Story
Hi there! I’m Pepper, a 6-year-old Shih Tzu/Havanese blend girl, weighing in at a petite 12 lbs. I’m a total couch potato and would love nothing more than to spend my days hanging out with you.
General Behavior: Pepper’s foster family describes her as affectionate and expressive—She has strong opinions and will let you know them! While she experiences some anxiety, she will adapt quickly to new environments with a bit of patience and love.
Likes & Dislikes: Pepper adores snuggling, giving kisses, and being the center of attention! She is food-motivated, though can also be a bit of a picky eater. Toys? Not her thing. She would rather focus on being with her humans.
Training: Pepper is house trained in her foster home and will need to continue to be let out on a regular and consistent schedule. She walks beautifully on a leash, has good basic manners, and even tolerates car rides like a champ.
Medical: Pepper is a healthy gal but does require prescription food for her urinary health. Other than that, she just needs her heartworm and flea/tick preventative, like any other dog.
Other Animals: Pepper gets along with other small laid-back dogs but she is afraid of large dogs, so small dogs only for this little girl. In fact, her preference is to be the only dog in the home – she doesn’t want to share the spotlight. She has not been around cats, but her foster feels she would be ok with them.
Children: Because of her small size and anxiety, Pepper would need to be in a home with children/teens 13 and older.
Home: Pepper would thrive in a home where her human is home a lot, or where she can tag along on adventures. She has been left alone for several hours in her foster home without any issues and has free rein of the house. At night, she is happy to curl up in the “people bed” or a bed of her own. She would be comfortable in a single-family home, apartment, or condo.
Grooming: Pretty Pepper will need regular professional grooming to her looking her best, so her adopter should consider this ongoing cost.
Overall: If you are searching for a loving companion who will cherish you endlessly, Pepper could just be the perfect match! With love, patience, and a lifetime commitment, you could be the perfect pair - like Salt & Pepper.
