Story
**SENIOR**  Huck (aka Huckleberry Hound) is everything a hound should be.  Goofy, sniffy, sweet - he is always happy, and happy to share his day with you.  We think he is 8 years old but aren't sure because he does have a good amount of energy and LOVES going for walks.  He doesn't pull hard (unless a silly squirrel lets him get close) but finds great joy in being out in the woods sniffing all the great smells.  Don't you want a dose of joy in your day? Huck is currently kenneled and we'd love to find out how he does in a home (foster or adopt!).  We think that with a back yard or porch he would love relaxing and watching the world go by.  Huck would love a soft bed to sleep in and a person to give him treats.  He is very food motivated and that will help with his training. A good boy who loves to please, Huck will make a great companion for an individual or a family.   With a loving person who will give him walks, guidance, and affection, he will be a faithful companion and best friend. Huck loves belly rubs and ear scratches, he is a dog who wants to connect with people, and he will appreciate the comforts of a warm home and a soft touch. Will you be the person who gives that gift to this deserving guy!? PAW adopts in the DC, MD, northern VA, and southern PA area only. ##2338378##

Story
I’m a two-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound with a heart as big as a summer sky and a voice that carries through the holler. Now don’t get me wrong—I ain’t one to bark just to hear myself talk. I mostly keep my songs to myself... unless I find myself away from my people. Then I might let out a little “where y’all at?” just to make sure you’re comin’ back.I’m a good ol’ boy who’s got a bit of that lanky hound look right now—truth be told, I could stand to pack on a few pounds. A little extra kibble and some good home cookin’ oughta do the trick. I get along just fine with other pups and would love a playmate to tumble with. Got kids? As long as they’re okay with my hound dog serenades, I’ll fit right in.I may look like a lean, mean, trackin’ machine—but truth is, I’m just a big ol’ softie lookin’ for a porch to nap on, a belly to nuzzle up against, and a family to call my own.So if you’re lookin’ for a good-natured, country-lovin’, people-lovin’ hound dog with a song in his heart and room to grow, ol’ Possum Joe just might be your boy. If you are interested in meeting any of our animals, we encourage you to first visit our website and submit an adoption application: acskc.org/adoption/adoption-applicationOnce your adoption application has been approved, we will call you to set up an appointment to meet with the pet! Having lived life on a chain, Harry Neil is now enjoying romping in a fenced yard, interacting with other dogs in his foster home and soaking up all the attention. Harry is kind and quiet and surpisingly petite! The mass on his face is a damaged salivary gland. Nothing can be done for it but it does not hurt or bother him. Henry is looking for a compassionate family who understands that he missed out on a lot of things while pursing a career in hunting. He will need extra support with house training and basic manners. Henry Neil deserves a comfy home with a wonderful family to enjoy the rest of his life! He'll pay you in kindness and gratitude.(We do not recommend hunting hounds for homes with cats.)A reduced adoption fee of $100 does apply for Harry Neil, our seniors, special medical and behavioral needs dogs and other 'slow to adopt' dogs!Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. To learn more about Penny, please get in touch with dogs@lostdogrescue.org. Penny will be attending one of our adoption events coming up this weekend! To learn more about our upcoming events and to see which event she will be attending, please visit our event page at https://www.lostdogrescue.org/events/. (*Please note that the specific event pages are typically updated on Fridays with information on which dogs will be attending each event.*) You know the saying, "A penny for your thoughts"? Well, once you meet sweet Penny, she'll be the only thing on your mind! A recent mama, this lovely tricolor hound mix is 7 years young and has a calm and friendly demeanor. She's always ready to make new friends, whether human or canine. As for cats, we’re unsure if she sees them as friends or foes. Penny is the perfect balance of calm, cuddly, confidence, and independence. At seven years old, this sweet gal has experienced a lot, but she still enjoys roaming around outside and making new friends. Although she may be slow-going at times, Penny is still such a sweet pup. Penny loves to go on walks, and her leash manners are impeccable. She doesn’t seem to know any basic commands, but she’s a pro at “hounding,” taking her time to stop and sniff out every new scent she encounters—there’s always something exciting to discover in her eyes (and nose)! And, of course, like a true hound, she hasn’t met a treat she didn’t like. If you’re looking for an older laid-back gal with a calming presence who’ll be a loyal and loving companion, pretty Penny just might be the perfect match for you!

