Story
This stunning young man is Mr.Wiggins! Mr. Wiggins was transferred to the NSPCA from another shelter in hopes of finding his forever home. Mr.Wiggins still has lots of puppy energy left and would thrive in a home that is active or has a large yard for him to play and run around in. We are unaware of Mr.Wiggins past and therefore are unsure if he is good with kids, cats, or dogs but he is willing to give them a try! If you are interested in this sweet young man ask a member of the staff for more information today!

Story
Our bouncy Ben was picked up by a local animal control.  He was very thin, heart worm positive, and had intestinal parasites.  All of that is behind him now as he has completed treatment for all and is ready to find his forever home.  We really should have named him Tigger as he bounces every where he goes.  He loves to play and also can be a snuggler when he has gotten his energy out.  We don't know how he is with cats as he hasn't been around them.  Ben knows sit and down and is eager to learn more.  He would like a family who will continue with training, and include him in their adventures, keeping in mind that he is a hound and must always be leashed when out because he likes to follow his nose.  He would be a great walking, running, hiking buddy.  If you are that special family who would love  this boy forever, please contact Rainbow Animal Rescue at rainbowanimalrescueva@gmail.com or 757-472-1583November 3, 2024, 9:38 am

Story
This one broke our hearts twice – once for Parker, the sweet hound being surrendered, and then again for his kind human, who only wants the best for her pup.Parker was a loyal companion and the apple of his human mom’s eye. This healthy, housetrained, never destructive, sometimes silly, always adoring, 3-year-old Walker Hound absolutely thrived in his loving home! Then, his mom got sick. She tried so hard to care for him, but she was too ill to give Parker the exercise and attention he needs. Treatments and procedures kept her away from home for very long periods of time, and Parker was getting anxious and lonely.Knowing her condition wasn’t going to improve, this lady made an incredible sacrifice – she gave up her best friend, her source of comfort and joy, so that HE could live a full life. Her wish is for Parker to find a loving person or family who can give him the time, walks, and attention he deserves.Folks, not everyone has friends or family who are able or willing to take in a dog if they fall ill – so we’re looking to you, our family of dog-lovers, to help get Parker home! PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD!Parker’s mom told us that in the home, he got nervous when doors were closed – he loves people so much, he just wants to be able to see what they’re doing! He loves to play with soft, squeaky toys, sniff all the outside sniffs, and perch by the window to supervise neighborhood activities. At night, he sleeps soundly in bed after he’s tucked in with the blanket over his head.We hope you’ll have sweet dreams soon, Parker.Your family’s out there, waiting to tuck you in at night.Visiting hours are 9am to noon, every day including weekends & holidays.Parker is waiting for you at 80 Butler Farm Rd., Hampton, VA.Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.

Story
Meet Walker! He came into the 4 PAWS family in May 2020; emaciated, heartworm positive and had several wounds. Walker has made a complete transformation! He is a sweet 7-year-old, 74lb silly boy who is good with kids and other dogs but hasn’t been cat tested. Walker was treated for heartworm and has tested negative. This breed mix can be high energy and very smart which means he will require exercise (mentally and physically). He will also need a 6ft fence with plenty of area to run. His new family needs to be committed to daily exercise, continued training, and socialization. If you are interested in adoption; DO NOT CALL, please complete an online application on 4 Paws Animal Rescue's website at www.4pawz.org. We verify the care of past/current pets. Our goal is to have the very best home for all our dogs and cats, and therefore, we reserve the right to approve or deny an application based on what we determine is in the pet's best interest. #lovedogsforever #mixedbreed #walkerhound #rescuedisthebestbreed #dogs #dogsareacommittment #rescuedog #lovedogs #adopt #adoptdontshop His rescue journey video: https://youtu.be/kYnnAodx1lo

Story
Meet Elvis! He`s just a hunk of burning love who is looking for his family! Elvis loves a nice long walk and is pretty good on his leash. He is very social so may pull a bit when he sees people because he wants to say hi. Elvis is smart! He knows basic commands like `sit`, `down`, `stay`, and `place`. Elvis loves a tasty treat and accepts them gently. Watch out though! This pup is a counter surfer and can get his own treats. Elvis is a playful pup but likes interacting with his people more than playing with his toys. He is house and crate-trained, likes kids, and gets along well with dogs AND cats! Elvis would be a great family dog. Come in and meet him today!

Story
Meet Rocky He is a 10y old neutered male beagle who is looking for a very special new home. Rocky finds himself at BTTR through no fault of his own. This good boys previous owner left him with a friend while looking for a new place to live and was unable to reclaim him after 3 months. The owner and friend turned to BTTR for help finding a new home for Rocky. Rocky's wish list includes a home with a fenced in yard, and the opportunity to go on walks and play with other dogs a few times a week. He loves running zoomies around the yard, chasing another dog through the leaves, sniffing trees on a walk, and sleeping on a cozy bed. He is very cuddly and loves a good snuggle. He has done well in a home with other dogs, seems interested in cats but is respectful, and would be a good fit for kids and most older people.   After arriving at BTTR Rocky began limping and our vet determined that Rocky has 2 torn CCLs (like doggy ACLs). One was partially torn and partially healed prior to him arriving at BTTR and one tore with the increased activity at BTTR.  We had two orthopedic consultations and determined that Rocky will be needing double knee surgery scheduled on April 1st 2025 at our vet in Chesapeake, VA 23322 (paid for by BTTR). He is currently on exercise restrictions, pain medications, and will need to be carried up and down any stairs from now until 8 weeks following his surgery. Once recovered we are expecting him to be able to make a full recovery and be able to return to 100% beagle shenanigans. He is neutered, had a recent senior blood/urine panel, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, negative fecal test, on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. Other than the knee issues Rocky is an all around healthy guy. BTTR offers a trial period to all of our adoptions to make sure it’s the right fit! As a Senior Rocky qualifies for a Special Reduced Senior Adoption Fee. Can you help Rocky out? If you are interested in fostering or adopting Rocky check out our website at the link below or call us at 757-447-7773 for more information. https://www.beaglestotherescue.org/bttr-adoption-info You can also donate to help support Rocky $4000+ estimated vet bills on our website, Facebook page or at his GoFundMe page below https://gofund.me/069a5380  March 2, 2025, 8:36 pm
