Story
Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   not in VPDate into Rescue:  08/08/24 Reason for being in rescue: owner release/owner acquired from another party then realized when they got her home that she was more of a rehab project than they could do.   Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs?  Weight: 35 lb Height: 21 in est -she is a very petite little girl Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes, Shiloh Trixie is an escape artist.  I do not trust her with just leash walking.  She loves to romp with her friends and needs the security and safety of her own private dog park in her back yard. What kind of home would be best for me? Shiloh Trixie is a sweet, shy girl who is on a journey to becoming a loving and loyal companion. She was surrendered because her previous owner who, after just a short time in their home, realized they were unable to provide the time and attention she needed. Currently, Shiloh Trixie thrives in the company of other dogs and enjoys playing with energetic, playful canines. She learns a lot from her doggy friends and takes her cues from them. Shiloh Trixie will only be placed in a home with at least one, and even more is fine, standard poodles who will accept her into their world.  She will always need a friendly, confident dog friend who can serve as a positive role model. As for humans, Trixie is much more comfortable around women and she prefers you to be under 5'4" ( I know, you did not know dogs could measure right?).  She is hesitant around taller individuals. This behavior may be a remnant of her previous situation, and we are working with her to help her feel more secure around all people. This gentle girl needs an adopter who can offer patience, kindness, and consistency as she continues to develop her social skills. Shiloh Trixie walks well on a leash but will need to learn basic commands such as sit, stay, down, and come. She is highly treat-motivated, which will help her pick up these skills quickly. In her crate, Shiloh Trixie feels safe and secure; she has never had accidents in it. She enjoys playing with toys and sometimes "borrows" them from her doggy friends. Shiloh Trixie will thrive in a home where someone is around most of the day to provide the guidance and support she requires. She would do well with a single person, a couple, or a family with mature children aged 16 and older. With a loving and dedicated owner, Shiloh Trixie will grow into a wonderful companion. Watching her blossom into a confident, loving pet will be a truly rewarding experience. What is my personality like? Shiloh Trixie gets along well with other dogs and tends to mirror their behavior. If they are playful and happy, she will be too; if they are agitated, she might also become unsettled. A home with a well-adjusted large canine companion(s) would be ideal for her. How do I act when I first meet new people? Shiloh Trixie is initially shy and may take some time to warm up. She tends to do better with women and might be cautious around men or individuals more than six feet tall. With patience and gentle encouragement, she will continue to improve in her social interactions. Other tips and tidbits: We have no documents on Shiloh.  We were told she was about two (2), so we estimate her birthdate to be on or around 8/8/22.  Shiloh Trixie is the kind of dog for those of us who love this breed, hate what has happened to them during covid, and has the space and time to welcome a follower dog into their home.  She is going to be a great buddy to someone.   House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Dainty is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 3/5/25 Dainty had an umbilical hernia repaired. Weight: 29 lbs Height: 18 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed?  Yes, Dainty is a flight risk if spooked and will need a physical fence that is at least 4 feet tall. What kind of home would be best for me?  Meet Dainty, a beautiful girl who came to us as a breeder release. Like many dogs in similar situations, Dainty is still learning about the world and can be easily spooked. She’s unsure of many things and needs a patient adopter who can guide her through her journey of trust and security. Dainty is not comfortable around small dogs. She becomes anxious when small dogs are near her feet and may growl or snap. She does better with larger dogs, though sudden movements by them can startle her. No cats for this girl. Dainty enjoys the company of her small pack here and is beginning to understand that she is in a safe, loving space. Dainty has never lived without the companionship of other dogs and requires another large, confident dog in her forever home. Dainty will need an adopter who is patient, understanding, kind, and most importantly, loving. With the right guidance, she has the potential to become a wonderful and affectionate pet. She doesn't mind if her adopter is single, a couple, or a family, as long as she receives lots of love and care. If adopted by a family, we recommend a home with older children, as sudden movements and loud noises can frighten her. What is my personality like?  Dainty is a young (under 2-year-old) dog with no life experience. As a breeder release, she has never known what it means to be a companion or pet. What she lacks in experience she makes up for in heart. Every experience for this girl is new; you will teach her everything. It will be work. She will be worth it. Dainty can walk on a leash, but she is easily spooked by many things. At times, she may try to run away or dart between your legs. She doesn’t yet know basic commands, but with time and patience, she will learn. Teaching Dainty new commands and how to walk confidently on a leash will help strengthen your bond with her.   