Hi there, I’m Chewy, a lovable, fluffy Shih Tzu with a heart as big as my adorable eyes (which, by the way, just need a little extra TLC—some over-the-counter eye drops twice a day, but I’m a champ about it!). I may not have much history before coming to this shelter, but one thing is very clear—I am incredibly sweet, gentle, and full of love. I get along with everyone, and I have a special soft spot for my best friend, Ebby, a beautiful Border Collie mix I’ve taken under my wing during our stay at H.A.L.O. We’re quite the adorable pair, always cuddling and keeping each other company. While we don’t have to be adopted together, we sure wouldn’t mind!If you’re looking for a loving, gentle companion (or even a perfect duo with Ebby!), I’d love to meet you! We currently in a foster home. If you are interested in adopting, please speak with the front staff about the next steps! Requirements: Martingale Collar; Eye lubricant dailyAll of our dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, up to date with age appropriate vaccinations, heart worm or feleuk/FIV tested, fecal tested, rabies and tag, and microchipped before being placed in your home. Our adoption fee helps cover this cost.

Chewy is 9 years old and still very playful and lovable. He loves going on walks and getting new toys. He does have behavioral issues that we can no longer manage. He also has separation anxiety so ideally his new owner would possibly work from home or maybe is retired. He wants to be in same room with you at all times. He loves other dogs, and he's good with children, but in moderation. He gets overwhelmed with them after awhile. My hope is his new owner will have the time and patience to manage his behavioral and anxiety issues better than we can.

Story
I have a elderly friend that is going to live with her children, due to health issues. She has two very sweet dogs. One is a chichuahua about 10 years old the other is a Shih Tzu about 10 years old, They are both very sweet female dogs that have been spade. The owner saved them from a pet shelter several years ago. It would be great if someone could take both dogs considering they have been together for the last 8 years. But they would also be fine alone.
