Story
slow burn, worth the wait Wheat is ready to be your new favorite book. Just don't judge her by her cover - she may have 'resting glare face', but it's all bluff to hide that's she's actually a silly little goose who loves forehead rubs and napping by your side. Wheat is the ultimate slow burn, enemies-to-lovers epic romance. After being overwhelmed by the shelter environment, she needed time to decompress, and she still gets stressed out by big changes. In the couple months with her foster, Wheat has gone from wanting a break after just a couple pets to enjoying a session of vigorous cuddles before plopping and purring next to her foster mom for a cozy nap. She has gotten much more comfortable - she even sleeps in bed with her overnight! She might not ever be a lap cat, but she'll definitely rub circles around you. Wheat would love a stress-free home so that she can retire happily! Wheat really needs love and stability after being surrendered after 10 years due to a new baby in her previous family with allergies. She is looking for a quiet home with adults and young adults where she is your only cat. While she is quite the foodie, she needs people who will help her lose a little bit of weight slowly and safely. She is best on a wet food diet due to a history of kidney stones, but wet food makes her very happy! All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team. For further information or to meet Wheat please email adopt@austinpetsalive.org.

Story
Lap Invader, Outgoing, Confident While Lil Bit can absolutely fill her own time and be an independent lady, she definitely prefers the company of her humans to being alone! A person she can rub up against, convince to give her pets, or crawl into the lap of is the purr-fect companion for Lil Bit! Anyone who enters the room Lil Bit is in, better be ready for some love and attention! She gets excited and immediately beelines for any newcomers to her space, and hopes they'll want to be her friend! Humans and her brother, Big Baby, are always welcome cuddle mates, and Lil Bit has previously lived with an 80 pound dog just fine! She does well with equally independent furry siblings, whether they are a canine or fellow feline! Her and Big Baby would benefit from a slower introduction to not only other animals, but their new home as well. Most of Lil Bit's energy goes into giving and receiving affection, but she does have a playful streak when a wand toy is brought out, or a spring is rolled across the floor. She hasn't given in to solely lounging around the house all day and does enjoy a little but of excitement! Lil Bit and her brother, Big Baby (130652), were adopted together as wee kittens, and have been together their entire lives! They also lived with the same beloved human, who recently became too ill to care for them, and made the heartbreaking decision to help them find a new loving and forever home. Lil Bit has helped Big Baby with the changes in their lives, frequently seeking him out, checking on him, and rubbing her face on him to say, "It's all going to be okay!" It is obvious that these two gorgeous and engaging tuxedo kitties are bonded, love each other, and depend on each other, so they must be adopted together. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team. For further information or to meet Lil Bit and Big Baby, please email adopt@austinpetsalive.org.
