Hello, my name is Ember, and I'm a special Shih Tzu with a heart as big as my long, snuggly body. At 5 years old and 17 pounds. My previous owners couldn't care for me, and I was in quite a state. I had to be shaved, and was battling a skin infection, yeast infection, and ear infection. To top it all off, I've had untreated dry eye syndrome for years, which has left my eyes hard and painful. I'm scheduled for surgery on August 16 to remove my eyes, and though it's a sad thing to go through, I know it will bring me much-needed relief. Even though I can't see much right now anyway, I navigate my world with a wagging tail and a lot of spirit. I'm a cheerful soul who loves to rearrange my dog bed just right and play with my toys. I get along great with dogs, cats, and kids, and I'm always friendly and eager to share my love. I might need a little time to get used to my new home, but once I learn the layout, I'll get around just fine. Despite the challenges I've faced, I've never lost my love for life. I'm looking for a warm, caring home where I can feel comfort and joy, and where my new family will cherish me for the sweet and resilient pup that I am.