We’re seeing Dainty slowly blossom with each passing day. You can see in her eyes that she wants to trust people and share her love. This girl is waiting patiently for her special adopter who will give her the chance to thrive. If you have it in your heart to work with this girl as she develops into your loving and caring pet, come see Dainty today. It just may be love at first sight for both of you. How do I act when I first meet new people?  Dainty is initially wary of new people, but it’s clear that she wants to connect and be loved. If you take your time with her, she will gradually allow you to pet her and begin to trust you. Other tips and tidbits: Dainty's birthday is 07/09/2023. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. Carolina Poodle Rescue transferred her into rescue. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Paris is up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. We were told Paris is a standard poodle, but only a DNA test will confirm if she is mixed breed. Her coat is more similar to a doodle. Given this, we cannot guarantee that she is hypoallergenic. Weight: 25.4 lbs Height: 22 in Spayed/Neutered: No. Paris will be spayed on 3/28/25 and ready for a home on 4/4/25. We are accepting applications to adopt now. Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes. Paris is incredibly high energy and needs plenty of physically fenced space to run and play. The fencing must be 4 feet or taller. What kind of home would be best for me?  Meet Paris, a lively girl with seemingly endless energy! She’s on the lookout for a forever home that can keep up with her playful personality. Paris loves people but can be selective about her canine companions. Paris could thrive as an only dog, though she’s open to sharing her home with another dog. She’s particular about which dogs she bonds with; it will truly be up to her if she chooses a home with another canine companion. Paris doesn’t mind if her new family is a single person, a couple, or a family—she just wants a home that’s as active and loving as she is! Whether it’s hiking in the mountains, walking through the woods, or spending a day at the beach, Paris is ready to tag along. She’d even love to accompany you on errands—especially if they end with a pup cup! Due to her high energy, Paris isn’t recommended for families with young children, as she may unintentionally knock them over when she plays.  What is my personality like?  Paris is an energetic and playful girl with a bit of a discerning taste when it comes to her canine friends. She absolutely adores people and is always excited to meet someone new. Paris is still learning some basics. She doesn't yet know commands like come, sit, down, or stay, and she’ll need leash training as well. But with time, patience, and consistency, the bond you form with her through training will be priceless! If you are looking for a wonderful active girl who enjoy bringing a smile to people’s faces, Paris is the perfect girl for you!  How do I act when I first meet new people?  Paris is a social butterfly who loves everyone she meets. She’s yet to meet a stranger! Other tips and tidbits:  We don’t know Paris's exact birthday, but we estimate she’s around 2 years old, celebrating her birthday as February 6, 2023. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. Chase is a doodle (we don't know what breed mixture). Only a DNA test will confirm what he is. We cannot guarantee he is hypoallergenic or that he does not shed. Chase is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Weight: 31 lbs - Chase is underweight and needs to gain 10 lbs Height: 24 in Spayed/Neutered: unknown Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes, Chase requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller. What kind of home would be best for me? Chase loves being the center of attention and he thrives off of human cuddles and affection. When Chase is left alone, he misses his humans dearly and often cries for them to come back. He is far better in a crate than in a run or left free and a much quieter boy when alone in his crate. He would be best suited in a single family home versus a townhome or apartment due to his quirky, vocal nature. Chase needs someone who will consistently provide love and gentle care for him. Chase wants to be with you 24/7. He wants to go to the bathroom with you. To the post office with you. He is looking for someone that wants a velcro dog. Chase is the ideal dog for either a family or a couple and is sure to make the perfect, loyal companion. He bonds hard and fast to his people. The more he bonds to his humans, the less he wants to share. In rescue, he will guard his people from other dogs with the people he trusts the most. While Chase enjoys playing with other large dogs, he's best suited for a home where he is the only dog. What is my personality like? Meet Chase - a bundle of joy with a heart full of love! This sweet boy is always ready to brighten your day with a wagging tail and a big, happy smile. He is a true sweetheart and adores being pet and receiving affection. Chase is doing phenomenal at things like potty training and learning simple commands, but he still needs socialization and more positive learning experiences! He’s an easy-going boy who simply just wants your undivided attention. Whether it’s playtime, a cozy snuggle session, or simply following you around, Chase will be his happiest when he is by your side. Chase has been extremely sweet and friendly to his daily caregivers and we know he will be just the same with his new humans. Precious, sweet, full of life, and nonetheless! If you’re in search of the sweetest, most adorable boy, Chase is ready to steal your heart! How do I act when I first meet new people? Chase loves everyone and everything! Other tips and tidbits: Chase was estimated by 3 years old when surrendered to the NC shelter. We celebrate his birthday 1/27/23. House trained? Georgette is up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative.  