Story
Luna is a 4-year old female Pointer mix and was living in a cage long hours daily. We are fostering her a few months. She is very affectionate but still a bit timid and afraid of a a few things like vacuum cleaners and trucks. She is very gentle and has never bitten anyone or anything. Her hunter instincts were brought out while in our foster home and, she would be very happy to have a safe space where she can run and fulfill her breed need for exercise. She is a high energy dog and daily physical and mental stimulation is very appreciated. She really enjoys outdoor activities like running, hunting, chasing, sniffing and playing outdoor games. She enjoys going out on trails. She also enjoys a comfortable couch to lay down, snuggle and relax after some outdoor activities. She is truly affectionate! She did very well with a puppy in the neighborhood and with 3 kids. Luna is the most intelligent dog we have ever fostered.

Beware, Draceo enjoys payment in belly rubs, but is happy to give kisses in return.Do you need a friend for your pup? Draceo can be crazy playful (with a young dog) or gently respectful (with an older dog). Are you excited for a puppy? A puppy where you already know the size and temperament? Story
Kimberly is the cutest, cuddliest, most loving dog you will ever get the honor of adopting! She is house-trained and does good inside the house when no one is around, and also knows sit, down, place, paw, off, heel, come, and has done a variety of different agility courses. She's a fast learner, very smart, and very obedient when not exposed to too many triggers. She has lots of energy for outdoor hikes, but is also happy to just lie on the couch and be a potato with you all day. She loves to cuddle and will greet you whenever you come home with the wiggliest of butts and bring you all her favorite toys! While loyal and loving, Kimberly does not come without her quirks. She is an anxious and reactive dog, with her primary trigger being other dogs, and when over-stimulated, other people as well. She does not like confined spaces, but is showing a lot of progress with her crate-training. Kimberly has been able to meet other dogs when introduced slowly and properly, and is muzzle-trained. She also is okay with children when introduced slowly, and trust is able to be formed. She would thrive in a house-hold where she is the only dog and is not in a busy/urban area, and with someone who has prior experience with dog anxiety or reactivity. Thank you for your interest in Kimberly! Please visit www.hart90.org/petdetail.aspx?ID=17089 to get the most up-to-date and accurate information on this pet, to email the contact person listed for more information and how to meet Kimberly, or to submit an online application. HART adopts to the local DC/VA/MD metro area only. Visit our website for more information about our adoption process.

Please contact Caitlin Finn (caitlin.finn@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.young boy ready to play! KENTUCKY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Kentucky       Best Guess for Breed:   Pointer and lab mix Best Guess for Age:  1 year as of December 2024   Gender:    Male Approximate Weight:    51 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids but he can be tested if you have them. Kentucky is a bit too interested in his feline friends so a home without cats is best. Currently Living At: Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to come up after completing heartworm treatment Special Adoption Considerations: Kentucky is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.  We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left! Kentucky is Looking For: His forever family! He's got all that awesome young-dog energy and is eager to have his own humans for long sniffy walks, romps in the park, and exploring the world - he hasn't seen nearly enough of it. He'd love to make pup pals along the way, too. Quality kibble, cushy dog beds, peanut butter-filled Kongs - yes, please. But you know what he wants most of all? To know where he belongs, to know he's safe and loved for all his days. What do you say? Is he the one you see by your side?   What My Foster Says About Me:We will update this once he has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with his foster Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Happy Pup Seeking Love! DABO NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!    Come meet DABO and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (January 12th) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Rockville (5154 Nicholson Ln, Kensington, MD 20895)!   Name: Dabo     Best Guess for Breed:  Pointer, Dalmatian mix   Best Guess for Age:  3 years as of January 2025      SEX: Male   Weight:  48lbs   Gets Along With:  Dogs, People, Kids! Dabo hasn't been seen with cats yet but can be tested.   Currently Living at:  DC area foster home About Dabo:  This sweetie came into our care in March 2022 and was quickly adopted out. He has been in a loving home since then. Through no fault of anyone, he now needs a new home.    His previous humans say he is a great pup who loves humans (adult and child alike), loves playing with other dogs, and just loves life. They say he was good in the home - he'd just chill and sleep when left alone, was good on walks and didn't have accidents, and gave his humans lots of love. He knows the basic commands - sit, stay, down, come, paw. He's good in the car.    What he wants most of all is to once again have his own humans. To love and be loved. To know he's safe and under his roof for all his days. In exchange, he promises adoring gazes and tail wags and loyal companionship. What do you say? Are you Dabo's new chapter? Is he the one for your home and your heart?
