Story
Oh Tomm, flopsy, mopsy, Tomm. This handsome, shy, sweet boy is around 5 months old and is some sort of shaggy doodle bug. Tomm has a very soft coat with minimal shedding, however, since we do not know his exact mix, we cannot speak to how well those with allergies will respond to his dander. He’s a sensitive boy and is bravest when people are sitting down and looking for a snuggle. He’s playful, loves to roll in the grass, and is excellent at entertaining himself with a selection of dog toys. Tomm is crate trained and even learned the doggie door in a matter of days of arrival. We suspect this is Tomm’s first time in a home and he’s catching on beautifully. Tomm will need to be in a multi-dog home to help him continue to build confidence and trust. He’s not yet leash trained, so a home with a yard is needed, too. He’s presently 38 lbs and we suspect he will be 70-ish lbs when fully grown. Tomm is being fostered in Mead, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs.* You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/tomm/. Story
This lovely lady is Autumn. Autumn is a 1 year old, female Poodle mix (likely Bernese/Poodle). She came to MHCR as a transfer from a local CO shelter where she was very shut down and fearful. Autumn was surrendered by her owners and had never had much socialization or been afforded indoor living. What a beautiful new world she’s seen since being in foster care! Autumn got all cleaned up and had a much needed spa day. Beneath her dreadlocks a gorgeous merle and tri-colored coat appeared. She’s a very skinny girl, at around 30 lbs. She will likely be a healthy 40-45 once she’s filled in. Autumn is looking for a patient home with other confident dog friends and a yard. She draws so much playful confidence from other dogs and she isn’t accustomed to leash walks. She’s not much of a barker, loves the water, and thinks dirt baths are the best thing ever. She has a very sweet, playful energy but is very much still an inexperienced puppy. Autumn is kennel trained, perfecting her house training, and will need some additional work with counter surfing. Autumn is being fostered in Longmont, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs.* You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/autumn/. Story
Meet Sprocket, a 4-year-old Poodle mix with a big personality and a heart full of potential. Sprocket has had a rough start and comes with a history of reactivity and biting. He’s a scared dog who needs a firm, experienced owner to help him feel secure and establish boundaries. Sprocket has had training sessions and responds well to clear, consistent leadership. Once he knows you’re in charge, he’s much more relaxed and doesn’t push back. However, he does react to new people and should wear a muzzle during initial introductions for safety. Despite his challenges, Sprocket has no health issues and thrives on affection from his trusted person. He enjoys being cuddled and will show his sweet side once he’s built trust. If you’re an experienced dog owner ready to provide a structured, loving environment, Sprocket could be a rewarding companion. He’s looking for someone who can help him overcome his fears and show him the love and stability he deserves.

Story
Luna is a sweet 9 lb cuddle dog. She would love to sleep on your bed. She’s very quiet around the house and house trained unless you don’t get her outside early enough in the morning. She loves to chase balls. She can do tricks. I inherited her from my mother, but I don’t feel I have enough time to give her the attention she deserves. And I’m not really a dog person. She was rehomed to my mom when she was four years old. She’s 12 now and in great health except she has a thyroid condition that is treated with twice daily inexpensive thyroid medication. It’s working very well. I think she’s a little bit deaf, but otherwise she’s a fabulous dog.

Story
Betty is a 6lb, 11+ year old SUPER SWEET Poodle.  Too often seniors are dumped at overcrowded shelters for many different reasons.  It could be because their owner has passed or they are unable to care them anymore, or often they have become "useless" or "too expensive" for their humans and are thrown away like yesterdays trash, easily replaced with a new, young puppy.  Dogs give their whole lives to their humans and their loyalty is unmatched, they deserve the same from us.  We try very hard to rescue as many senior dogs as possible, and find them a human that cherishes them for who they are and the love they have to give - even in their senior years.  Dogs often deserve so much more than humans give them, and we work tirelessly to make sure they get what they truly deserve.   Betty was surrendered by her loving humans family when she was unable to take care of her anymore, and her humans family could not be bothered to take care of Betty.  Betty was terrified and confused, trembling in a terrifying shelter without her Momma fir the first time ever.  The shelter reached out to us to get her out as quickly as possible because they knew she wasn't doing wel and may not make it out of there alive.  Once we sprang Betty from the shelter she immediately melted into her foster Momma's arms, as if she knew she was safe and going to be okay.  She made her way to CO on a rescue flight where she got to ride front seat in the pilots lap the whole time.  Betty has now been in CO a couple weeks and is ready to find her forever family.  She is a senior girl, and it looks like she may have some cloudiness in one eye - which comes with the territory of being older for dogs.  She seems like she is in great health and has a long life ahead of her.  She is the sweetest, most amazing little dog and her foster Momma has nothing but good things to say about her.   Her is what she has to say about her: "Betty couldn't be any more perfect.  She seems to be potty trained and she's super friendly.  She loves having an open crate to go hang out in but would much prefer to be on a humans lap 24-7.  A quiet household would be ideal for her to relax and snuggle all day long.  She gets along just fine with other dogs, but would prefer to chill and receive belly rubs and love all day long.  She would be perfect for someone who is looking for a low-key best friend to spend their days with.   If you are interested in adding Betty to your family, please fill out our adoption application at Brighterdaysdogrescue.com ##2299915##

Story
Julius is a sweet, spunky 2 year old poodle (maybe mix?).  He was found as a stray in a field in Kansas.  The area he was found in is a common dumping area for unwanted dogs, so we weren't surprised when nobody came for him at the shelter.  Here is what his foster has to say about him:  "Julius is a little shy at first, but warms up fairly quickly. He loves everyone but is particularly fond of men. He would be a great addition to and active home. He loves to be outside and would make a great hiking or walking buddy. He gets along great with dogs of all sizes and has not show much interest in our cat. He currently sleeps in a crate covered with a blanket and has done really well and sleeps through the night, but he is also a huge love bug and would probably love to snuggle with his human if thats an option.  He even goes into the open crate during the day and takes naps, it’s his safe space and he does love it.  He is a great little dog!"
