Please contact Diane Pedulla (dianep@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.small sweetie seeking fresh start and love! FOXY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Foxy        Best Guess for Breed:   Sheltie and terrier mix  Best Guess for Age:  1 year as of February 2025     Gender:   Female Approximate Weight:    17 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with kids or cats but she can be tested if you have them. Currently Living At: Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to come up here after completing heartworm treatment.  Special Adoption Considerations: Foxy is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.  We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left! Foxy is Looking For: Her forever home! This adorable little pup landed in the shelter through no fault of her own and she's eager to start her new chapter with her new humans! Long sniffy walks, romps in the park, world exploration - yes, please! And cuddles and snuggles when chilling after a fun day together. Most of all, though, she wants to be safe and loved and under her own roof.  In exchange, she promises adoring gazes and tail wags and loyal companionship for all her days. What do you say? Can you see her trotting on her little legs way down there by your side? What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once she has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with her foster.  Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Story
Meet Sir Edward! He is (approximately) 6 years old and a 20-25 pounds full grown. Edward is from our most recent hoarding case and dogs DNA tested from the household were a smorgasbord of breeds (Coonhound, Sheltie, Lhasa Apso, Russell mix, etc, etc). Sir Edward is full of life and full of himself! He enjoys the company of other animals and LOVES to play. He has been exposed to kittens, puppies, and dogs of many ages and sizes, but not all love his playful excitement. He is still learning the ways of the world in regards to kennel, potty, routine, and just being a dog. He will need an adopter with patience and the resources to teach him these things. Sir Edward has some herding tendencies, so no young children please. A fenced in yard is preferred - he doesn’t know how to walk on a leash yet! Adoption application can be found on our website!

Story
Hello this is Doodle a lovable and friendly sheltiedoodle we have loved since a puppy. Born September 15, 2022. We instantly knew he was perfect for our family upon meeting him. We surprised our children with the new addition to our family in Christmas of 2022. Sadly my deteriorating health has left my family and I unable to care for him as we have. He needs love and someone able to give him the attention he deserves. He was up to date on his shots but again due to my health has left me unable to get his most recent ones.

These pups are in Vienna, Virginia too!

Story
Meet Kansas, a beautiful Rough Collie in search of her true forever home. Originally purchased from a breeder, Kansas was rehomed when her first family's older dog struggled to accept her as a puppy. She then found a loving home, but unfortunately, her family is moving and unable to take her along. Wanting the best for Kansas, they reached out to our rescue for help. Now in foster care, Kansas is living with her two foster parents and their two dogs, with regular visits from the grandkids. She’s proven to be incredibly friendly, does well meeting new people and dogs, and was just cat-tested—showing no interest even when the cat hissed and arched its back. We believe she could co-exist with a cat and would thrive with a young, playful dog companion. Kansas is an active, intelligent pup who needs an equally active family. She is not a city or condo dog—she will do best in a home with space to run and play. She would do best in a home with a yard and a playmate to match her energy.  We checked in with her foster mom, Cindy, for a 3-week update: "Kansas has settled in so nicely. It took her about two or three weeks to truly feel at home. The first few days, she paced around the house, unsure of her new surroundings. She was friendly but not fully engaged. Now, she follows me around, loves to lay by my feet, and enjoys belly rubs and ear scratches. She’s also discovered the joy of playing with her toys! Her new family just needs to be patient and give her time to build trust—once she does, she’s an amazing companion. She needs an active family—someone who will take her walking or hiking daily. She’s fantastic in the car, loves outdoor adventures, and could easily walk for miles. She meets new people and dogs beautifully and wants to play with everyone she meets. I think having another young, playful dog in the home would be ideal for her. I’ve been setting up playdates with our neighbor’s young dog at least once, sometimes twice a day, and Kansas lights up with joy every time. During the day, she’s energetic, but she does wind down at night. She’s fully housetrained, has no destructive tendencies, and sleeps freely with the other dogs. Kansas is truly a wonderful dog who just needs the right home to thrive!" ******* If you’re looking for an adventurous, loving companion, Kansas could be the perfect match! Apply today!   BREED ESTIMATE: Rough Collie GENDER: Female APPROXIMATE WEIGHT:  48 lbs  APPROXIMATE AGE: ~ 1.5 years old COAT TYPE: Long coat requires regular grooming ADOPTION FEE: $425 OTHER INFO: utd on shots/spayed/microchipped LOCATION: Fort Mill, SC   FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application. You can also help save dogs like this one by becoming a foster, providing a rescue dog with a temporary home and giving them the love and care they need until they are permanently adopted. Every person who fosters is directly responsible for saving the life of a dog, because we can only save as many dogs as we have foster families available to welcome them into their homes. If you think you might be interested in becoming a foster and want to learn more, please go to https://foster.worthydog.org and fill out an application.
