Story
Meet Teddy – The Tiny King of Selective Friendship! Teddy is a 4.5-year-old Chihuahua with big opinions, strong boundaries, and a heart of gold—once you earn it, of course. If you’re fluent in Chihuahua (or at least willing to learn), Teddy might just be your new tiny, devoted shadow. 🏡 Exclusive Membership Only: Teddy prefers a quiet, low-traffic household where he doesn’t have to worry about too many people invading his royal space. The fewer humans, the better—no kids, no chaos, no problem. 💖 Give Him a Minute (Or a Day): He may start off as a little socially awkward, but give him a couple of days, and he’ll be glued to your lap, swearing undying loyalty and demanding cuddles. 🚽 House Training Prodigy: This little guy is house-trained and also knows how to use pee pads like a gentleman. He’s been residing in the foster’s bathroom (his personal kingdom), and if there’s no pad, he’ll hold it. If there’s a pad, he graciously uses it—because manners matter. If you’re looking for a tiny, quirky, and devoted best friend who will worship you forever (after a short trial period, of course), Teddy is ready to grace your home with his presence! If you are interested in finding out more about Teddy, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Teddy is currently hanging out in Boston, MA. The adoption fee is $450. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

Story
Meet Cole! Cole is the sweetest little bean. He is around 2 years old, house trained, and loves his crate. He is a happy and easygoing little dude who is just as content snuggling on your lap on the couch as he is running and playing. He loves his two foster siblings (35 lbs and 55 lbs) but hasn't met many other dogs beyond that just yet. While he may be initially startled by a visitor, he does happily greet new people. He hangs out at work with his foster mom and has made fast friends with at least a dozen people. If you have a treat for him, he will instantly be your bestie. You may even get some kisses. :) He loves to run and jump. He looks like he is on springs when he gets excited! He gallops and bounds when he is happy. He likes rope toys but hasn't quite figured out Kongs or treat dispensing toys. He is interested in playing tug with his foster siblings even with their size difference! He travels easily in the car and has been easy to have at the office - he just curls up in his crate for a nap and is perfectly content, even when his people are in view. He also walks fine on a leash. He doesn't know any obedience cues yet, but he is food-motivated so he should be able to pick things up quickly. He was originally found as a stray in Texas and you can see some glimpses of what his life must have been like on the streets if you move suddenly towards him or wave your arms close to him, but he recovers from his nervousness very quickly. For this reason though, we would recommend him for a home without young children, as their unpredictability could be frightening for him. He came to us quite malnourished and underweight but is putting on some healthy pounds. He has some minor resource guarding tendencies with food, likely due to having to find and protect his food as a stray. As he is building trust with his foster family, this is improving. If you are interested in finding out more about Cole, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Cole is being fostered in Shirley MA. The adoption fee is $500. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Story
Meet Toby – The Ultimate Snuggle Pro Making a Comeback! 🐶💖 At 4 years old and 22 pounds, Toby is a Chihuahua mix with a little extra "fluff" from living that indoor-only lifestyle. For nearly a year, he never left his elderly owner’s apartment—so now, he’s on a mission to rediscover the great outdoors (one cautious step at a time). 🐾 Dog-Friendly & Crate-Trained! He gets along well with other pups and doesn’t mind hanging out in his crate. 🚶‍♂️ New to This Whole "Exercise" Thing. After a year of living the VIP couch life, Toby is learning that walks are actually a thing—and he's up for the challenge (as long as there are snack breaks). 😬 A Little Anxious, Always Gentle. He’s still figuring out new situations, but even at the vet (with needles involved!), he kept his cool like a true gentleman. If you're looking for a loving, slightly squishy best friend who’s ready for a fresh start, Toby is your guy! Adopt him today and help him on his journey from couch potato to adventure buddy! 🎉🐕 If you are interested in finding out more about Toby, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Toby is being fostered in Groton, MA. Story
At 12 years young and 7 pounds, Ally may be tiny, but don’t let that fool you. She’s not afraid to tell the big, confident dogs to back off, but when it comes to little dogs, she couldn’t care less. She and her dad Hachi quietly follow each other around. 🌟 Bonded with dad Hachi! They’re quiet, gentle, and stick together like peanut butter and jelly. 🐾 Kid-Friendly (With Dog-Savvy Kids!) She’s small and delicate, so gentle hands are a must. 🚽 Housebreaking… A Work in Progress! She prefers doing her business outside but might leave you a little “surprise” overnight in her kennel. (Hey, nobody’s perfect!) 🌎 Explorer Extraordinaire! Loves to sniff around the yard like she’s solving a great mystery. Ally is looking for a loving home where she and Hachi can enjoy their golden years together. If you’re ready for double the love, double the cuteness, and a little bit of Chihuahua ‘tude, these two are your perfect match! 🐕💞 If you are interested in finding out more about Ally, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Ally is being fostered in Millville, MA. Story
