Story
“HARLOW” is a creamy white parti, easy going, AKC Standard Poodle who just turned 7 years old on April 29. She weighs a healthy 55 pounds and measures 22 inches from the floor to her withers. This pretty girl came to us from a Minnesota breeder who is retiring. Special thank you to this breeder as she wanted the best homes for her Poodles as they enter their “retirement” years. When Harlow first arrived, she was NOT at all worried, stressed or anxious about anything. She looked at us and you could see the joy in her eyes and on her face. This sweet and gentle girl absolutely loves to be with people. During a recent visit at our veterinarian’s office, Harlow would walk up to other people who were sitting and place her muzzle onto their laps. Then she would give them the look of “I Love You”. If you’re standing, she will place her muzzle under your hand, so that you will pet her as she just loves attention. Harlow is a perfect girl in our home (housetrained) and has never had any accidents. She follows us around our home while being a part of our family. She is also allowed to run freely in our home while we are there. When anyone comes to our home, she loves their attention and enjoys their hugs. She also greatly enjoys going for walks, meeting people while watching for those crazy squirrels! Yes, Harlow is a quiet, soft, gentle, “cream puff” Poodle girl who just loves being with people. In fact, she was the breeder’s BEST friend and had a difficult time letting go of her beloved Poodle. But she knew that Harlow needed a home of her own where she would be deeply loved and well cared for. Harlow has been around other dogs all her life and is best with other easy-going large or small dogs. We’ve also noticed how the other Poodles like to just hang around with her or follow her wherever she goes. Like all dogs, Harlow really likes to chew. But with her, precautions will need to be taken. We have found various special toys and heavy-duty chewing items (which are included with her adoption) that she greatly enjoys, which keeps everyone happy. NOTE: She is not a counter surfer. *A SECURLY FENCED YARD WILL BE REQUIRED as she has been a kennel dog and not trained to relieve herself on a leash. *You must be physically able to handle a large Standard Poodle. *Preference will be given to a quiet family with past Standard Poodle experience. *Large, easy going, gentle dogs (large or small) are fine. BUT PLEASE: *NO puppies or cats. *NO aggressive or assertive dogs (they scare him and me). *NO young children. *Like most all rescue groups, we do NOT adopt our Poodles to homes more than 1 day’s drive (round trip) from our location here in central Minnesota. Yes. This is a very rare opportunity for the right family as we all know that a good Standard Poodle is hard to find. With the introduction of Doodles, sadly the Standard Poodles are becoming harder to find. Why Doodle when you can Poodle? She has been spayed and her dental work is done which included the removal of various teeth. She is just fine and can eat a hard kibble so no canned or soft food is required. Harlow has been Vet checked healthy, is up to date on all her vaccinations, worming, heartworm / lymes / ehrlich / anaplas (4DX) tested negative, placed on a heartworm preventative, and Home Again microchipped. As with all the other Standard Poodles we have adopted, Harlow’s adoption fee is 1 million, trillion, zillion dollars. However, for the right family her adoption fee is $650.00 which includes $45.00 for our 7.375% Minnesota state sales tax. This fee helps to pay for just some of her extensive vet work. Also included is her leash, collar, a bag of quality dog food, a 10-gallon dog food container, treats, dog chew toys in a cute toy box, a new blanket, a dog bed along with lots of good information to help your Poodle adoption move forward on the right paw! For a $50.00 donation, her large wire crate will also be included. For more pictures, information and our required "Adoption Application", please visit our website: https://picketspoodles.com/
