Story
Meet Teddy – The Tiny King of Selective Friendship! Teddy is a 4.5-year-old Chihuahua with big opinions, strong boundaries, and a heart of gold—once you earn it, of course. If you’re fluent in Chihuahua (or at least willing to learn), Teddy might just be your new tiny, devoted shadow. 🏡 Exclusive Membership Only: Teddy prefers a quiet, low-traffic household where he doesn’t have to worry about too many people invading his royal space. The fewer humans, the better—no kids, no chaos, no problem. 💖 Give Him a Minute (Or a Day): He may start off as a little socially awkward, but give him a couple of days, and he’ll be glued to your lap, swearing undying loyalty and demanding cuddles. 🚽 House Training Prodigy: This little guy is house-trained and also knows how to use pee pads like a gentleman. He’s been residing in the foster’s bathroom (his personal kingdom), and if there’s no pad, he’ll hold it. If there’s a pad, he graciously uses it—because manners matter. If you’re looking for a tiny, quirky, and devoted best friend who will worship you forever (after a short trial period, of course), Teddy is ready to grace your home with his presence! If you are interested in finding out more about Teddy, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Teddy is currently hanging out in Cambridge, MA. The adoption fee is $450. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

Story
Meet Cole! Cole is the sweetest little bean. He is around 2 years old, house trained, and loves his crate. He is a happy and easygoing little dude who is just as content snuggling on your lap on the couch as he is running and playing. He loves his two foster siblings (35 lbs and 55 lbs) but hasn't met many other dogs beyond that just yet. While he may be initially startled by a visitor, he does happily greet new people. He hangs out at work with his foster mom and has made fast friends with at least a dozen people. If you have a treat for him, he will instantly be your bestie. You may even get some kisses. :) He loves to run and jump. He looks like he is on springs when he gets excited! He gallops and bounds when he is happy. He likes rope toys but hasn't quite figured out Kongs or treat dispensing toys. He is interested in playing tug with his foster siblings even with their size difference! He travels easily in the car and has been easy to have at the office - he just curls up in his crate for a nap and is perfectly content, even when his people are in view. He also walks fine on a leash. He doesn't know any obedience cues yet, but he is food-motivated so he should be able to pick things up quickly. He was originally found as a stray in Texas and you can see some glimpses of what his life must have been like on the streets if you move suddenly towards him or wave your arms close to him, but he recovers from his nervousness very quickly. For this reason though, we would recommend him for a home without young children, as their unpredictability could be frightening for him. He came to us quite malnourished and underweight but is putting on some healthy pounds. He has some minor resource guarding tendencies with food, likely due to having to find and protect his food as a stray. As he is building trust with his foster family, this is improving. If you are interested in finding out more about Cole, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Cole is being fostered in Shirley MA. The adoption fee is $500. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Meet Toby – The Ultimate Snuggle Pro Making a Comeback! 🐶💖 At 4 years old and 22 pounds, Toby is a Chihuahua mix with a little extra "fluff" from living that indoor-only lifestyle. For nearly a year, he never left his elderly owner’s apartment—so now, he’s on a mission to rediscover the great outdoors (one cautious step at a time). 🐾 Dog-Friendly & Crate-Trained! He gets along well with other pups and doesn’t mind hanging out in his crate. 🚶‍♂️ New to This Whole "Exercise" Thing. After a year of living the VIP couch life, Toby is learning that walks are actually a thing—and he's up for the challenge (as long as there are snack breaks). 😬 A Little Anxious, Always Gentle. He’s still figuring out new situations, but even at the vet (with needles involved!), he kept his cool like a true gentleman. If you're looking for a loving, slightly squishy best friend who’s ready for a fresh start, Toby is your guy! Adopt him today and help him on his journey from couch potato to adventure buddy! 🎉🐕 If you are interested in finding out more about Toby, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Toby is being fostered in Groton, MA.
