Story
Hello, I`m Mojo! Looking for someone tall and handsome? Well, here I am! I am gangly, sweet, and so very affectionate. Want to know something crazy? I was passed around a lot before I came to the shelter. Home to home, but no one wanted to love me for always. The staff and volunteers don`t get it...I`m one of the best dogs they`ve ever had (or at least they tell me that every day). I love to go on walks and explore the world. I love other dogs and making friends. I am housebroken and smart (I like to learn new tricks). I am working on crate training so that I have my own little sanctuary in my next home. I cuddle for pets and bay into the sunshine when it warms my heart. I think some people miss what is right in front of them and take good hearts for granted. I know that the next family who meets me will protect me, love me, and stay with me always. Is it you? Come meet me today, you won`t be disappointed (I promise). If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home. While play groups do help us get to know the dog`s better, once they are adopted their new environments and new relationships will influence their behavior in ways we cannot predict. The Adoption Fee Includes:- initial canine distemper combination vaccination- first worming or stool check- rabies vaccination (for animals over 3 months of age)- 24 Petwatch microchipping- flea treatment/preventative- spaying or neutering-heartworm testingAdoption fee: $135.00Per state law, ALL ADOPTERS must purchase a non-refundable 2024 dog license at time of adoption for any canine three months and older. The cost of the license is $9.20. (Senior Citizen or Person with Disability-$7.20)Leash and collar included

Hi! My name is Maggie and I'm an 8.5 year old Treeing Walker Coonhound looking for a new home! I'm a sweet girl who would probably prefer to be the only dog in the home, as I'm dog selective. I am still willing to meet your dog to see if we are a good fit. I'm not terribly playful, so I would need a low key fur sibling. I am good with kids, too! Additionally, I would make a great companion dog to someone who is older. I still will need someone with the ability to take me for walks. Please put in an application if you'd like to meet me! I can't wait!  ##1983804##

Story
Hi everyone! My name is Trooper. If you're looking for a new BFF, I'm your guy! I'm a Treeing Walker Coonhound about 4 yrs old. I am neutered and up to date on my shots! I am super loving, sweet, dog-friendly, and just a really good boy! I walk well on a leash, know some commands & tricks, and have a lot of love to give! I was abandoned at some point, I can't remember it too well. I used to be a great hunting partner but then I was dumped and brought to a shelter. I don't understand why but my foster mom promises nothing but love & happy days for me from here in out-- and I think that sounds wonderful! KLN 16814 ##2086241##

Story
Hi! My name is Ariel and I’m looking for my forever family. I’m a 6 year old Treeing Walker Coonhound who was found on the streets of WV with a sharp object in my eye. No one came forth to claim me eventhough I was clearly an inside lady who is house trained, crate trained, and loves spending my day snoozing away on the sofa. Don’t let my one eye fool you - I can still sniff out anything that might by close by. I love my foster siblings and do well with other dogs but I like to say hello to cats with my teeth, so my foster mom said I can’t do that (best in a home without cats or really small, fluffy dogs that look like a cat).   ##2107941##

**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there! My name is Kona. I'm about 9 years old and I weigh about 65 lbs. I was found as a stray in the Salineville area and I was picked up by the pound. I am an extremely sweet girl with that typical hound dog happy-go-lucky attitude. I love people and I get along great with other dogs. I love going out in a play group with the other hounds here at the pound so we can romp and play together. When I first came in, my overall condition was poor. I was thin and had a mammary mass and a couple of other small masses. I am in much better health and have since had the masses removed. I will need a patient, hound-loving family familiar with hound antics. I was likely kept exclusively as an outdoor dog in my life before making my way into the pound, so I will need work on training and housebreaking. I do also appear to have been hunted. I enjoy treeing whatever there is to tree. The cats work just fine for me if no coons are to be found. If you're a hound lover looking for a new best friend, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Zigman. I'm about 5 years old and I weigh about 50 lbs. I was seized by the pound, along with 2 other hounds. We were living in absolutely deplorable conditions, which our owner saw no problem with. We were surrendered to the pound during court proceedings, so we are now able to find loving new families to join. I am a super sweet and very loving, affectionate boy. I love getting attention and my smiling face tells you just how happy I am to be freed of my previous "home". I get along well with other dogs (I've only been around dogs roughly my own size). I am finally learning how to run and play. I was previously used for hunting purposes and may do best in a home without small pets. Being that I was kept as an outdoor dog for my life prior to my arrival at the pound, I will need a patient family willing to work with me on potty training, basic training and house manners. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees.