Weight: 50 lbs (est) Height: 24 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? No, a fenced yard isn’t required for Georgette, but it’s definitely a great safety feature. Georgette isn't going in the yard if you aren't with her! What kind of home would be best for me? Georgette is not picky about her future family - whether you're single, a couple, or a family with kids, Georgette just wants someone who’ll be home with her most (if not all) of the day. She craves love and connection, and in return, she’ll give you unwavering affection and loyalty. Georgette would do well as an only dog, but she could also thrive in a home with another friendly dog to act as a playmate and mentor. This lovable girl would enjoy going on adventures with you - whether it's a walk around the neighborhood, a hike in the woods, or a day at the beach. If you’re going somewhere, Georgette would love to tag along. She’ll especially appreciate a stop at the coffee shop if there’s a pup cup involved! What is my personality like? Meet Georgette, a sweet, loving girl in search of her forever home after being rescued by Animal Control. Georgette came from a situation where she wasn’t receiving the care she deserved. Thankfully, she was surrendered to CPR, where she’s now thriving and receiving all the love and attention she’s been missing — everything, that is, except the one thing she truly longs for: a family of her own. Georgette is a pretty, affectionate girl who needs some socialization. She happily wags her tail at everyone she meets, but she’s still a little shy about approaching for affection. Georgette is starting to warm up to other dogs and is showing good signs of social progress. We haven’t had a chance to see her interact with cats, but based on her temperament, she seems like she could adjust well to a home with feline companions. With patience and time, she’ll open up — and when she does, get ready for all the love and kisses you can handle. She’s a big ol’ lovebug who will happily cover your face in kisses if you let her! Georgette walks on a leash but could use a refresher on leash manners. She doesn’t know any basic commands yet, so her adopter will need to teach her things like sit, stay, down, and come. The good news? Georgette is a smart girl who wants to please. With some treats, patience, and praise, she’ll be an eager and fast learner. Plus, training time is a great way to build confidence and strengthen your bond with her. Georgette needs plenty of physical and mental exercise on a daily basis. Like any young standard poodle, if she's bored she can get into mischief. Counter surfing and dumpster diving are two of her favorite past-times! Georgette is a joy to be around and will bring love, laughter, and cherished memories into your home. If you have room in your heart and home, she’s ready and waiting to become part of your family. How do I act when I first meet new people? Georgette loves people and all the love and attention she can get from them. Other tips and tidbits: Georgette was born on or around 4/11/2022. House trained? Weight: 46 lbs (est) Height: 24 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes, Tux requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller. What kind of home would be best for me? Tux would thrive in a household with a single person, a couple, or a family as long as they are home most of the day to keep him company. He’s a very active dog and can be a bit jumpy, so if there are children in the home, they should be older to avoid getting knocked over during his playful moments. Tux loves to jump up and give hugs to everyone and anyone. Tux would love to accompany you on all kinds of adventures—whether it’s a walk in the woods, a hike in the mountains, a trip to the beach, or even a simple run down the street to grab a pup cup. He’s a great walking companion and is eager to explore. Tux is a happy, energetic boy who enjoys life to the fullest. He gets along well with every dog he’s met here at the farm, and his playful energy will bring joy to any home. However, his enthusiasm might be too much for cats, so we recommend a home without them unless they’re very playful and can keep up with his energy. What is my personality like? Meet Tux, a big, playful boy who is looking for his forever home! Tux came to us as an owner surrender after being kept in a crate with another large dog, which led to constant fighting. Thankfully, a neighbor encouraged his owner to surrender him to us, and now Tux is ready to find a loving home where he can be the center of attention. Despite his challenging past, Tux has shown no aggression toward other dogs here at the farm. He absolutely loves people and is happiest when he’s around them. However, Tux can be quite vocal when left alone, especially if he’s separated from his people, so he may not be a good fit for apartment or townhome living. A home with a fenced-in yard where Tux can run and play safely would be ideal for him. While Tux walks well on a leash, he will need some basic training on commands like "come," "sit," "down," and "stay." The time you spend teaching him these commands will help build a strong bond with your new best friend. Please be aware that Tux loves to dig, so you’ll need to supervise him when he's outside to prevent him from creating any holes in the yard. Considering his past, Tux is doing wonderfully and is ready to make a great companion for the right family. If you have the time, space, and love to offer, Tux would be thrilled to meet you and join you in a wonderful life together! How do I act when I first meet new people? Tux loves attention and affection from people, but he’s especially excited when they engage with him in play. He’s always ready for some fun and will make you laugh with his antics. Other tips and tidbits: Tux was born on 8/31/2022. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. Thank you for considering CPR. April 8, 2025, 4:54 pm