At 15 years young and a whopping 5 pounds, Hachi is basically a tiny, pocket-sized grandpa who enjoys the simple things in life: napping, sniffing around outside, and being devoted to his favorite human. He just wants a cozy lap, a soft bed, and someone to remind him he’s the best boy. 🌟 Bonded with daughter Ally! They’re quiet, gentle, and stick together like peanut butter and jelly. 🍽️ Light Eater. Hachi isn’t all that into food—he eats to live, not the other way around. (Think more “tiny nibbler” than “bottomless pit.”) 🚽 Housebreaking… Eh, We’re Working on It! He does his best, but at his age, sometimes nature calls overnight. 🐾 Loyal & Loving. He’s already picked a favorite person in his foster home, so if you’re looking for a ride-or-die bestie, Hachi’s your guy! (Just be prepared for possible future jealous boyfriend behavior. 😆) Hachi is frail and has some kidney struggles, so he’s looking for a calm, loving home where he can live out his golden years in peace, snuggles, and all the soft blankets his little heart desires. Hachi has a condition where his male anatomy doesn’t fully retract. While surgery was considered, he wasn’t an ideal candidate, so occasional application of salve helps keep him comfortable. If you’re ready to spoil a tiny senior with endless love, Hachi and his bestie Ally would love to meet you! 💙🐕 If you are interested in finding out more about Hachi, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Hachi is being fostered in Millville, MA. Story
Introducing Sophia & Dorothy—two tiny Chihuahuas with big hearts and even bigger snuggle goals! 💕 These inseparable besties do everything together—eat together, sleep together, waddle outside together, and most importantly, steal your heart together. 💖 If one of them is in your lap, guess what? The other one WILL be too. They don’t believe in personal space—just personal snuggles. If your idea of a perfect evening involves a blanket, a couch, and two devoted cuddle bugs glued to your side, congratulations! You’ve found your soulmates. They are sweet, submissive, and the best listeners (seriously, they might be better behaved than your human friends). No barking, no attitude—just pure, unconditional love. 🥹 They’re great with other dogs, and while they haven’t been tested with cats, they’re so easygoing that they’d probably just politely ignore them. As for kids? They’re so gentle, they’d likely be tiny, tail-wagging shadows to any little humans around. They’ve both been using pee pads indoors when nature calls. If you’re looking for double the love, double the cuteness, and double the devotion, Sophia & Dorothy are ready to claim your lap—and your heart—forever. 🥰🐾 If you are interested in finding out more about Sophia, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Sophia is being fostered in Clinton, MA. Story
PLEASE NOTE: This dog is currently out of state but will be transported to Massachusetts shortly with no additional travel costs. Roughly 90% of our dogs are adopted prior to their transport up to MA and 10% are adopted locally.Meet Tina! Tina is approximately 4 years old, 11 lbs currently and she may have some Chihuahua in her mix! She was found as a stray. In her foster home, she is working hard on her house-training, crate training, and leash walking. She could go to a home with kids and possibly other dogs. She does sometimes resource guard so experience with resource guarding is preferred. She has not been exposed to cats. Her foster says, `There is nothing tiny about Tina but her size! She plays with my 4 big dogs and gets right in the middle of the group. She eats well. Loves to snuggle while watching tv and wants to sleep with you but under the covers. She has enough energy to play with other dogs and you but also loves to be a couch potato. If she has a treat, she lets the other dogs know it is her private property. It’s actually kind of funny because she weighs around 10 pounds while the other dogs weigh from 40 to 60 pounds. Tina will stay in a crate when needed but has been left to roam the house with no problems. Tiny has been gentle with my 85 year old mom and has not tried to get under her feet. I hate to see Tina leave, actually. She would be a great addition to any family.`She is available for adoption in N Dartmouth on April 11th. Please fill out an application on our website at https://www.browndogcoalition.com/adoptable as a first step.-Dogs may not be given as gifts or surprises.-Please thoughtfully discuss with your entire household the physical, safety, financial and emotional responsibilities of a dog BEFORE applying to adopt.- More information about our adoption process, application and adoption fees can be found at browndogcoalition.com
