You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.NOTE- HARRY IS LISTED AS A COURTESY TO ANOTHER RESCUE ORGANIZATION.  PLEASE SEE CONTACT INFO BELOW.ASK NOT WHAT THIS HOUND CAN DO FOR YOU,BUT WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR THIS HOUND.Harry Neil is a 10 year old walker hound who recently came to us when he no longer wanted to hunt. Having lived life on a chain, Harry Neil is now enjoying romping in a fenced yard, interacting with other dogs in his foster home and soaking up all the attention. Harry is kind and quiet and surpisingly petite! The mass on his face is a damaged salivary gland. Nothing can be done for it but it does not hurt or bother him. Henry is looking for a compassionate family who understands that he missed out on a lot of things while pursing a career in hunting. He will need extra support with house training and basic manners. Henry Neil deserves a comfy home with a wonderful family to enjoy the rest of his life! He'll pay you in kindness and gratitude.(We do not recommend hunting hounds for homes with cats.)A reduced adoption fee of $100 does apply for Harry Neil, our seniors, special medical and behavioral needs dogs and other 'slow to adopt' dogs!Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. Story
Loving, intelligent and confident! Just a few words to describe this incredible breed and our own Gunner! Gunner is back looking for his forever family who won’t give up on him. True to his breed Gunner is high energy and needs a family who can meet his needs. Please research the Treeing Walker Coonhound breed before applying, while they are an amazing breed and make a great family dog, they require daily exercise to meet their high energy nature. If you continue his training and maintain him right though you will have an amazing best friend! Read on to learn more about this handsome hunk. Gunner is a 10 month old Treeing Walker Coonhound mix (no papers). He is a very loyal guy and loves to play with people and dogs! Once his energy needs are met he loves a good snuggle on the couch with you. Daily walks/exercise are necessary with this boy. While we don’t require a yard, a fenced in area where he can run is helpful as well. Gunner does well with other dogs, and would love another playful pup to live with, but can live on his own as well. Cats are not recommended due to the prey drive of this breed. Gunner is great with kids, but children over 10 or children that are used to dogs are recommended at this time just because he is still a puppy working on his exuberance and may knock young kids down by accident. Gunner is house and crate trained. He is leash trained and good in the car. He has all of his basic commands like sit, come and stay. Continued training will be the key to success with this guy! Gunner is up to date on vaccines and preventatives, as well as neutered. If it sounds like Gunner is a good match for your lifestyle, apply today! Once approved you can meet this handsome, long eared man in East Berlin, PA. New Oxford PA 17350; LIC # 9736 We are PA Caring for K-9's, an all-breed dog rescue that is solely run by volunteers. Most of our dogs are rescued from high kill shelters in the South. If the dog is posted, they are still available! Once arriving, these dogs enter foster homes, as we do not have a shelter. We cannot adopt out dogs to a home with dogs that are not fixed or up to date on shots. If interested in adopting, please submit an application online at www.pack9rescue.org. Our adoption fee for altered dogs is $350 and goes directly to saving the lives of more dogs.  Our adoption fee for unaltered puppies will be $400 which includes a refundable $50 deposit upon receipt of spay/neuter certificate. Learn more about adopting from us or volunteering for us at www.pack9rescue.org or check us out on Facebook for more information and a complete list of dogs available for adoption. https://www.facebook.com/PaCaringForK9s/ See upcoming events below where PA Caring for K9’s will be with some of our adoptable dogs! Saturday, August 17, 2024 10am-1pm Ashcombe Farm and Greenhouse (906 W Grantham Rd, Mechanicsburg, PA) Please check our Facebook page closer to each event as we will update daily with dogs who will be attending. All are invited to meet our dogs, but only pre-approved adopters with all household humans and dogs present will be able to adopt at the event. Apply today at https://www.pack9rescue.org/applications/ to become pre-approved.   August 15, 2024, 7:34 pm

Story
Willow is a sweet 2 year old hound mix that is reported to be very chill and loves a good movie. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. Willow loves people, dogs, chew toys and looking out the window. She dislikes her crate, cats and being alone. When her foster Mom leaves, she just keeps her in one room instead of a crate and she is happy! Although she is learning to be confident, she still gets scared of things like thunder and other loud noises. Willow will need a dog sibling, and a fenced in yard. ADOPTION PROCESS 1. Review our adoption contract and application. 2. Call your vet and references to inform them that a rescue representative will be calling. 3. Story
