Story
Ryder may be shy at first, but when he gets to know you, he is so much fun! He loves to play with the laser and really tries hard to climb the walls while chasing it! He enjoys being petted and will sometimes climb in bed with you to snuggle. Ryder may require some patience while he adjusts new people and surroundings. He will talk to you in “chirps” and he likes to explore and investigate what you were doing by lying near you and watching closely while purring. Ryder has been neutered, vaccinated for FVRCP and rabies, flea and worm treated, and is negative for feline leukemia and FIV. If interested in adopting Ryder, please fill out an application at Castawaycats.com.

Story
.Ladybug aka Rosie came to our back porch pregnant, scared, and starving. She was desperately searching for any bit of food and came back every night to see if the other neighborhood cats left scraps on their plates. After a week of barely approaching us, Rosie was hungry enough to allow herself to be caught and brought inside again! We don’t know her full story but she was clearly someone’s abandoned pet because she is so incredibly sweet and loving. Rosie would be happy if every day she got to follow you around and get kisses any spare moment you had. She’s playful, curious, and earned the nickname “Nosey Rosie” because she just can’t stop seeing what you’re up to! She has learned to be brave and no longer hides when nervous. Now she prefers to sit right next to you, just in case you may need saving or a cuddle. She’ll be your absolute best friend if you adopt her! A friend with clear communication skills, by the way. Rosie is very clear that she loves face, shoulder, and head scratches (and kisses) but she is not a fan of butt pets. She’ll also chirp and roll around on the floor in the mornings to let you know she missed you while you were sleeping. Rosie is FIV positive, which is NOT a death sentence, the only way it could be spread and ONLY to cats is by deep bite wounds and she has proven that she can live peacefully in a house full of cats with no issues. She is being fostered in a home with four adult cats (3 girls & 1 boy) and she gets along with all of them, peacefully, with no incidents. She would do well in a house with other animals of any kind but might struggle in a house with young kids. She needs to live with someone who can understand her cues for no more pets and who will be ok with her always being right at your feet for attention. Is that your house? Are you looking for someone to cuddle up with you full of love and purring? If interested in Ladybug (Rosie) or any of our castaway cats please fill out an application at castawaycatsde.com

*The tortoiseshell (Reba) and brown tabby(Lainey) are still available* The tabico and buff male were adopted! These are the Rambleton Acres babies (3 girls-tortoiseshell-tabico and brownl tabby and one boy-buff tabby). They were born under someone's shed and they cared enough to call for help so they can be brought in safe and sound and properly taken care of. They are very sweet but still shy yet but with a little TLC will come out of their shells very soon. They have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated for FVRCP and rabies, flea and worm treated, micro-chipped and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV. We love to adopt them out in pairs if at all possible! If you are interested in these babies or any castaway cats of ours, please fill out our application at castawaycatsde.com

Story
Dottie was a great mother, raising two kittens on the street, and made a huge fuss when we were getting her in a carrier. She continued to complain all the way home, but once she and her kittens were made comfortable inside, it was clear the fuss was because she was just a scaredy-cat! She blossomed into a sweetheart overnight! Dottie is still quite shy but is becoming more trusting every day and learning to get enjoyment from being petted. Her gentle nature shines through in the soft trills she uses to communicate her curiosity and affection. Each day is bringing new moments of connection, and she is turning into a sweet and loving companion and recently began seeking out her foster for pets and attention! Dottie will need some time getting used to a new environment, but the bond with her will be worth it as she is gentle, loyal, and sweet. Dottie is spayed, microchipped, flea and worm treated, vaccinated for rabies and FVRCP, and negative for leukemia and FIV. She gets along well with other cats and doesn’t mind the foster’s dog. If interested in adopting, please fill out an application on Castawaycatsde.com.

Carla and her two kittens were surrendered when her owners were evicted. She is gentle and affectionate with a heart full of love. She is wonderful with kids and has not only nurtured two kittens of her own, but selflessly cared for others by grooming and nursing kittens who weren’t even hers. Carla has a calm and quiet nature and enjoys attention. Her warm personality and motherly instincts make her a truly special cat. Carla is spayed, microchipped, flea and worm treated, vaccinated against rabies and FVRCP, and negative for feline leukemia and FIV. She gets along with other cats and does not mind the foster’s dog. ABOUT ELMIRA Elmira will steal your heart away with one meow! She is a 7-year-old mature beauty with a kitten heart. Elmira came to HAP when she was found as a stray, but it was clear this girl had lived in a home and socialized with people. She absolutely adores being pet, usually following you around waiting to be loved. Elmira is also a chatty girl and enjoys talking with humans, she even has the sweetest meow! In addition to her loving personality, Elmira is quite the laid-back lady, often enjoying a nice afternoon nap or some snacks. Elmira is fairly tolerant of being handled, held, and snuggled. She will use her big girl voice paired with a love tap to let you know if you've crossed her boundaries too far, though this is rare. She has so much life left in her, begging to find her forever home. If you are interested in adopting this cat, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific cat but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! Story
ABOUT RUSTY This handsome man is a 4-year-old tuxedo. Rusty came to us from another shelter partner, when they no longer had space to keep him. He is very outgoing and quickly became a volunteer favorite! Every morning, he greets our staff with a big meow and adorable kitty eyes. Our cattery team thinks he knows how to make them feel guilty, with one sad look, they have no choice but to sit with him for some snuggles. This affectionate boy is sure to rub against your leg or curl up in your lap. Despite being a lover, Rusty has his limits and is sure to give you a light tap or nibble to let you know he's had enough. He loves to tell you how he's feeling and what he wants. Rusty enjoys spending his days soaking up some sun and leaning into you for head scratches! **This cat has tested positive for FIV, Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. Many cats with FIV can live a long and happy lifespan if kept indoors and given routine veterinary care. FIV is not contagious to people or animals other than cats. *To help Rusty find his forever home, a generous donor has sponsored his adoption fee! If you are interested in adopting this cat, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. Story
ABOUT RONITAS Meet our handsome black and white kitty, Ronitas! He came to HAP when he was found as a stray. We attempted to find his owners, but sadly no one came looking for him. Our vet estimates he is about 5 years old and has previously lived in a home, based on his demeanor. Ronitas has a tough exterior and may act like a big boy at times, but spend a few moments with him and he is a sweet man. Ronitas loves to play and chase after wand toys. He often behaves more like a dog than a cat, preferring to tackle and wrestle with any toy that crosses his path. Once he's released some playful energy, he shows off his affectionate side. He enjoys petting and neck scratches. While he can be picked up, he's not a fan of being carried around or held for long periods. Ronitas can be too rough for most other cats, so a home as your only kitty would be best! If you are interested in adopting this cat, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals.
