays if they don’t find her doorstep first. When she found me, I had a rather nasty wound where I’d been bitten above my eye. Thank heavens she decided to bring me inside and take me to the vet for medications so that my wound would heal properly. While I was there, she made sure that I was fixed to stop my lothario wanderings as an intact male. It wasn't until she brought me home for recovery from my surgery that she realized that I was probably someone’s very loving but abandoned pet whom they’d never bothered to neuter. I’m very demure and polite, so I get along with all the resident cats. When the curmudgeons get grumpy, I just steer clear of them because I avoid conflict. I’m even learning to play interactively with Foster Meowmy as well as to entertain myself with the tower of balls and catnip mice, which are luxuries that I never had the opportunity to enjoy while I was living the hardscrabble life of a street stray. Now I’m ready to find my forever home. Could that be with you? If you’re looking for a handsome, debonair gent who’s well past kitten mayhem and who won’t cause chaos in your home or break any of your treasured heirlooms, I’m the man for you! Arrange to meet me today so you can enjoy running your fingers through my plush coat. Let’s truly be fur-ever friends! CUDDLING'S IN HIS GENES  DOB 6/1/24 Hey there, everyone! I’m Koko, a sweet, friendly, affectionate, and playful medium/short-haired "bicolor" fella, which means that I’m mostly white with black on my head, back, and tail. I love for Foster Meowmy to hold me in her arms, and I snuggle with her in bed. Cuddling is just in my genes. I also adore interactive play with Foster Meowmy when she bounces the laser light all around the room. I love to be her little helper when she makes her bed and puts her groceries away. Also, I’m her green-thumb gardener – or at least I wish I were one of the flowers. When I was about 7 weeks old, a nice couple rescued me when a dog was chasing me in their neighbor’s yard. From the first time that they picked me up, I was the perfect cuddly boy who wasn’t scared of them one bit. My rescuers couldn’t keep me, but fortunately Foster Meowmy stepped up to the plate and agreed to foster me until I could be adopted. Since I was scooped up as an orphan with no siblings or momma in sight, the resident cats in my foster home have been my surrogate parents and taught me all the manners that my momma would’ve taught me if she’d been around. Now that I’m adjusted to my foster home, I “pay it forward” and become the surrogate big brother for the new orphaned kittens who arrive. Foster Meowmy says that I’m an excellent baby-kitten-sitter, although I don’t think I charge her enough for my services.   Now I’m ready for my forever home! If you’re looking for a laser enthusiast with a penchant for cuddling, I’m the boy for you! Arrange to meet me today! My heart has so much love to give – all I need is YOU!  HOPE ID 24-0727-C095 If you are interested in Koko and would like to fill out an online Cat Adoption Application, please go to  http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-forms/cat-adoption.php  .
