Newton is looking for a family that has had dog experience. If you do not have dogs now or have not owned a dog in the last five years, and or if you have children, Newton may not be the right dog for your family. Newton would like to have a home with a yard where he can spend some time running around. He is an amazingly affectionate dog. Newton is a mixed breed we presume to be Shih-Tzu / Poodle mix. He is around 23 pounds neutered and up to date with all vaccinations. Newton ended up in a local shelter completely matted and in pain. He was shaved down, neutered and had imbecile hernia repair. He was too stressed out in the shelter so they reached out for a rescue group to help him. We got there as soon as we can. Newton is an active, happy, playful dog that gets along well with his new foster brothers. He seems to be energetic and active and a bit mouthy so he would not do well with young children. Look back here for more information as we get to know him better. Newton is a very affectionate companion. He seems to want to and will climb into your lap to be close to you. He like to be in touch with his people either on the lap, next to and touching on the couch, and very close in bed at night with his warm body. WHEN AN APPLICATION TO ADOPT IS APPROVED WE BRING NEWTON TO THE HOME VISIT AND MEET AND GREET, AND IF ANOTHER ANIMAL A SNIFF TEST. WE DO NOT PLACE DOGS ON THIS VISIT. Charlie is an affectionate Shih Tzu mix who loves toys almost as much as he loves his people. He can entertain himself for quite a while, burying his toys under blankets and pillows, walking around with a toy in his mouth, or lying on his back holding a toy with his paws. He also loves cuddle, lap, and play time with his people and will gaze adoringly into their eyes. He enjoys meeting new people (especially if a treat is involved!), but he will stay at a respectful distance and approach them on his own time. Charlie is a sturdy boy who weighs around 16 pounds. He enjoys being the center of his guardian's world, so we are asking that he go to a home without to many dogs because we want him to be spoiled! Charlie does great with no accidents if he is let outside in the backyard every few hours like most dogs. He will go on indoor pee pads if necessary. Where to begin? I'll tell you about this dog named Bandit. He's around 3 years old. A Shih tzu mix, he wears a long, soft coat of black and tan, and weighs only 16 pounds. It's because of his small size that any children in your home should be at least10 years old. Small children don't always realize their own strength and might unintentionally hurt such a small dog. But there are many ways to hurt another, aren't there? Bandit is a wonderful dog who gets along with other dogs, kids and his foster's cat. Still, his previous owner took him to the vet to be euthanized because she &#194&#147no longer wanted him.&#194&#148 It hurts to even think about that, doesn't it? We're doing all we can in rescue to make him forget that, and we know you will, too. (TN, posted 12/11/24) **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. ** Adoption fee: $395 covers quarantine, shots, worming, medical records, spaying/neutering, microchip, and an Alabama State Health Certificate. Transport, if needed, is $160. We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip. We make every effort to arrive with healthy and minimally stressed dogs. Tuddles is a loving 7.5-year-old Bichon Frise/Shih Tzu mix (Teddy Bear breed), weighing 19 lbs. My daughter & I have cared for him since he was 8 weeks. He’s a well-behaved companion who adores people & thrives on belly rubs. While he gets along with most dogs, he may pull on the leash when larger dogs are nearby. A firm 'leave it' and a tightened leash help manage this behavior, which likely stems from an incident with a German Shepherd when he was 3. He loves running off-leash in grassy areas & playing indoor fetch with his plush toys, returning them on command. He’d do well in a home with or without other pets, whether it’s another small dog or even a cat. Raised on a farm, he’s not crate-trained but enjoys sleeping on a plush blanket or dog bed. Some quirks to keep in mind: Tuddles isn’t fond of rain and may need some encouragement to go outside during wet weather. He barks to alert when someone is at the door. He is a playful & loyal companion who would bring joy to a loving home.

For he's a jolly good fellow and we're thrilled he's ready now to find his forever home! Jolly is a jolly 12 pound, 4'ish year old Shih Tzu mix. He is in a foster home and has done well with both Percy the cat and two other OBG Alums in the home. Jolly loves to play with toys and will retrieve them back to you. Found as a stray, we don't have any background on Jolly, we do know that he loves to be in your lap and hanging out with is people. He rode quietly in the car and walks nicely on the leash with plenty of pep in his step. When left alone, he will "talk" so we don't think condo living is ideal for Jolly.
