Story
Prince is a very sweet boy with some allergies. I've had him about 8 years but recently he's been struggling a bit more. I work out of the house and he's not house trained. He either has to wear a diaper or be crated during the day. This was ok when we had a dog walker but then he attempted to nip her and now they won't come back. He's nervous and sometimes grumpy, like a typical chihuahua. Someone with experience with that breed preferred. No kids please. He's perfect for someone patient, home most of the time, and willing to provide walkies and soft blankets for snuggles. I'm hoping for an "open adoption" where I can get pics and updates periodically. He does have some allergies and does best on a prescription diet and sometimes needs meds to keep him from itching himself to death.

**MEET ME AT OUR 1/11 ADOPTION EVENT IN DORCHESTER**Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VTGood with dogs: YesGood with cats: Yes, dog-savvy catsGood with kids: NoCrate trained: NoHouse trained: Yes (with pee pads)Sui is a very special little lady with an enormous heart and a wonderful personality!Sui thrives being around other pups (the more the merrier) and gains confidence with people through observing other dogs and their human interactions. She is looking for a loving, calm, and consistent home with a confident, nurturing doggie sibling who can help her feel safe and secure. When she is nervous, she takes comfort by snuggling up to other dogs in the home.It may take Sui some time to trust new people, especially men, but once she warms up, she is a sweet, spunky, lovable pup! She loves to stick with her pack and gets along well with other dogs of all sizes. For a small dog she easily keeps up with the bigger pups in her foster home. She is also comfortable around cats and has been smitten with a neighbor’s Maine Coon cat. She absolutely loves running with other dogs in a fenced-in area. For a little pup, she is incredibly fast!Sui has good leash manners when using a transitional lead. She enjoys walks around the neighborhood and in the woods, but the beach is her favorite place by far. She has even been known to frequent local breweries to listen to live music! She has started to approach people on her own to say hello as she gets more and more at ease with being in new situations. Sui knows she is pretty and loves to dress up in all her cute outfits, but she is a smart girl too and knows ‘sit’, ‘laydown’, and ‘dance’ for treats. She also has amazing recall and loves sprinting back to her humans when her name is called! She, like most dogs, loves her Lamb Chop toy and will carry it around the house. Sui is uncomfortable around kids, so an adult-only home would be best. Sui has separation anxiety, so she is looking for a home where her humans are around a lot or where there is another dog she can depend on. She is not crate trained, but she can be trusted home alone with another dog, especially if they are gated into a specific area.Sui is a flight risk, so caution will need to be used when walking outdoors or opening doors in the home. Sui is working on house training and does great if taken out on a regular schedule.More than anything in the world, Sui wants to be part of a loving pack that can help her build up her confidence and give her lots of snuggles. While this sweet girl may need a little extra TLC, she is absolutely worth it!Please Note: All dogs are posted until they are officially adopted. This dog may have other interested adopters in line. She is a shy gal but enjoys the company of her people and other pups when her personal space is respected. Tooty is looking for patient owners who can appreciate her introverted, sweet personality. She is fostered in a multi-dog home and has thrived with pups of similar energy. She has interacted well with other cats and would be fine with or without a feline sibling. While Tooty is building her confidence and slowly warming up to new humans, she would do best in a home with older, dog-savvy kids who will not suddenly pick her up or approach her too quickly. Her calm disposition would likely be fine with a cozy corner of his own on the couch or a comfy dog bed, she’s perfectly content to chill. She is working on her crate training and is mostly house trained. Tooty is slowly getting accustomed to her crate and is making progress. She would make a great work from home buddy. Tooty has had few accidents will continue to improve on a regular routine and schedule. She does well on the leash and loves her daily walks. Tooty is your classic chihuahua and has so much love to give- is she the one for you? Please Note: All dogs currently available for adoption are posted on our website. Story
MEET CHACHO!Meet Chacho, a charming chihuahua mix looking for a patient and understanding forever home. While he may come across as a bit intimidating at first, Chacho is a sweet and loveable companion once he feels comfortable and trusts you. He is a very energetic young boy who absolutely adores playtime! He’s looking for an adopter with experience working with fearful dogs. He has shown some separation anxiety and would like someone to be home at all times or to have a dog friend. Any dog friend would need to be able to deal with his sometimes overbearing personality. He would do best in a home without children or cats. If you`re an experienced dog owner ready to give him the time and space he needs, Chacho could be your new best friend! Because he is fearful of new people, Chacho will require multiple meets prior to being adopted.Chacho is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been spayed/neutered, microchipped and seen by our vet team. For more information on Chacho or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY. However, we will be unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements.
