Story
I am unfortunately having to re-home our dear boy. I recently have been pretty sick and just can't keep up with him at this time and dont have anyone to help and I want better for him. Beau is a very sweet loving 2 year old st benard mix. He loves to cuddle, loves belly rubs, toys and love to run and play. He is house trained, is kennel trained, and knows basic commands like lay down, sit, jump. He would do best in a home as the only dog, older children and a big yard or fenced yard with room to roam and someone who can definitely work with him as hes still fairly young and still likes to yank on a leash when walked. He would come with food, crate, leash, microchip info, and paperwork. I just want to make sure he goes to a loving forever home thats safe and plenty of room to roam.

Story
We are about as adorable as it gets. We are a mix of St. Bernard/Aussie and Coonhound. We will be big, loveable family members. Won't you take one of us home with you? Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2196500##

Story
Babs is an absolute sweetheart at 18 months young. She came in after her owner decided her energy no longer matched his own. She is a pretty active girl that needs someone to continue to work on training with her. Her current foster mama says she is very sweet little tornado 🌪 💜. She weighs in around 110 lbs and still needs to be spayed and have her gastropexy before she is ready to be adopted out. However, she is available to meet. She does have some resource guarding we are working through when it comes to food, and she is still learning how to be polite on a leash.

Story
Meet Chevy! Chevy was picked up as a stray in southern Colorado, and after his stray hold was up the shelter contacted us to help. Chevy came in pretty beat up – he had several fly strikes on his muzzle and ears when he was found and was also very underweight. Upon arriving at the shelter, he vomited up several plastic bags, a clear sign he had been surviving on garbage for quite some time. Chevy was adopted and became Asher, unfortunately his adopters had some health issues that meant they could no longer take care of him so he came back to us! His favorite game is race car laps in a yard, so his next home will require a fenced yard. He attaches quickly to his people and wants to protect them, so a family who can help him learn that he doesn’t need to is a must. He also adores cats, so a home with a dog friendly kitty would be an added bonus! He is a champion snuggler who is perfectly happy to hang out with you (on or off the couch) while you binge the latest show. He will help you keep your counters clean of all things edible and check the trash for any wrappers that might have a tidbit on them, so a its important to be mindful of these things. he hasn’t lived with kids but has gotten along with kids that he met out and about.

Story
Dixie and Latigo come to us after their human dad passed and Dixie started escaping the yard on a regular basis. Their human mom recognized that she could not keep them safe and asked us to help. We of course said YES! Things they will need in their new home – a yard with a 6 foot fence. Normally we don’t require fences, but for these two a 6 foot fence is an absolute MUST. They will still try to get over it, but won’t be able to. They are still learning the finer points of being inside dogs, but are doing really well so far! Dixie is definitely the leader with these two – she’s first to try new things and Latigo will follow her. They are also learning about leash manners – and so far are doing really well!
