Hello,My name is Artemis same as the Greek goddess of the hunt and animals.  Wow!  Cool...I just got here from the Bastrop shelter with my sister Addison, and we were scared out of our wits.  We are getting a little more comfortable BUT my sister is doing better than I am.Foster mom will be keeping us for a week or two more or until we are comfortable being handled and with people, but we will be looking for our special forever home the whole time!Let my foster mom know you might want me as your BFF and then come to meet me!!!UPDATE:Wow, time flies when you're having fun.  Foster Mom had to be away for 3 months, and we did not get much attention while she was gone, but now we're having special "lessons" in liking people and we're doing quite well.  I am STILL a big scaredy cat, but Foster Mom and Foster Sister are going to work really hard with me during Christmas vacation so we will be ready for our forever homes soon after.  We are both very healthy and beautiful and we are the age shown below here on this page.  We will make great BFF's, why not ask about us and take a chance - you won't be sorry!UPDATE Jan 16:  We are still VERY skittery and Mom is going to order some Jackson Galaxy flower remedies and we will be moved into large cages so Mom and Sis can work directly with each one of us.  Here's hoping - -I changed status to sponsorship so people would not be upset that these two are "not ready" for prime time.  IF you are truly interested and have experience with fearful kitties, please let me know.  Thanks! RaeUPDATE June 2020: Sometimes we take in kitties that have been psychologically so traumatized that they never accept humans and do not allow physical contact with them. Such is Artemis' story.  She came in with her sister Addison and both were terrified.  I will never know what was done to them but after five years she is still extremely shy.  Now during Covid-19 we are spending additional time at home and Artemis is living in the main house where she can get used to the rhythms of a household AND hopefully will come around. Lovey is true to her name! All she wants is love and is most happy when being held (she insists on it). She loves to carry a conversation with you in her little chirpy voice. She is petite and has the most unusual coloring. Lovey has been the the best little thing! Never complains and is always so grateful for everything she gets.  This sweet girl was found abandoned by a lady in Houston who said all she wanted was love and a little food. She did notice that one of her eyes had had an infection at some point and was now non-functional. Our rescue was reached out to for help and they immediately jumped into action to bring her here and get her the help she needed. I think Lovey would do well with other non-agressive cats and maybe cat friendly dogs (with proper introductions). Older kids that are cat savvy as well. Lovey had her spay and surgery to remove the bad eye and she is now healing and putting all her energy into finding her forever family to love her as she deserves to be loved. She will be ready mid-January. One-eyed kitties get along just fine and they can still do all the things that cats do.  ##2260618##
