Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Hi there! I'm Jockey, a sweet and small Mini Poodle weighing in at just 5 pounds. I'm 4 years old and ready to find my forever home. When I first arrived, I was pretty scared, but I've been working hard to overcome my fears and now my true personality is starting to shine through. At home, I'm becoming more comfortable every day. I used to hide when someone tried to pick me up, but now that I have gotten to know my foster mom, I lay down calmly  ready for some love. I enjoy spending time in the yard, especially when the neighbors walk by with their dogs. I love sniffing and checking out all the pups and people from the safety of my fence. I have a few adorable quirks that will make you smile. I do a little dance when it's mealtime, and if you're not paying attention to me during treat time, I'll pat your leg to make sure you see me. I'm quite the foodie and love treats and chew bones. Just a heads-up, I prefer to keep my chewies to myself! I'm still working on overcoming some fears, like loud noises, which can be a bit scary for me. But with patience and kindness, I'm getting better every day. I'm almost potty trained as long as I'm on a good schedule, and I'm also crate trained. I don't need a fenced yard because we're working on leash training, and I'm doing well with that in quieter areas. I will need more practice with leash training in my forever home. I can get a bit vocal when you leave the house, but that's just because I love being around my people. It would be best if I didn't have shared walls.  If you're looking for a fantastic companion who will dance into your heart, look no further! With a little patience and kindness, I'll be your loyal and loving friend. *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.    ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Hi, I'm Hester! I'm a 9-year-old toy poodle, and even though I'm a little girl at just 6 pounds, I've got a big heart full of love to share. I'm calm, sweet, and just a little cautious when meeting new people, but once I warm up, you'll see how loving I really am. I love going on long car rides and enjoy being held—especially when I have my foster mom’s lap all to myself! I might only want to be held for a short time, but that’s just because I like to mix up my cuddle time with a nice walk outside. Speaking of walks, they’re one of my favorite things to do! I’m practicing my leash walking a lot and doing great. I adore being outdoors. I’m still working on my potty training, but I’m getting better every day. I do really well on a schedule and will even go to the door to let you know when I need to go out. I’m also a champ in my kennel at night, but when my foster mom kennels me during the day I don't like that and I let her know I am not at all happy.   I do stop barking after a while but shared walls might not be a good idea because I can get pretty loud.   I get along well with other dogs, no matter their size, but I think I’d be happiest with a retired couple who’s home most of the time and loves taking walks as much as I do. I’m not too interested in toys right now, but I still have a playful spirit and a spring in my step that makes everyone smile. When I wake up in the morning, I’m full of joy, wagging my little tail like crazy because I’m just so happy to start the day. I’m not picky about food and always finish my meals with no fuss. If you’re looking for a special little girl who loves walks, cuddles, and has a big, happy heart, I’m the one for you! Let’s make some wonderful memories together. Story
Hi, I'm Shadow. My name fits me perfectly because I like to be near my people. I also like my toys, and I love to play.  I'm also an introvert so while I'm cute and playful in the house, I'm very nervous in the outside world. See, I was found as a stray on the streets of Minneapolis and being only 10 lbs, everything was a threat. I'm learning that's not the case, so please be patient with me. I am working on my confience but I'm not ready to be a super social pup who goes places like dog parks, pubs or busy places. I'd much rather hang out at home and do short excursions to places that will help me gain confidence. I've been making friends with other small dogs and I do have fun with them! A home with a companion who is brave would help me be more confident, too! I wouldn't mind being a solo pup either - I sure do love getting all the attention! If you have room in your heart and patience to help me learn, I'd love to meet you. I'm worth all the effort.  Love, Shadow ##2017792##

These pups are in St Louis Park, Minnesota too!

