Story
*currently fostered in Houston Texas, available for out of state adoptions via rescue transportation. Video meet and greet available prior to commitment* This dog is a collaborative effort betweent Moka's Mission and Houston Chow Chow Connection. Mocha is a fluffy mixed pup just eager to find her new lease in life. She was rescued from a kill shelter in Texas just moments before being euthanized. She is believed to be around 4 years old, and based on behaviors definitely has GSD, Chow Chow, and even possibly husky mixed in her as well. Current weight around 65, 70 lbs. Upon arrival to the group, she was very reserved, uninterested in people and was more likely to growl or snap in your direction with things she was uncomfortable with. After spending time with behaviorists it was determined that she was most likely an outside dog that did not get proper attention or exercise. She also was abused in some manner as things such as brooms, vacuums, and raising sticks/newspapers resulted in fearful behaviors. Its no wonder she was in a state of survival and distrust with humans. Thankfully after spending time getting consistent exercise, positive reinforcement discipline and affection, she has blossomed into a smiling, eager to please, extremely intelligent pup who clearly has been desperate for reaching a potential that was never offered to her prior. She loves to play with toys now,( was unfamiliar with on arrival) and can be quirky, and vocal during her playful bouts. A game of tug which result in some head pats is her favorite. She also is very smart, and when given attention and motivation is quick to learn. She already knows several basic commands including sit, shake, kennel, wait, settle, and leave it. She is extremely versatile and once she trusts you, will give you her best. If you want to go hiking or exercise, she is all about it. If you want a pup to relax in the home and enjoy a movie day, she is ready! Her previous owners clearly left her unsocialized and to her own devices. This has resulted in high energy when around other dogs and an inability to socialize currently. So we do think she'd be best as an only pup. Proper continued socialization training would be required in order for us to feel confident about her being in a home with other dogs. She clearly has a desire to want to know other dogs, but hasn't had enough time and proper playmates to engage in socialization at present. We also believe she is much more focused without competition. This also applies to cats as she does has some prey drive, as is not unexpected in such breeds. Mocha is fully vetted meaning she is up to date on vaccinations, spayed, microchipped and on monthly prevention for flea, tick, and heartworm. Her adoption fee and transport is dependant on services used. Story
Xena is a 14 months old sweet and velcro girl who was an unwanted gift as a puppy for her previous owner. As a result, Xena spent a considerable time of her life alone, outside, without any love or affection. However, as soon as she came to foster home, Xena became attached to her foster parents. She loves giving kisses and is extremely affectionate and big time cuddler. She is also a lapdog. Xena loves to play fetch and is a total water dog. She loves living in the water, and loves swimming. Xena is only about 45 lbs. She will be a medium sized pup. She has one blue and one brown eye and very soft fur. She is fully vetted, current on vaccination, and is spayed and microchipped. She is also heartworm negative and kept on preventatives. Xena is currently being fostered in Houston, but can travel to any state, even Canada to the right home. She can go to a home with other dogs, or be an only child. To meet this sweet pup via facetime or whatsapp or in person, please send an application available at www.savesomesouls.com
