Story
Buddy was a stray rescued from the side of the road. When I found him he was skin and bones. In the short time we’ve had him, he has come out of his shell into the most playful, cuddly, and loving boy. Sadly, we can’t keep him. He does not get along with other dogs living in the same home and has some resource guarding. We also believe he was abused before we found him and reacts with aggression out of fear (arm raising, loud noise etc.) We are looking for an experienced, patient, and loving home him for buddy, someone who will put in the work to train him so he can live his best possible life. He is heart worm positive and is currently taking medication. He will need three shots for his heart worm and cannot be neutered until he is cleared. We will pay for all of this to ensure he gets what he needs. We are hoping there is someone out there who can provide a wonderful life for this sweet boy.

Story
AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!   Liberty is an absolutely stunning 2-3 year old Treeing Walker Coonhound who is a solid 60lbs. She is so sweet and loves to snuggle with her people and dog friends when it’s time to relax.  Like many hounds she is curious and likes to explore and police for small critters so a 6ft fence is a must along with a cat-free home.   Liberty loves everyone but her play style is better suited for older or sturdier kids. She can be protective of treasured toys (mostly bones or ones that squeak) and is best fed separately, but truly adores other dogs and seems to enjoy being a member of the pack. She might be best paired with a more tolerant canine companion, but does take cues very well when she’s playing too rough for their liking. Liberty would benefit from continued training to modify her protective behavior and work on basic commands.    Liberty loves walks and to explore new places and new smells.  She walks well on a leash but is still mastering a loose leash.  She is not a lover of the crate but will tolerate it for a few hours.  She sleeps on a dog bed in her foster’s  bedroom and does great there overnight.  This hound girl can get mischievous when bored and will look for things to steal so leaving her unattended and uncrated during the day would not be an option right now. Her forever family should have someone who works from home or is only gone a few hours a day so she can be the happiest and best girl.    This special lady deserves a home of her own after being stuck and overlooked in an overcrowded shelter for months.  She has the sweetest face and soulful eyes along with a charming and silly personality. You can’t help but fall in love with her. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143   If Liberty sounds like a great addition to your family, email us at almosthome4dogs@yahoo.com.   (Local adoptions preferred — Philadelphia and tri-state area [South Jersey and northern Delaware] only.) PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTACTING US! We are NOT a shelter: All of our dogs live in private homes with foster families. Story
Willa and Watson (siblings) came from the Brookhaven pound. We saw them on Face Book. The Brookhaven pound was going to put these puppies down because they were so shy. They couldn’t find a rescue group to take them. We decided to help them. They are super sweet, but they are very shy. Walter is not as shy as Willa. They feel very comfortable in their environment, but when taken to the vet, they do get nervous. They do respond to love, but they need somebody that will spend time with them. Because we are so overcrowded, they have never had an opportunity to live in the house. They were heavily bonded at the foster’s house, and they loved to play together. The foster did not spend any time with them, but the children played with them some in the fenced in area. They play well with other dogs, but they have never been around cats. Since they have been at Blue Ribbon Kennels, they have been in separate kennels for the past 13 months. They both need a special home with somebody that will spend a lot of time loving them, giving them a lot of attention and being patient with them. Please help Watson, and maybe even consider adopting both of them! Willa and Watson are in Mississippi. Rescue Rides is a very reliable pet transport and will transport Watson to his new home. This is included in the adoption fee.

Story
Meet Penny, a sweet and gentle senior Beagle with a heart full of love to give. Penny may be a little older, but she still has plenty of spirit and affection to share. Penny unfortunately does have an enlarged heart and a heart murmur, along with being in the early stages of kidney failure, for which she is on special food to manage her condition. Despite her medical challenges, Penny’s sweet nature shines through, and she is looking for a loving home where she can enjoy her golden years surrounded by comfort and care. Penny has lived with other dogs before and she’s a calm and friendly girl. Penny is currently in a foster home, where she’s doing well and continuing to enjoy life. If you’re interested in meeting this sweet senior girl, please email adoption@berksarl.org to schedule a time to meet her.