Story
Lady has been our family dog for eight years. We adopted her at age two from an elderly couple that did not fully socialize her. As a result she is anxious and afraid of strangers. She barks at everyone that comes to the door. If a stranger walks in unexpectedly, she will bite them. She is house trained by day, but pees on a special rug at night. Bichons are notoriously difficult to train if you get them as an adult. She has been a loving, devoted family dog. Lady needs an experienced adopter that knows and understands dog behaviors. She is not always easy. Once she is your person, there is no more loving and devoted dog. We are focused on finding a good, loving home that will be as devoted to her as we have been.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hello, I’m Nina, a precious and sweet albeit very shy female Chihuahua/Bichon Frise mix puppy. I'm a little cautious around people and don’t like loud noises or a lot of commotion, so I’m not sure if kids are a good fit for me! I admit that I follow my foster mom everywhere, not necessarily because I want her attention, but because I want to know what she’s up to. Unless, of course, she’s giving the other pups attention—then I must be part of the action! Hee hee! I love playing with toys and eating treats. I've even started taking treats from my foster mom’s hand. Yay for me! I’m still working on potty training and doing great if kept on a routine. I also don’t like the kennel or crate. In fact, I will holler a lot when I first go into the crate and randomly throughout the night, so just for the record, you have been warned! Hee hee! I will need a dog companion and a fenced yard in my new home so we can safely explore and play together. At home, I’m lovingly shy. I kiss my foster mom in the morning and get really excited when she asks, "Are you ready to eat?" I still have to be on two leashes when I go out in the yard, but I’m coming back into the house with less hesitation now. I love other dogs and do zoomies with them in the house. Chewing on bones, especially rubber ones, is one of my favorite pastimes. Plus, I'm a super smart girl who already knows what "sit," "stay," "down," "leave it," and "go potty" all mean. I even know how to "give a kiss"! I’m looking for a fur-ever home with someone who will love me unconditionally, never give up on me, and patiently allow me the time and space I need to become comfortable in my own way. I have a huge heart overflowing with love that I want to share. Please be my fur-ever family. I promise we will make amazing memories together! You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Keep checking back for upcoming events I will be attending!       DOB: 12/07/2022 Requires another dog in home: Yes, another well-balanced dog is required Okay with dogs of all sizes: Yes Okay with cats: Unknown Okay with children under 12 years old: No Weight: 10 pounds Food Fed: Solid Gold Requires a fenced yard:  Yes, required Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area. Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hi, my name is Corbin and I am a very shy and timid young guy that is ready to find my forever people with patience, toys and lots of love to help me be the best I can be! I’m very afraid of being touched by humans but I do love them.  Over the past few months, foster mom has been working with me on getting used to touch. She can now hold me and put me in her lap and I know I am safe.  I give her smiles and tail wags.  I’ve been brave enough to lick my foster mom’s hand but I’ll run away if you try to hold me or pick me up.  that whole picking me up thing makes me nervous and I panic, but I do enjoy gentle scratches.  With time, lots of patience and love, I’ll get there.  I’m getting a little better every day but when things are scary, they’re really scary! You have to understand that I likely have never been in a loving home so sounds like the TV, clanking dishes, the horrible vacuum and lots of commotion might make me a little worried. I have shown foster mom that I do have some puppy antics in me, hee hee! I like to play with soft toys, run around the yard and wrestle with the other dogs in my foster home. So, it’ll be important that I have a good doggy role model in my forever home to help me learn that touch isn’t scary and keep learning. A social, well-balanced and confident dog is required. This means that my buddy will need to show me humans are safe, how to get on a potty routine and teach me which toys are the best! My fur-brother and the other dogs in my foster home have been amazing teachers! I am still working on my dog skills like potty training. We go outside on a routine, but I will still need of practice in my forever home. Foster mom wants to let you know that I am smart – I already know what “go potty” means! We tried kennel training, and oh boy, I will tell you how much I don’t like it! Bark bark! Foster mom uses gates for the dogs when she isn’t home. I also bark at her when she comes home – maybe I’m telling you I’m glad you’re home, or maybe I’m filling you in on what happened when you were away!  Also, a fenced yard is required as I don’t have a leash or tie-out experience. This is very important for potty training too. My foster mom said I’m fun, adorable, learns quickly and likes to play with other dogs and that I play hard!  Oh and that I have a wonderful appetite! I will let you know with a bark bark that I am excited for dinner! I’m just an overall, very happy dog who loves the feel of the sun on my face when I’m sitting outside, other dogs and treats.  All I need now is a forever home with lots of patience, unconditional love and a family that will help me be the best I can be! Foster mom says that with time I will learn to trust – we are taking baby steps. Will you take those baby steps with me?