Meet Betty: 4yr old, female, Coonhound mix, 44 pounds. If interested in adopting Betty, please complete our nonbinding application: click here to send a non-binding application  Hedgesville Hounds took in Betty in December 2023.  While clearly very shy, her evaluators perceived a dog who wanted to trust humans and had a sweetness about her that was very promising.  Since coming into care, Betty’s health has improved by leaps and bounds.  Weighing about 27 pounds when she came to us, she now weighs a long, lean, and leggy 44 pounds.  Her once dull and rough coat is softer and shines in the sunlight.  Betty came to Hedgesville Hounds burdened with heartworms.  She did very well during her heartworm treatment and after 3 months of treatment, is now clear of any heartworm disease. Betty is a sweet and gentle dog.  She is very good about handling and is excellent at toenail clipping and ear cleaning.  Because of the heartworm disease, Betty spent months on crate rest.  Since being released from her physical restrictions, Betty has enjoyed her freedom and progressed to daily runs around the yard with other dogs and by herself, leaping off the deck and rolling around in the grass, chasing robins on the ground and buzzards in the air, even adding silly leaps and twists just for the sheer fun of it.  Betty’s foster Mom thinks she is mixed with some kind of site hound, like Whippet or Greyhound.  Betty is streamlined in shape, has long and delicate legs, a sleek head, and doesn’t like to SIT.  Her favorite positions are standing and fully reclining.  Jumping up on items does not come naturally to her, hence her rare use of the couch and her current inability to jump into the back of the car.  She doesn’t mind being lifted into the car and climbs right into the car crate.  She is an excellent and quiet car passenger. Betty is potty trained, and she can be trusted loose in the house as long as she gets outside every 3-4 hours during the day.  She is fine all night long, even uncrated.  Betty is crate-trained as well. She may whine a bit at first, but then she settles down well. Betty’s leash walking skills have steadily improved while in foster care.  When out on walks, Betty still tends to pull on the leash.  Her foster mom has been using a Gentle Leader head halter, which works better for her than a no-pull harness. Betty will need continued positive training and practice to master this skillfully. It seems like Betty is going through a second puppyhood as she has been exploring her world by mouth.   Nothing has been damaged beyond repair, but her new family will want to keep items out of her reach and continue to teach her what is appropriate to chew on.  Betty occasionally chews her Nylabones or soft chew toys.  She also really enjoys her Collagen Retriever Rolls (rawhide replacements). Betty would likely be best suited for someone who is home all or most of the day. We do not have any knowledge of her experience with children, therefore we recommend a home with children over age 10. A securely fenced yard with a 4ft or higher fence is a necessity.  Betty gets along well with other dogs and also with cats.  Betty has come a long way since she joined Hedgesville Hounds.  She has proven that our initial assessment of her sweetness was spot on.  She probably won’t win any obedience titles; however, if you’re looking for a gentle dog to simply love you unconditionally, well, Betty has the rule book memorized! click here to send a non-binding application

She is very good with recall. May loves to play fetch and walks well on a leash. Since she loves to play fetch and run, a fenced yard would be nice for her. May is crate trained and good with house breaking. She has been dog selective so she may be best as an only dog. She he loves people so much and would be very happy if someone works from home or is retired.  I think she thinks she is a little person. If you would like a loyal companion and someone to love, May may be the girl for you. May is a girl on the smaller side of medium and filled with beagle genes.  She has many of the wonderful beagle traits which have made the breed so very popular for decades. You will enjoy taking her for walks and watching her play in your backyard, ears flapping in the breeze as she chases that stick. She is the type of dog who likes to please her people and she will try hard to do what you want her to because that is who she is. She has all her shots and is hoping someone will come for her so she can have her own family to love once again. She says to ask you to bring toys when you come to see her! NOTE: As May is a hound, we are hoping for a home with a physical fence so she and her inquisitive nose will be safe. Beagles LOVE to follow their noses.
