Story
Ollie is a handsome, friendly and playful boy who would love a home - a real home. He came to us from a person who had 17 dogs, and got into trouble for that, and for allowing his dogs to roam around town. Ollie was one of these dogs. We are happy that Ollie now has a chance to find a real home. One where he can live inside, and be treated like the piece of gold that he is. He's ready to learn! Ollie walks pretty well on a leash already and would love to go on hikes and adventures. He'd do well in a home with another dog, and has gotten along with males and females. Ollie is just 3 years old, so has a lot of years ahead of him. He'd do best with an active family, or to have a fenced in yard or place he can run and stretch his legs. He has moderate energy and weighs 50 lbs. He is up to date on all vaccines, dewormings and preventatives, is neutered and microchipped. His adoption fee is $175.

Story
Milo has been the best thing to happen to my life, which is why it is very hard for my family and me to let him go. He forced me to explore my neighborhood, making me active when I used to stay indoors. Milo makes us laugh and sometimes mad when he misbehaves, but in the two years we've known him, he has brought so much joy. He loves meeting new dogs and is very protective of our home and us. Unlike other dogs, once he realizes you are not a threat, he becomes calm and non-defensive. Patience is key with Milo because he can be very energetic one day and lazy the next, preferring to stay indoors when it rains. He's well-trained, knowing to poop and pee outside and signaling when he needs to go. Impressively, he can go off-leash and never runs away. Letting him go is heartbreaking, but we know he will bring joy to his new home. Milo has profoundly impacted our lives, encouraging us to be active and providing endless entertainment and companionship. I just hope you all give him a chance.

Story
Kimberly is the cutest, cuddliest, most loving dog you will ever get the honor of adopting! She is house-trained and does good inside the house when no one is around, and also knows sit, down, place, paw, off, heel, come, and has done a variety of different agility courses. She's a fast learner, very smart, and very obedient when not exposed to too many triggers. She has lots of energy for outdoor hikes, but is also happy to just lie on the couch and be a potato with you all day. She loves to cuddle and will greet you whenever you come home with the wiggliest of butts and bring you all her favorite toys! While loyal and loving, Kimberly does not come without her quirks. She is an anxious and reactive dog, with her primary trigger being other dogs, and when over-stimulated, other people as well. She does not like confined spaces, but is showing a lot of progress with her crate-training. Kimberly has been able to meet other dogs when introduced slowly and properly, and is muzzle-trained. She also is okay with children when introduced slowly, and trust is able to be formed. She would thrive in a house-hold where she is the only dog and is not in a busy/urban area, and with someone who has prior experience with dog anxiety or reactivity. Thank you for your interest in Kimberly! Please visit www.hart90.org/petdetail.aspx?ID=17089 to get the most up-to-date and accurate information on this pet, to email the contact person listed for more information and how to meet Kimberly, or to submit an online application. HART adopts to the local DC/VA/MD metro area only. Visit our website for more information about our adoption process.

