Story
Meet Teddy – The Tiny King of Selective Friendship! Teddy is a 4.5-year-old Chihuahua with big opinions, strong boundaries, and a heart of gold—once you earn it, of course. If you’re fluent in Chihuahua (or at least willing to learn), Teddy might just be your new tiny, devoted shadow. 🏡 Exclusive Membership Only: Teddy prefers a quiet, low-traffic household where he doesn’t have to worry about too many people invading his royal space. The fewer humans, the better—no kids, no chaos, no problem. 💖 Give Him a Minute (Or a Day): He may start off as a little socially awkward, but give him a couple of days, and he’ll be glued to your lap, swearing undying loyalty and demanding cuddles. 🚽 House Training Prodigy: This little guy is house-trained and also knows how to use pee pads like a gentleman. He’s been residing in the foster’s bathroom (his personal kingdom), and if there’s no pad, he’ll hold it. If there’s a pad, he graciously uses it—because manners matter. If you’re looking for a tiny, quirky, and devoted best friend who will worship you forever (after a short trial period, of course), Teddy is ready to grace your home with his presence! If you are interested in finding out more about Teddy, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Teddy is currently hanging out in Cambridge, MA. The adoption fee is $400. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

Story
Molly is a 10-year-old, cream-colored, long-haired Chihuahua with a heart full of love and a lifetime of cuddles to give! She’s gentle, calm, and gets along beautifully with all dogs—the perfect little companion. She recently had a dental and is now rocking a minimal-tooth lifestyle, but don’t worry—she’s still all about enjoying her favorite soft treats and cozy snuggles. Although Molly's typical speed is low and slow, she will rev her engines for treats, to chase bunnies and she’ll greet you jumping on her two hind legs when you come home! She loves going on walks and is great at going potty too. Molly is very quiet, and may occasionally alert you about visitors. She’s incredibly low maintenance and just wants to sunbathe and enjoy life! If you’re looking for a sweet, easygoing pup to be your best friend, Molly is ready to melt your heart! 💕 If you are interested in finding out more about Molly, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Molly is currently located in Arlington, MA. Story
Meet Cole! Cole is the sweetest little bean. He is around 2 years old, house trained, and loves his crate. He is a happy and easygoing little dude who is just as content snuggling on your lap on the couch as he is running and playing. He loves his two foster siblings (35 lbs and 55 lbs) but hasn't met many other dogs beyond that just yet. While he may be initially startled by a visitor, he does happily greet new people. He hangs out at work with his foster mom and has made fast friends with at least a dozen people. If you have a treat for him, he will instantly be your bestie. You may even get some kisses. :) He loves to run and jump. He looks like he is on springs when he gets excited! He gallops and bounds when he is happy. He likes rope toys but hasn't quite figured out Kongs or treat dispensing toys. He is interested in playing tug with his foster siblings even with their size difference! He travels easily in the car and has been easy to have at the office - he just curls up in his crate for a nap and is perfectly content, even when his people are in view. He also walks fine on a leash. He doesn't know any obedience cues yet, but he is food-motivated so he should be able to pick things up quickly. He was originally found as a stray in Texas and you can see some glimpses of what his life must have been like on the streets if you move suddenly towards him or wave your arms close to him, but he recovers from his nervousness very quickly. For this reason though, we would recommend him for a home without young children, as their unpredictability could be frightening for him. He came to us quite malnourished and underweight but is putting on some healthy pounds. He has some minor resource guarding tendencies with food, likely due to having to find and protect his food as a stray. As he is building trust with his foster family, this is improving. If you are interested in finding out more about Cole, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Cole is being fostered in Shirley MA. Story
Meet Toby – The Ultimate Snuggle Pro Making a Comeback! 🐶💖 At 4 years old and 22 pounds, Toby is a Chihuahua mix with a little extra "fluff" from living that indoor-only lifestyle. For nearly a year, he never left his elderly owner’s apartment—so now, he’s on a mission to rediscover the great outdoors (one cautious step at a time). 🐾 Dog-Friendly & Crate-Trained! He gets along well with other pups and doesn’t mind hanging out in his crate. 🚶‍♂️ New to This Whole "Exercise" Thing. After a year of living the VIP couch life, Toby is learning that walks are actually a thing—and he's up for the challenge (as long as there are snack breaks). 😬 A Little Anxious, Always Gentle. He’s still figuring out new situations, but even at the vet (with needles involved!), he kept his cool like a true gentleman. If you're looking for a loving, slightly squishy best friend who’s ready for a fresh start, Toby is your guy! Adopt him today and help him on his journey from couch potato to adventure buddy! 🎉🐕 If you are interested in finding out more about Toby, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Toby is being fostered in Groton, MA. Story
Julie’s Journey to a Loving Home When Julie arrived at the rescue, her world had just been turned upside down. Recently surrendered by her owner, this sweet soul was not only adjusting to a new environment but also recovering from major surgery to remove mammary tumors and repair a hernia. Understandably, Julie was timid and anxious at first. New places and unfamiliar faces made her nervous, but with gentle care and patience, her true personality began to shine through. Once she felt safe, Julie revealed her affectionate nature, becoming a true cuddle bug who loved nothing more than snuggling up next to her foster family. Because of her recent surgery, Julie wasn’t very active, but she still enjoyed her daily walks, taking in the sights and smells of the world around her. She was fully housetrained but had experienced a few accidents during her recovery – a minor setback that her foster family understood and supported her through. Julie’s heart is as big as her love for companionship. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs and adores children, making her a perfect fit for a loving family. However, due to some past trauma, she struggles with being confined to a crate or pen. She feels most comfortable simply lounging on the couch, happily watching the world go by. Despite all she’s been through, Julie’s resilience and loving spirit have shone through. She’s now ready to find her forever home – one that will offer her the patience, care, and affection she deserves. In return, she promises endless cuddles, gentle companionship, and a heart full of love. Are you ready to give this sweet girl the happy ending she’s been waiting for? If you are interested in finding out more about Julie, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Julie is being fostered in Boston, MA. Story
At 12 years young and 7 pounds, Ally may be tiny, but don’t let that fool you. She’s not afraid to tell the big, confident dogs to back off, but when it comes to little dogs, she couldn’t care less. She and her dad Hachi quietly follow each other around. 🌟 Bonded with dad Hachi! They’re quiet, gentle, and stick together like peanut butter and jelly. 🐾 Kid-Friendly (With Dog-Savvy Kids!) She’s small and delicate, so gentle hands are a must. 🚽 Housebreaking… A Work in Progress! She prefers doing her business outside but might leave you a little “surprise” overnight in her kennel. (Hey, nobody’s perfect!) 🌎 Explorer Extraordinaire! Loves to sniff around the yard like she’s solving a great mystery. Ally is looking for a loving home where she and Hachi can enjoy their golden years together. If you’re ready for double the love, double the cuteness, and a little bit of Chihuahua ‘tude, these two are your perfect match! 🐕💞 If you are interested in finding out more about Ally, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Ally is being fostered in Millville, MA.