Story
Don’t let his serious little face fool you — Benjamin is a total softie wrapped in a squishy, tri-colored beagle/pug mix body. At 22 pounds, he’s just the right size for couch snuggles, lap warming, and sneaky treat mooching (he`s very talented at the last one). And those ears? Sometimes they stand up like he`s receiving secret satellite signals... from the land of snacks.Ben is about 5 years old and is currently perfecting his housebreaking game (progress, not perfection, people!), but he’s already mastered the art of crate chilling — goes in when told, no noise, no mess, just vibes. On a leash? Practically a gentleman. In the home? Pure joy. He knows “sit,” and is working on more commands because he’s clever and cute — a dangerous combo. He’s fantastic with kids, gently soaking up belly rubs and joining in backyard games like he’s been on the tag team for years. Other dogs? He may be a little socially awkward at first (relatable), but he warms up quickly and then it’s playtime central.Benjamin has one genetically small eye (awww!) that doesn’t bother him in the slightest — it just adds to his unique charm. Think of it as his signature look — part pirate, part heartthrob, all adorable. He’s a low-drama, high-love kind of guy who’d thrive in just about any home — whether it’s calm and quiet or full of chaos and cuddles. He lives for treats, soft beds, and the undivided love of his people. He’s not wild about car rides (yet), but hey, aren’t we all a little motion-sensitive sometimes?Ready to add a little Benjamin Button energy to your life — wise beyond his years, but with the heart of a puppy? He’s waiting to meet you! If you’d like to take this dog home, please fill out an adoption application at this link – https://animalalliesrescue.org/dog-application. The adoption fee is $300 and covers all expenses needed to prepare dogs like this one for their forever homes. By the time you meet them, they’ve already been spayed/neutered (if age-appropriate) and microchipped. They’ve been checked by a veterinarian and are up to date on necessary vaccinations, including Rabies and DHLPP. They have also been tested for heartworm and tick-borne diseases and have started heartworm and flea preventative medication. Some of our dogs have even undergone extensive medical care to ensure they’re ready for a happy, healthy life with you

CURLY Breed: beagle Age: 11 weeks Weight: 10 pounds Adoption Fee: $375 Vetting Status: neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccines, dewormed and maintained on heartworm preventatives ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ April showers bring... Three Stooges? Larry, Curly & Moe are a pint sized trio of beagle-tude, each ready to bring laughs as a solo act. The Stooges are 11 weeks old, crate trained, & working on their potty skills. They are super sweet, sassy, & smart. Larry is the brainy one. Curly the super social, kissy, big guy. Moe is the adorable, quiet wallflower... so somewhat the reverse of his more famous namesake. They will be ready for new homes in late April. We encourage you to submit an adoption application ASAP if interested, as we expect them to be adopted quickly!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CURLY is available for adoption through K-9 Rescue of the Eastern Shore. An adoption process is required to include filling out an online adoption application available at the following link -- https://www.k9rescuees.org/info/adoption Veterinary and personal reference checks, and a home visit/meet-n-greet are required PRIOR to being approved to adopt. The time frame for completing this process depends largely on how quickly references respond, your vet office is able to speak to us (some want written permission first), your landlord or HOA (if applicable) confirms their approval for a pet, & how your schedule aligns with that of our volunteer(s) for the Home Visit. ~~~~~~~~~~ PLEASE NOTE ~ All of our rescue members are volunteers with many obligations. While we may not be capable of immediate response, we will respond to all inquiries and application submissions as soon as possible. Thank you for thinking adoption!

Story
Buddy is a great companion dog. He loves playing with children and gets along with other animals. He is a great cuddler and has to sleep in bed with you. He loves being outside as much as possible. He is house trained and leash trained. He prefers to wonder and explore on his own, but is not a good listener off leash. He does great on the car and on long trips. Isn’t afraid of the vet or groomer, however he DOES NOT like to be picked up. He was originally found as a stray in Tennessee, and had a bullet lodged into his cheek bone, so he gets extra scared when there is a bang. Recently found out he is crate trained. We adopted him in 2022, at the age of 4.
