Story
Felicia is looking for a family to receive all of the love she has to offer! She's most content being your happy little shadow, and is more than willing to give you kisses and snuggles any time you want. Felicia's journey from Mississippi to northern Virginia wasn't easy, but every day for the two weeks she's been here she comes out of her shell more and more and feels more confident to be her happy, loving self. Things she has learned she loves since being here: Her foster siblings, rough housing, walks around the neighborhood, belly rubs, couches, beds (human and dog), sunbathing, bones, squishy toys and sticks. Felicia was abandoned by her previous owner and found chained outside with sunburn and mange, but she's healing nicely and has been so brave in learning to trust humans again. She's still working on her separation anxiety — she was abandoned, after all! — so will need someone who can help her slowly get used to being alone without her human(s), even if other dogs are present. She's been taking baby steps toward being able to be left alone, and the more confident she gets generally the more progress she seems to make with the separation anxiety. She LOVES other dogs and gets along great with her three foster siblings. She's housebroken and seems to enjoy doing training — so far she knows "sit" and "touch." She hasn't been around cats but has done well so far around children she's met (there are none in her foster home). She loves to play but when it's time to calm down is very good at curling up and taking a nap — preferably on something soft! Mandatory in person transfer date: August 23rd at the Petsmart in Tysons Corner between 10:00 AM-11:00 AM. All adopters must attend in order to finalize the adoption. ##2138332##

Maggie is one of nine puppies who were rescued from an overcrowded shelter in Alabama. Maggie is a Weimaraner mix. This breed is known for being loving, loyal, friendly, vigilant, and energetic. What Maggie wants more than anything is to find her forever home. Could that be with you? Maggie is your typical puppy. She is very friendly, outgoing, and playful. At her young age, Maggie is in her prime for training and socialization too. She will grow to be a wonderful companion for many years to come. Please remember that young babies require a lot of time, love, and patience to become the best doggie citizens they can be. Maggie will make a great addition to an active home. Submit an application today and change this sweet gal's life forever!  Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.           Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/  or email our Foster Coordinator at  foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSponsor Me!    Make a  tax-deductible donation  today by visiting us at http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/donate/  .
