Meet Bourbon! Breed: standard poodle. Age: 3 years. Weight: 40lbs, he needs to gain some weight, should be about 50lbs. Training: crate and leash trained, working on house training and he is doing well. He hasn't had much life experiences and will need continued training and guidance. Good with other dogs/cats? Yes to dogs, will need to cat test. Good with adults/kids? Yes, although older, understanding kids will be best. Personality: He is a little shy at first, but he warms up to be friendly, playful, and affectionate. He is quiet and laid back, but he has started coming out of his shell more. He will play with the other dogs. Bourbon will need a patient, understanding, experienced owner that has the ability to work on training. Shortly after he was rescued, he had to have surgery to remove a blockage. He has healed well! He isn't a big chewer, but he does like to eat random things. He will need closely monitored during training. Because of this, we recommend a home with older children. He is great with kids! But kids can leave out toys that could get Bourbon into some trouble. Bourbon has come SO FAR! His personality has truly began to blossom! Reason for rescue: breeder release, retiring. Meet Magnificent Maleena!  This super sweet and very active girl is learning all the good things that life has to offer.  She knew her life was turning around the moment she arrived at her foster home.  This poor little girl spent most of the months of her short life living in a crate in the garage with very little food, water, or attention.  She is small for a standard poodle but too big to be a miniature.  Her sad life caused her to weigh only 20 lbs when she was rescued.  You could count every rib and see most of her bones.  The vet says she should be about 40 lbs and is now well on her way to her ideal weight.  Maleena loves people.  As soon as she knows you are nice she is your buddy.  She is also great with other dogs and ok with cats.  Maleena's favorite thing to do is to RUN!!!  She absolutely loves the fenced in field at her foster home and the other dogs that run out there with her.  We think that she would also love structured exercies and that she would be a great companion for an active family who enjoy walking, hiking or running.  She would also do better in a home with older children or an all adult home. Bronson is a stunning young pup with a one-of-a-kind brindle coat—he must have gotten those gorgeous markings from his dad! His mom was a mix of Standard Poodle and Airedale, giving him a slightly rough coat, soulful eyes, and a sharp mind to match his good looks.  Born around 10/20/24,  this smart boy is already making great progress with crate and potty training, thanks to his foster mom’s dedication. He’s highly intelligent and eager to learn, especially when treats and toys are involved! Bronson has already mastered “sit” and is well on his way to being a well-mannered companion. Friendly and affectionate, Bronson gets along wonderfully with kids, cats, and other dogs. Brandon is a handsome 5 month old bundle of love with a stunning brindle coat that he must have inherited from his dad! His mom was a unique mix of half Standard Poodle and half Airedale, so Brandon is destined to grow into a big, lovable boy that could weigh 60 pounds. With his lovingly sweet personality, Brandon is the total puppy package! His foster mom has been working hard on his crate training and potty training, and he’s already mastered “sit.” He’s great with kids, cats, and other dogs, making him a perfect fit for just about any type of family.  Brandon would love an active family that could provide him a fenced yard where Brandon can safely play. He would also embrace having  another canine companion in the family or active children or family members that will take him for good walks, jogs and a life filled with fun adventures. Posh is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 02/09/22 Posh had entropion repair on his lower eyelid. He also had a dental polishing and a deep ear cleaning. Posh can be prone to ear infections. Keeping his ears clean is imperative.  Weight: 45 lbs Height: 24 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes What kind of home would be best for me? Posh is an active dog that has had a lot of change over the last 8 months. He needs stability and patience and continued socialization. Posh is an alpha male and needs an owner that will commit to positive reinforcement training and redirection of behaviors. Posh prefers women to men so an alpha female owner is his ideal home. Posh could live with other dogs (he always has) or be the only dog. Posh is not good with children and will not be placed in a home with children. He requires SLOW introductions to new people. What is my personality like? Posh and his brother Hans were the beloved companions of a single professional. Sadly, significant health challenges made caring for Posh impossible and he was surrendered to rescue to help him find the right forever home.  Posh's owner describes him as a a big, happy love bug - he thinks he is a toy poodle lap dog! He loves to give big hugs and kisses. Posh is not fond of the vet or of grooming but with lots of gentle persuasion it can be managed.  Here is what our caregivers say about this beautiful boy. Posh is a sweet boy that is looking for a mama. The reason I say “mama” is because posh takes direction from women very easily where as he is a little slower to warm up with men. He needs someone that can keep him in line. He is all boy! Posh does well with other dogs; he enjoys the company of dogs his size. Occasionally when he’s over stimulated you’ll have to correct him and let him know he’s being a little too much. Posh is not the best with strangers - you have to buy this boy's love with treats and patience. He does not appreciate being approached without permission and will let you now his displeasure. Posh slightly pulls on a leash and will need some leash training. He would excel at any type of positive reinforcement training as he is very intelligent. Posh loves belly rubs and does very good about keeping his crate clean. It is required posh have a crate in the home this will help his transition to a new environment as well as give him a place to retreat to when he’s feeling overwhelmed. How do I act when I first meet new people? A little timid, but incredibly treat motivated Other tips and tidbits: Posh is 3.5 years old. We celebrate his birthday as 2/1/2019. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