BREED: Pointer SEX: Female WEIGHT: 65 lbs AGE: 9Y/M/W If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our dog adoption questionnaire and e-mail any questions to: lanihtar@gmail.com PLEASE VISIT THIS WEBSITE TO FIND THE ADOPTION QUESTIONNAIRE: http://www.homewardtrails.org/adopt-a-pet/adoption-forms/ HOW TO MEET THIS ANIMAL: LOCATION: Foster home ADOPTION COORDINATOR: Lani at Lanihtar@gmail.com ADOPTION FEE: $475. This fee INCLUDES spay/neuter and microchip. **Ask me about our many adoption benefits that include free exams, pet insurance, training and other discounts! ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 65 lbs KNOWN WITH DOGS: Brooke gets along with most dogs; she may not like female dogs as much as she likes male dogs KNOWN WITH CATS: not cat tested KNOWN WITH KIDS: Good with kids; gentle KNOWN COMMANDS: heel, sit, lay, come KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING &/OR CRATING: Brooke is house trained and crate trained. She may need to be coaxed into her crate, but once in, she settles and lays down KNOWN LIKES: Treats, Kids, Dogs (male), peanut butter, car rides, McDonald's ice cream, pup cups from Starbuck's and sun bathing KNOWN DISLIKES: Fireworks, thunderstorms and female dogs ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Brooke, a 9-year-old pointer mix, was adopted from HT at 8 weeks old. Unfortunately, she was returned because her owner had to move to Germany and couldn't take her along. Despite the difficulty of the decision, Brooke's owner had to part ways with her beloved companion. Brooke loves to sunbathe and take long naps but loves walks and running in a creek or any type of water! She is great with kids and babies and will lay down next to them wanting all the pets or ear pulls or completely ignore them if told to. She is an old soul but still gets the zoomies. She loves treats and is a foodie. She had been known to steal a single cupcake out of a pan left on the counter to cool as she has a soft gentle mouth. Sneaky little girl! Peanut butter bones are a favorite for when she has to be in her crate. She has never met a stuffed toy she cannot tear apart in a hot minute but will not take any of the kids toys to chew. She will act like she is hard of hearing if she doesn't want to go in her crate, but she is just being stubborn and holding out for a treat. If you rattle a glass lid, she comes running! Brooke loves naps on a couch and is a total bed hog if aloud. She will nudge you right to a corner and take over the whole bed lol. Brooke is the sweetest, friendliest companion and she is looking for her furever home. We promise you won't be disappointed when you meet her HT ADOPTION INCLUSIONS: Spay/Neuter First 3 distemper series vaccines & de-wormings Microchip - lifetime with no registration fees Current on heartworm preventative Current on flea/tick preventative EXCLUSIVE ADOPTER BENEFITS: Free first exam with: Caring Hands Animal Hospital, Palisades Veterinary Clinic, Jermantown Animal Hospital and Clarendon Animal Care and all VCA Animal Hospitals (VCA offers $250 coverage - details provided) Free online workshop with a professional dog trainer at Fur-Get Me Not within the first 30 days of adopting (in DC/Arlington/Alexandria only) A portion of EVERY ADOOPTION fee supports spay/neuter for animals in under-resourced communities BE A FOSTER: Save a life: http://www.homewardtrails.org/foster-a-pet/dog-and-cat-foster-program.

Story
Please contact Rachel Durnin (racheld2@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Handsome young man looking for a home!RANDALL NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!       Name:   Randall          Best Guess for Breed:   Pointer and hound mix      Best Guess for Age:   2 years as of February 2024          SEX:    Male   Approximate Weight:   38 lbs   Gets Along With:    Other dogs! Randall was tested with cats and showed interest in them. We would be cautious about placing him in a home with a cat unless the cat has lived with dogs before.   Currently Living at:   DC area foster home.   Randall is Looking For:    His forever home! Through no fault of his own, this handsome boy ended up in the shelter. He is full of fun, young dog energy and is ready to have his own humans to trot alongside on sniffy walks, romps in local parks, and all the adventures they can dream up! Exploring all the toys sounds great too, as well as some delicious kibble and a cushy dog bed.   Most of all, though, he wants to know he's safe and loved and under his own roof every time the sun goes down. In exchange, he promises adoring gazes, cuddles, and loyalty for all his days.   What do you say? Is Randall the companion you've been looking for? What My Foster Says About Me:     'Randall is a good boy with a big heart and huge eyes who LOVES his humans. He’s been loving and gentle with both dogs and people of all ages. People really do light up in a smile as they pass him on the sidewalk because his happiness and enthusiasm are infectious. Whether in the neighborhood or dog park, he makes friends wherever he goes and looks like he’s asking, “are you my forever home?” He is great with his crate, sleeps through the night, is very food motivated, and is adaptive to his environment as long as he gets reassuring pets and kisses from his people. He’s adaptive to activity level, too: he loves to sniff on walks and would have the stamina for long outdoor activities, but he knows how to chill out at home with his humans.' Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter.
